The piddly 14,000 tickets sold last week only hit one $100 prize and one $120 prize. There cannot be but a handful of loose tickets left for sale at this point. With a 35% profit per ticket and building in 30% cost of production/distribution etc, the OLG stood to make $144,000 by selling every last ticket. But somewhere in OLG headquarters sits a nice little $675,000 bonus for them. I know, I'm beating an old drum, but the whole situation does not sit well with me. It's like a giant pinata game and we're the blindfolded participants swinging wildly to find the mark, but there is no pinata. If you're lucky enough to find any tickets, scoop em up.
No games were retired which has the effect of bumping the total tickets for sale up to almost 120 million. That's a lot.
Someone mentioned several months ago about Breakout Tickets. I never really thought much about them but I intend to do some research on them over the course of the next week.

Comings And Goings
The OLG added three games this past week: $2 Walking Dead (rated 22nd of 32), $3 Fruit Explosion (rated 16th of 32) and $3 Quest For Gold Crossword (rated 12th of 32). The latter game offers a jumbo 26 million ticket float and should keep us running right up to the Olympics. I wonder how much of the money raised by this game goes to Olympic Athletes?No games were retired which has the effect of bumping the total tickets for sale up to almost 120 million. That's a lot.

Without much to report upon I always find it interesting to learn about other people's play. I have a friend who plays Pro-Line and always reinvests his profits in Scratch Tickets. He then saves all of the Scratch Tickets that he bought over the course of the year and he and his family scratch them all on Christmas morning. This year he had slightly over 100 tickets to scratch and managed to turn them into $200.Someone mentioned several months ago about Breakout Tickets. I never really thought much about them but I intend to do some research on them over the course of the next week.

My mom used to play those ALOT when I was a kid, I remember her winning pretty regularly, but she knew the people that worked in the store and they would let her know if someone had won or not, I guess there is a set amount of winners in there, so if the top ones go then they would let her know, but if there were a lot missing and the big prizes werent won they would also tell her.

Its listed on the winners page for Jan 26th, I havent seen any Wild Card tickets for a while, guess they claimed that 100k as a group play or whatever its called, it was bought at a Macs store Ive been to before.

I'm aiming for winnings of >$10,000 OR lots of excitement/fun (eg Gift Pack).
CL66's rating of Gift Pack is 66/100. Is that good or bad? What's the realistic average?
Also, if for example a $5 Bingo/Crossword comes out in March with a game rating of 95/100. Would they allow me to claim two of those $5 Bingo/Crossword?
And even though I wouldnt do this cause it'll be more fun to play the games instead, would they allow getting $10 cash instead of getting another $10 card game?

-holiday spectacular is a worthy $10 game. .I hit a $50 winner last week on one and it has the best odds for over $50k prizes. .

True - i hardly ever rate games above 70 - it's possible, but unlikely - i`m hoping the new $5 "7-11-21" ticket coming out on monday will get near this mark - the best team in the NHL has a win % of 70, so a 70 rating from me is quite good as far as a scratch ticket - it's not like a school test where say 70/100 means average.

On the $2 CFL coupon from the Gift Pack, I think it's basically a $2 credit that the retailer gets from OLG, whether you use it as $2 off a CFL ticket, or to take $2 off anything (a $10 ticket where you pay $8 for it). I've even had a few retailers let me use two $2 coupons to get 1 free CFL ticket since that's basically $4 being paid.

ReplyDeleteDid you change your $30 ticket rating? It's my birthday this week so I asked my mum for a couple of tickets in lieu of the $100 tradition she's done for the last 20 years. Wish I'd asked for the $100! 3 tickets, nothing. I bought my own ticket a couple weeks ago and, yes, scratching a $30 ticket to get nothing is quite painful. Not sure if I'm willing to risk it again. What are the odds on these? 0-for-4 isn't giving me much hope (considering I usually at least get ticket value on $10 or $20 tickets if I splurge).
ReplyDeleteNot yet. The problem I have is that included in my formula is a factor for the percentage of revenue returned to players for prizes of less than $100. This game rates very poorly in that regard just due to the price of playing. Only 29% of prizes fall into that category. OTOH, 34% of its prizes are for $100 or more (not including the Grand Prizes). That dwarfs any other game.
DeleteDespite my inability to get a read on the game on a comparative basis, it does return 70% of money to players (best of any game), your chances to win any prize are 1 in 3.55 (average), your chances to win any prize greater than the cost of the ticket are 1 in 4.04 (#1).
The game has sold an estimated 7% of its float without surrendering any of its top three prize categories.
On that basis it is playable. However, you have to stack that up against the cost. If scratching and losing $30 really bites, then I'd be glad that your Mom gave you those tickets for your birthday.
OTOH, human psychology being what it is, after going 0 for 4 you can get yourself very determined to buy more until you get a winner. The odds don't lie: each ticket has a 72% chance of being a loser. Personally, the game is too rich for my blood. of course, I'm only 0 for 1! Perhaps other commentators can add to my comments.
99.93% of $30 Golden Treasures prizes are $100 or less / the odds to win more than $100 are 1 in 4,908 - if you can get a win, at odds of 1 in 3.55, your then only ever likely to get 1-3.3x on your $ - out of all 32 games, the 3rd worst game on odds to win more than 3.3x on your $ is $1 Red Hot $50's at 1 in 74, 2nd worst is $20 Extreme Miliions at a terrible 1 in 1,301 - that makes $30 Golden Treasures odds of 1 in 4,908 look incredibly bad - one would think the higher price = better odds/prizes, but the facts show that it isn't - as with $1/$2 games, i see no value in playing the current $20/$30 games - i`ve never bought either and if i was even given one for free i`d try to trade it for else.

DeleteOn the OLG site there is a page up for the new $5 "7-11-21" ticket, but no fact sheet as yet - it's top prize is $100,000 with overall odds of 1 in 3.90 to win any prize - there are 9 games where in each you add 3 numbers that if total 7,11 or 21, you win a prize - getting 7 wins you the stated prize, getting 11 wins you 2X the stated prize and getting 21 wins you ALL the 9 games prizes.

ReplyDelete0 for 10 - sorry to hear that JayDee - i was kind of surprised to see that, when i looked back at my ratings, i`ve rated Diamond as the worst $10 ticket EVERY single week since it came out - the very few positive posts about this ticket since it came out seem to back up my view on it.
DeleteUsed my $19 to get three more tickets, including another Diamond. All duds! 0 for 11 and counting. I should probably stop but I'm stubbornly determined to win SOMETHING from one of these tickets. Probably won't buy another for a while though.

ReplyDeleteI think Im gonna go hard on the Money Multiplier, I had a dream yesterday that I was scratching some kind of ticket, and I kept uncovering treasure chests and coins and winning over and over again, the money just kept going up and up, thats going to be my go to tickets for a while unless I run really cold on it long enough or the prizes drop significantly.
I bought tickets yesterday at a Petro store for the first time using my new Petro card, its kind of nice to get points for lottery pruchases, the store is kind of out of the way though compared to my usual Macs or Pioneer though.
With the first $2.5 million $30 Golden Treasures prize claimed from North York, it now feels like it's over before it even began.
ReplyDeleteOntario got 62.5% of that game's float, which translates into an expected 6/10 grand prizes. Toronto by population proportion should expect about 1/6 of those prizes if distribution was geographically even.
So..Toronto, for this game, you are done. Or so it would seem for grand prizes.
I'd say now look outside of the city for these ones if you want to play them at all.
That's the shortfall of big, clumsy games like this one.
I wouldnt count Toronto out yet, Or atleast that area, I wouldnt be surprised if they pulled another 3 or 4 more of the first and second place prizes, I would actually be very surprised if this was the only big win from this game there.

DeleteIf you didnt do well with money multiplier i dont see 7-11-21 being any different. I think Ive found out why Ive been doing so poorly with all these newer tickets, Ill be adjusting my play and hopefully I can see some winners again, I checked the fact sheets on a bunch of them and compared them and all the newer games have something in common that the older ones didnt.
DeleteI cant see fact sheets for games that arent on there anymore, but of the ones that are I can see a noticeable difference in some numbers. For a while I was winning on Crossword Triplers, and with every one of those I bought I also got a Jackpot ticket, since they were new at the time, and while I would win steady on the Crosswords, I only managed to get $10 back from the Jackpot tickets.
Id move the quest for gold crossword much higher up on this list tbh, I havent even played one yet and I just know its gonna be a better ticket than money subtraction.

ReplyDeleteFound a store with a large amount of CFL #1167 tickets so I bought up 10 of them. Through the first six I won a grand total of $4 and thought to myself that I grabbed all the losers. lol The last four netted me $4, $12, and $20 winners, allowing me to break even in the end. :) I will go back and reinvest just to see if maybe I can come out ahead this time around!

ReplyDeleteAccording to Randy, Golden Miilions GP of $2.5 million was won in North York. There will most likely be one more GP available to be won in Ontario. The Extraordinaire game was retired with 6 out 12 Grand Prizes remaining and I am almost certain that Golden Millions will be retired with 5 out 10 GP's remaining as well. I still can't believe a guy won $2.5 million dollars off a scratch ticket and he never plays them. Beginners luck.
I also get a good laugh when people on here drive across the city just to find a certain scratch ticket and then they are all duds. I think you may have a gambling problem.
I'm so glad that I haven't purchased any scratch tickets since Christmas, the Ottawa area has claimed absolutely nothing. The money is better in my pocket than OLG's.
For the record, CL66 and I use very different rating methods. Anyone using either approach should make themselves aware of what each method captures and they should agree with that approach.

DeleteBoo yaa! it ain`t a lot, but just played my first 7-11-21, game 3 came up 02+05+04 = 11 - getting a total of 11 doubles your prize - my prize was $20, so that's a $40 win/8x my $ - odds to win exactly $40 are 1 in 93 / 1 in 76 for a $40 or more win.

Hmm...feeling a little puzzled and perhaps envious again today. One of those sports bettor names I have seen a lot before is on the OLG winners list again, for Feb 10.

I'd love to see the balance sheets of people like this and that Innisfil guy, how much they spend and net returns. And it would be good to hear OLG's take on how this in no way violates their $100 maximum "rule".

there's nothing to stop anyone from spending $100 at one retailer then cross the street and do it again at another retailer..
Speaking of point spread I've won $1150 over this past week on college hoops. ..kinda proud of a few of the tickets. ..I'll post a few pics soon for anyone's interest.

DeleteI haven't done it in a long time now but in the past I have bought entire packs of $3 scratch tickets for a cost of $210 which also breaks the rule and never had any retailer mention that rule..lol..but they did ask if I was serious a few times..and one retailer asked for I.D. for some reason.
What's the biggest scratch ticket cash you have had? Curious since you buy whole packs. I have bought 30 or 40 tickets at a time, get back between 50 - 65% of my money, biggest cash is $40. Bought lots of CFL 1167 and Crossword 3210 last month, $40 was the biggest winner, paid back about 55% on my money.

Deletebiggest win is only $100 from a CFL and wife won $100 from a old $1 scratch ticket. .I've won $50 several times ..but for the amount of cash spent over the years my nicest prizes from scratch tickets are pitiful.
And in the big scheme of things I would say that I'm also around the 55 to 60% payback. ..In no way is scratch tickets an easy way to make cash..lol..

I was curious if you had ever hit one of the big prizes just due to the amount of tickets bought (most people just buy a ticket here and there, and still seem to get lucky). If you buy enough you should eventually have a shot at a good ticket though even though it is still a long shot. $100 isn't too shabby. I never really bought many until just after Christmas this year, decided to test my luck but I can see it is a really hard way to cash in, fun though, the wife scratches them and enjoys it, probably because I am the one that actually buys them.
