Another 34,000 tickets burned through this past week. Eighty-nine of the original 1174 Top Prize tickets remain outstanding but those 89 tickets represent 29% of all the money associated with the 1174 Top Prize tickets. Of the money available for Top Prizes, 95% is represented by that one lonely outstanding Grand Prize. The game will be deleted from the outstanding prize list on February 8th. Tic-toc.
I use a measure of standard deviation in my rating formula. Statistically, 68% of a population should be within one standard deviation of a mean. For my ratings, 23 of the 29 active games fall within that measure. My rating on CFL 1167 is almost 8 standard deviations from the mean. 99.7% of all measures will be within 3 standard deviations! Interesting comment from Bee Gee this week that he/she asked his/her seller to call the OLG and reactivate a package of de-activated CFL tickets. They did so! I'm surprised by that but I learn things on this blog all the time. In the same vein, we learned this week that each Provincial Lottery Corporation has the individual right to de-activate Interprovincial Games at different times. I still can't get my head around that one.

I've used playolg a few times but stopped. I play slots and while the online ones are around 95% payback which is good, I found their actual payout range really small. Like a $1 bet you would be lucky to ever win more than $5 after 20 spins. Most like 0.20 to $1.50.
ReplyDeleteFor roulette or table games, you have to read the rules to see if the payouts are reasonable because again some of them seem to pay less than a physical casino would.
As for the 'bonus', they offer, it's complete garbage as far as I'm concerned. Again free play at a physical casino is better. There you typically have to spend the same amount and whatever returns you made are now cash. On playolg, you have to win many times your deposit before the bonus becomes real money. It's essentially useless may as well do play money option.
You can buy 6/49 and lotto max but only for the current draw, I'd like to be able to buy advanced play but it's probably so you have to return to the site and maybe spend your money on their games,

ReplyDeleteClassic White has zero Grand Prizes left, zero second Prizes, 1 out of 5 Third Prizes, and zero 4th Prizes. Why do you rate it above the other 4 games?
That it is weak on top prizes is obviously true, yet with what it offers for odds on $1,000 and under prizes, it beats many other games - just because a game does not have any top prizes doesn't mean its not worth trying - with Diamond, i`ve posted 18 weekly ratings since it came out and each time it came out as the worst $10 ticket - as it's odds to win more than $20 are are 1 in 19, for $100 or more, the odds are 1 in 6,571, while Classic White is 26x better at 1 in 250 - to me, more value should be placed on odds for realistic nice wins, not on top prizes that come at needle-in-a-haystack odds of 100,000:1 and greater - i`ve never won a top prize, yet i`ve posted many decent wins here - personally, i won`t buy Classic because of it's single prize above $1,000 - i won't buy Diamond either, since it's odds are not good at winning any of it's prizes above $20.

14 tickets -spend $140 win back $110 on 4 winner tickets. ..for a 79% payback

Still lost $30 on my venture but because I cashed out and put money back in my
pocket it means my actual ticket cost was only $2.14 per ticket and each ticket had decent odds at that final grand prize for this game.

ReplyDeleteYou can`t - because none are available - even the OLG themselves can only estimate them - what they do know is months after a game has ended what it's actual sales figures were - the only information of use is what's on the OLG's unclaimed prize page - only extrapolation of tracked data from there is what can be used to determine an acceptible ESTIMATE of what sales are - as an example: if a game has, at it's start, 1,000 tickets of which 100 prizes in total were listed there / if a week later that became 90, 90 of 100 would mean 10% of prizes were claimed / applying this 10% to the 1,000 tickets would then give an estimate of 100 tickets sold.

I bought two golden treasures today and both were losers.. as well as two extreme millions and one was a $20 winner, I bought one world class riches for $20 which is only in bc and that was a $50 winner.. in total though I wasted $55 on scratch and loses.. the only way you win jn lottery is if you steal the tickets, but thats hard to do.

DeleteMy best advice to people is not to buy scratch tickets. With a house advantage of between 30-40% you are going to be a loser unless you quickly hit a big prize.
The purpose of the blog is for those people who have ignored my best advice and have decided that they want to play some of these games despite the odds. And yes, $75 have been my biggest prize since beginning this blog three years ago. That sobering piece of information keeps me honest whenever I think about winning.

Whoa. Chill. Blogger just did some data analysis and posted the results. If you yourself analyzed the info posted on OLG sites regarding a scratchcard about a NEW game, the odds of winning are around 60% (eg. spend $1000 and win $600).
DeleteIt's just that the odds are different when the amount of cards remaining are different than when the game was new, different levels of prizes have been won, and other variables.
If you were looking for advice regarding gambling, just stick to the generic one: Dont do it.
It doesnt sound like you have the patience for understanding simple probabilities.

$4 CASH FOR LIFE (new) lost another grand prize - 5 of 10 are left within an estimated massive 12.78 million remaining tickets - odds to win a grand prize, which were the worst of all games before, are now even crappier at 1 in 2.56 million!

Went back to the 2nd chance Bingo contest page today, and they've extended it for another half a year. Closes June 3 now. I would imagine fewer tickets will get entered from now to June, since the tickets say January 29th as the deadline, and unless you knew it was still running until June 3rd, you'd figure it was over so there's no point. Odds might improve a bit as a result to win one of the $500 weekly prizes from now until June, as a result.
ReplyDeleteFrom reading previous posts and comments, I'm intrigued that Shoppers Drug Mart seems to punch above its weight a bit (or at least it seems to) in terms of where people have won large scratch ticket prizes. It's interesting because you'd think they wouldn't quite sell as many tickets (smaller trays and only 1 or 2 tickets of each game usually in the tray at a time), compared to a variety store that might have 10 of the same ticket in a tray that someone wanting to make a bulk purchase could take all 10 at once. But on the other hand, it kind of makes sense that the odds would lean in SDM's favour, given how many SDM locations there are across the province. It makes sense that since they have more locations, more of the large prizes have a chance to show up there. There's only 1 Joe's Convenience Store in Anytown, Ontario, and since there's only 1 and it's not part of a chain store, that means there's only 1 in the entire province, compared to many SDM's. We're bound to notice the frequency of SDM winnings more, because there are so many more of them, compared to a local store where it might be the only 1 of it's kind in all of Ontario.
On the old Cash for Life game 1167, I enjoy the hunt for old tickets when some grand prizes remain and a ticket becomes hard to find. I've found a few rural places that still have a few (rural as in the only thing there is a variety store and you drive through the place in seconds lol), so I think to myself it fits the narrative of a grand prize in a place where the population is like 100!
Yes, I get how some say maybe the last CFL 1167 grand prize isn't even out there (maybe it's been sent back in an unopened pack that couldn't be activated now etc.) but when you think about it, all of those factors don't really change, whether the game is new or old. When a new game starts, every grand prize winner could be sitting in a yet to be opened pack. Regardless of whether there is 1 grand prize remaining with 20 million tickets for sale or just a few hundred tickets left, if you're in the right place at the right time and choose the right ticket, you're going to win it. So, as long as I can still find a ticket somewhere, I always think it has the chance to be that last remaining grand prize (in the case of CFL 1167), regardless of other factors like unopened packs or tickets that have been sent back.
Glancing at the winners list, there always seems to be an outlier game where a big prize from a rare ticket seems to be claimed way after that game was on sale, from people selling their loose tickets from an already activated pack. I remember a Prestige $1 million grand prize was claimed way after Fortune started and Prestige tickets were long gone, and a Fortune $1 million prize was claimed after those tickets were long gone and Diamond had started. In the past, top Christmas Gift Pack prizes have shown up on the winners list in the spring. lol Maybe it's just optimistic thinking, but instead of thinking the last $675,000 CFL 1167 ticket may not be out there, I think it could be every time I see an old ticket. lol

ReplyDeleteStarted deciding to spend $20 on 2 Crossword Triplers and 1 Wild 10. I won $30 and $5 on the Triplers. Later I rolled that into 2 Triplers and pocketed the $25. I won $90 ($30 with a TRIPLE) on a crossword. At this point I'm up $95. On my final walk around the hood for the day (I work from home and venture out for fresh air and often a ticket or two:) I bought 1 Spectacular and 1 more crossword (my fave) and won $5 on the tripler, for a final surplus of $85 for the day!

Why the Bingo "2nd Chance" internet contest" was extended:
ReplyDeleteThe contest started with Super Bingo 3018 which launched May 18th 2015 with a contest closing date of January 29th 2016. This gave an ideal 8 month window for contest entries, as the game usually has a 6 month window for sales. The same contest was added to the current BINGO 3019 (purple), which launched 5 months later on October 18th, giving it a short 3 month window for contest entries. Way-to-go! to the probable 6 figure $ OLG department head for this dumbass decision. Upon the contest closing date there remained an estimated 56% / 5.5 million tickets of the current BINGO 3019 (purple). These tickets are expected to be made available for another 3 months, so sales would be negatively effected had they promoted a closed contest, and so the contest date was extended. Sales will still be effected negatively to some extent as the now past January 29th date remains printed on existing tickets. If we see tickets for this game later on with the changed contest closing date, then that is proof that not all tickets intended for a game are printed upon launch.
Well we all know the Ontario government is all about taking in as much money as they can.

ReplyDeletePlayed a couple walking dead tickets, matched a spider for $5, not what I was expecting, if you changed the walking dead logo on it and gave it a generic halloween name it would feel exactly the same to me.

ReplyDeleteThe way i see it - the Walking Dead ticket is the result of planned marketing towards a younger demographic with a slant towards non-regular lotto/scratch players - i think the OLG was previously anti-brand endorsement due to licensing costs - the reality of the business they are in means they need to be open-minded to maintain or increase profits - in the U.S., with a larger more competitive market, "licensed" tickets are more frequently in issue as well with "licensed" slot machines - the OLG lives off what sells and other aspects of a ticket are distant factors - in my last estimated sales post, 1/3 of all tickets sold were $3 Crossword (winter words) - that was nearly 1.6 million tickets, meaning $4.8 million in revenue in a SINGLE week - the prize payout % on this game is 65% so the OLG'S take would be $1.6 million - the value of all this games top remaining prizes is only 1/5 of this, at $295,000 - it's a big game for the OLG but i`ve only ever bought one of them as most all $3 Crossword's i haven't rated well - i applaud the efffort with this "Walking Dead" ticket, but i`m not influenced by a "name", my "number crunch" decides what i play - suggestion wise, i`d like it if we could see price point extensions on games we know/ have known - for instance: $3 Money Multiplier, $5 Bejewelled, $10 Fruit Explosion or maybe even a $20 Cash For Life game? lol

I bought a few tickets today, 3 Crosswords (won $5), 2 Fruit Explosion (won $3) and some poker tickets, all I got from the poker was a bunch of free tickets for tonights draw.

ReplyDeleteI have an old $4 CFL (#1165) where I won a Free $10 CFL (or any $10 equivalent.) I have to claim by May 31 2016. I havent been to any gas station or SDM recently so dont know what's available at the stores.
I'm aiming for winnings of >$10,000 OR lots of excitement/fun (eg Gift Pack).
CL66's rating of Gift Pack is 66/100. Is that good or bad? What's the realistic average?
Also, if for example a $5 Bingo/Crossword comes out in March with a game rating of 95/100. Would they allow me to claim two of those $5 Bingo/Crossword?
And even though I wouldnt do this cause it'll be more fun to play the games instead, would they allow getting $10 cash instead of getting another $10 card game?

..I've played a lot of #1168 bonus CFL and I believe it was a much better game a few weeks ago when there was still around 6 $100k prizes and all the grand prizes remaining ..expect to have big variances on both games but stick with the bonus cfl. .and monitor the prizes claimed page. .ive slowed down substantially on my bonus cfl purchases. .and I wouldnt touch the 1161 game..

ReplyDeleteSo in the previous post I commented that I found a stack of Fruit Explosions at my inner office convenience store...with my winnings I am slowly buying up the whole stack...so close to finishing it but no dice. If someone can refresh my memory there were 3 big prizes left? Fruit explosion is retired hence gone from OLG website...but I don't know if I'm spinning my wheels or not...but I kinda like the challenge of finishing up the stack!
Bonus Cash for Life was won in Fergus ON. So avoid that area for BCFL.

DeleteI took the plunge today and bought 108 Fruit Explosions that I knew were kept at a local retailer... I pulled one rarity from the bunch but only for $43 or 1/1400. Not good enough. The big prizes must be with OLG. Spent $324, took back $191, lost $133. It was all or nothing day and I just reduced those odds again.
