This is getting ridiculous. The game of choice sold 300,000 of the estimated 1.3 million remaining tickets last week without revealing a winner. There remains 1 million tickets containing two Grand Prizes. The game has achieved the highest rating of any game since I began measuring these games. I should point out that the game has been hollowed out a bit. The second place prize of $50,000 and the third place prize of $10,000 have both been claimed. There remains one $5000 prize and one $500 prize before dipping down to the $120 prizes but those two $675,000 prizes are juicy and waiting to be claimed. How good would it be if a reader of this blog was to snag one? A point of caution is that the game is getting to the point where tickets may become hard to find. I am beginning to have to shop around for mine. Still, it's worth the effort. Something has to break soon. And if the OLG has the temerity to retire the game I'll be launching an all out offensive on them. I've invested too much in this game to watch them claim the Grand Prizes.
Note that the top three of the worst games are double whammy's with both all of their Grand Prizes and Second Prizes claimed. Come on OLG! Give us a break.
Two new games came on line this past week. The first is a new version of Cashingo. It is a good looking $3 game with a higher than usual 3.2% of total revenue being returned to the 4 - $75,000 Grand Prize winners.
The second game is Cadillac Riches. Some comments were left on last weeks blog entry about the game. It is an inter-provincial game with a couple of twists. Ontario will receive 4 million of the 6.5 million ticket float. Interestingly, neither Quebec nor Atlantic Canada will participate. I wonder what the story is there?
The game has 5 Cadillac Escalades as second prizes (or $100,000) and 5 Cadillac Coupes as third prizes (or $47,500). There is also an on-line contest for one Cadillac. According to the game sheet no purchase is necessary to enter but you have to enter a code that is on the ticket. Not sure how one does that without buying a ticket but I'm sure that is the case. You can enter up to 50 times a day. While it is true that I spend time writing this blog, I've got better things to do than enter on on-line contest 50 times a day! The game has an unusually low percentage of revenue returned to the Grand Prize winners. In exchange, the prize totals for $100 or more (but less than the grand prize) is very high.
Not good. Ten Cash for Life tickets contained three winners totaling $16. I'm due!

Very good update, been following you for a while now. Wondering where did you get the number of tickets sold data? Is it disclosed anywhere? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteI use the remaining tickets listed on the OLG site as a proxy for the entire float. Others have posed the same question. As a result, I now try to use +/- percentages (19 times in 20) to reflect the mathematical variances that are involved when using a sample. I'd be happy to reply to you directly with more information, if the above remains unclear. Thanks for asking.
DeleteNoticed cfl $4 were in high stock near me for 1165 and all of a sudden a few days later every store only has the old ones, so something is going on with olg hiding 1165 at the very least. Ended up playing turbo cash for 10 since i couldn't find the cfl 1165 and got a checkered flag, so I won 50.00 which means it all worked out in the end
ReplyDeleteWould suck if the grand prize tickets were bought, but the persons lost the ticket.
ReplyDeleteThat would indeed suck :-) Given sufficient time, it is bound to happen.
Deletebot four CFL all duds this time .. keeping tabs on stock at stores I use most are low .. I know the one retailer is holding a whole pack of 1165 which he doesn't put out - something could be said by what he's doing I wonder if other stores are doing the same thing watching the count on those last two prizes
ReplyDeleteI never have any problem finding CFLs, just winning on them. Last 5 tickets paid back a whopping $6, although a friend of mine won $120 last night. I think I'll stick with them for the rest of the weekend. Bought 5 Turbo during the week that returned $25.
ReplyDeleteWhoops! I've been playing CFL not Family. Oh well, I'm sure the results would be the same. Another 3 tickets this morning yielded exactly zero for me.
DeleteWon$30 on red hot 50s last week. Pretty good for a dollar investment.
ReplyDeleteWell done. The odds against that are presently 277-1.
DeleteBah new to the website and my last name showed up how do I remove it
ReplyDeleteRobtimusPrime,
DeleteWere you referring to the earlier comment that had been deleted? I have deleted it. That is a bit strange as I think that any poster should be able to delete his/her comment. I only check the blog once a week for comments so I apologize that it just was deleted now.

Grabbed 8 1165's from a honey hole I found in the valley. Only found 1 $4 winner in the pile, so things have not been going well for me on the CFL front.
ReplyDeleteBought 10 CFL $4, returned $28
ReplyDeleteBought 7 CFL $4, returned $20
Bought 5 CFL $4, returned $4
Bought 1 CFL $4, returned $12
Bought 3 CFL $4, returned $16
Bought 4 CFL $, returned 0.
That was 30 tickets in the float. I seem to be finding these everywhere. I just hope no one is sitting on those winning tickets. It would be a shame to all of us playing to hit the jackpot at these good odds.
It seems half the retailers I talk too think #1161 is the newer set of CFL
ReplyDeletebad news: only 1 grand prize left for 1165 as of this morning :(
ReplyDeleteWinner is from Pickering on recent winner list..I think the other one was from Brampton. 2 GTA jackpots? Not bad. Maybe 3?
ReplyDeleteI won a ticket today at bay and bloor! yippy! drinks for everyone. I would like to get everyone together for a pint, next week okay?
ReplyDeleteYeah..I spent approx $400 on c.f.l.
ReplyDelete1165 over the last month with about a 40% return ..lol..still better return than my last $400 on the lotto ..time to look for a different scratchy game...sigh..
That is a terrible result. After buying 100 tickets you should be close to the expected return of about 65%. To have a 40% return after that large of a sample seems awfully strange. Did you buy them all at the same store?
DeleteNo tickets bought at various stores usually 10 at a time...I did win 3- free $10 cfl..and I think 1- $24 or $26 prize all the other prizes assorted small..
Deleteone disturbing purchase was I cleaned a certain store out of 1165 cfl..it was 22 tickets..No Prizes...not even a small one..didn't think that was possible..that single bunch was what really hurt my return...
anyways interesting blog..
keep up good work thnx
Does anybody else do this?..
ReplyDeleteI just scratch off the code area on ticket abuse the olg self checker in store...some games like lucky lines and scramble are to much work if you have 10. Tickets to scratch and also scared of making mistakes and throw winners in trash..lol..
I assume the olg checker never makes mistakes...I hope..
any opinions?
For me, that would defeat the purpose of buying a scratch card, to play the game and have some fun and excitement.
DeleteI take it home and then play it. Some time later, whenever I remember, I bring them all to the scanner regardless if it's a win/lose.
Have to agree with Chapman on that one. I would think that the scratching of the tickets is the fun part.
Deletei think the checker is on point with that, I'm pretty sure it just verifies the code to its main computer to see if its a winner or not. There was a youtube video not too long ago, i think its down now but a guy showed the camera when he was scanning it on the checker and it showed "big winner $5,000"
ReplyDeletei heard through the grape vine that this blog is generated by olg employees to offset the remaining losing scratch tickets.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
DeleteI sometimes worry that readers may think that the blog is an "inside" marketing tool. It most certainly is not.
The best advice I can give anyone is to not buy any tickets. What I'm trying to do is to suggest to people who choose to play, which games are the best choices at any given time.
I am, in general, a critic of the OLG although I try to give them credit when I feel that it is deserved.
I think that people who have been following the blog for a period of time would attest to my objectivity. The blog is a hobby for me - nothing more and my profile provides information about who I am.
I'd be curious to know what "grape vine" you make reference to?
Thanks for posting.
Doug
i bought 20-30 of these tickets and won barely anything. avoid this ticket people. save your money.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteMy luck on the game has also been poor of late, although better than yours. I'm always interested to know what games folks are playing so don't hesitate to post.
Good luck.
Doug
so the cfl with the money bills is the correct one to buy? ive been buying the other one, that one really sucks
ReplyDeletecheers
mike
Right on. Note the new update - one of the prizes for the 1165 game has been claimed.
Deletehow do you know how many tickets are out there for each game?
ReplyDeleteRick
I know from the published game sheet how many tickets there were to begin with. I then go to the outstanding prize list and use the number of listed prizes remaining as a proxy for the entire float. For example, as of today, 232 of the listed prizes for $200 Million remain outstanding. There were 559 of those same prizes at the outset. I then calculate the percentage and apply that number to the overall float.
DeleteThere is a margin of error with the method that decreases as the number of listed prizes increases. To compare, there were 10941 listed prizes for QFG Crossword. That yields an error rate of less than 1%, 19 times in 20. At the other end, there were only 205 listed prizes for Prestige. As a result, the estimate is +/- 7%. There are web sites to do with sample sizes that will do the calculation for you.
Hope this helps. No Magic.
Rick. Click game details for whatever game that is, and it will show how many tickets recieved (printed) for each province, or just for ontario if a game is provincial like turbo cash.
ReplyDeleteHi Doug.. This question gets asked every so often. Maybe you can make the answer to this and other frequently asked questions as a FAQ or a sticky post. Just my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteCheers and Lucky scratchings
