Bonus CFL #1168 Forges Its Way Back To The Top

20X Lucky no sooner reached the top when it lost a Grand Prize to a lucky winner in North York thereby knocking it down the list a few notches. In its place, Bonus Cash For Life resumes its reign although it is quite unlikely that you'll find any of those tickets for sale anywhere. The game was deactivated on February 27 and an estimated 8% of the float is all that is left for sale. If you find any, check with the retailer before you buy as only one of its Grand Prizes are left to be claimed. You currently have one chance in 830,000 to win $1,350,000 for your $4 investment.

This winning ticket along with a $15 winner on 20X Lucky doubled my weekly investment and increased my Return on Investment from 41% to 56%. One more good week and I'll be back to the area of expected results.

In Conclusion

Last week I posted a link to a web site that purports to allow people, including Canadians, to participate in the jumbo US Lotteries like Powerball. I poked around the site and asked Mr. Google what he knew about it. The company is legitimate and operates legally in California.

The idea is that you sign up as a member of a group. You pay via credit card for every four plays. The cost varies depending upon the games you want to play. You then submit a set of numbers. If your numbers win you receive 50% of the prize that you won. Five percent of what ever you win goes to the person whose group you have joined. A further five shares of 5% each are credited to the accounts of five random members. That totals 80% of your winnings. The web site is silent but one assumes that the remaining 20% is the profit for the site operators.

So, what we have here is a bit of a pyramid scheme much like Mary Kay or Herbalife. If you sign up people, they join your group and you get 5% of their winnings. You are then encouraged to sign people up to your group so you can get 5% of their winnings. Of course, 5% of that 5% goes to the person whose group you joined.

An article written about the site quoted a California State Lottery official who did not actively say that people should not join the web site. What he did say is that it is always recommended to actually have your lottery tickets in your hand. Exactly. The web site buys the tickets, cashes the tickets, and distributes the winnings. Lets suppose that your ticket won the Powerball lottery and $100 million. What is to stop the operators from cashing the ticket, closing down the web site, and skedaddling out of town.

My advice is not to participate for the following three reasons:

  1. Its hard enough to win without only getting 50% of whatever I win.
  2. I don't like pyramid schemes.
  3. I'm not 100% sure that I'd ever get my money if I was to win a jackpot.

If you disagree, post your views.

The Living the Life Lottery draw is only a week away and ticket sales must be slumping as retailers are actually pushing the game. It might not be an altogether bad idea to buy another ticket.

Best.

  1. 1) Group buy collectively increases the odds of winning.
eg. If 1400 people payed $30 each to play the 649. The odds jumps from 1:14000000 to 1:333. Even if the group bought win the JP was only $5mil, each person would've gotten ~$3570. Obviously they'd be smarter to buy when the JP is higher.
That is assuming the organizer doesnt take a cut.

    2) Good if you're on top, but there really is no downsides if you're at the bottom. It usually gets a bad rep cause most are rarely on top.

    3) One way to be more comfortable joining lotto group buys is ensuring that the organizer sends out copies/photos of the tickets prior to the draw. If you did win, you can simply contact the lotto authorities and tell them it's a group buy so that the single person will have a difficult time keeping all the winnings to themselves.
Yes, if the organizer is legit, it'll be hassle to claim, but they should also understand that hassle is just a precaution by the members.

On the other hand, if you missed a payment to join and they did win, just accept you're screwed.

  2. Karma: def. noun. A chameleon. It comes and goes. It comes and goes.

At least that's what the funny looking make-up wearing dress wearing fellow I sat beside on the bus told me. I told him, "By George, you might be on to something. You should write a song about it." Wondered what happened to him.

Anyways, last week's good luck eluded me left this week as I scored a single 1x win among a handful of QFG's. That leaves me at a 21.4% (25.7% expected) hit rate and a payback of 70.6% (61.6% expected) for this game. Think I'll take a break and try some other game for a while.

  3. US Lotteries... those top prizes are mind-boggling but then again, so are the odds.

    1. I'm not a fan of group buying. Using Chapman's example, I'd end up being agent .0007 as that would be the amount I'd end up with. A cool secret agent number but not enough to get me out of my parents' basement. Still, can't figure out why the OLG can't print out a "Copy" ticket for each of the group participants. I believe they have this ability in Quebec.

    2. I believe the Egyptians invented the first pyramid scheme.

    3. The sticking point. The internet, which always tells the truth (/sarcasm), is littered with stories of lottery related fraud. When it comes to large amounts nothing is off limits: false claims, poisoning, winning tickets being hidden, group administrators disappearing with the winning ticket, etc.. The amounts are just too large and attractive NOT to tempt someone, sometime.

Also consider, if you take the lump sum (which most winners do), remove any local, state and the federal non-resident taxes, won't you still have to pay Canadian taxes on the remainder? I'm not an accountant (then again, I'm also not a lawyer, a doctor, an airline pilot, a mechanic, a.... well, the list goes on) so any help here would be appreciated. Might consider leaving the winnings in a US bank and spend it only when down there.

    As always, JMHO.

Uncle Sam will take 30% off the top and there is no way to that back. Interesting question though about if the CRA would require you to pay tax on an out of country lottery win.
      Good point on the Egyptians.

    2. Because I am long winded....

Thirdly we can never be 100% sure of this even in our own little office pools, I may be naive but I like to believe that people will do the right thing, yes greed does make people do funny things but I don't believe that someone goes to all the trouble raising the capital to fund the start up, building the infrastructure all with the intention of ripping off people, for the extremely small chance that their system will actually win the big jackpot. It would be pretty hard for them to cash the ticket and leave when there would be a whole lot of people calling the California Lottery Corporation claiming it was a group win and they better look into it. As far as Uncle Sam taking 30% if you give me 50 million I will worry about the 30% later, I have never heard someone say, "no thank-you I can't accept that large cash prize because I will owe the Government 30%." And you don't get double taxed on the winnings by the Canadian government until the year after you put the money in a bank and have to claim the interest earned on the money for the last year. I thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts, if no one is interested that is okay with me I was only reaching out to Doug as someone that has been around this blog for months and thought I could help fill a need for some people, I don't believe I am being ripped off but only time will tell, sorry about the lengthy response, still shorter than some of CL66 listings though.

    3. Sorry my post must have been too long so I have cut it into smaller chunks, please edit if you need to Doug

      Hi Doug,
      I wish you would have just responded to my email with your thoughts before posting the link in your blog, I thought you were okay with the program when you posted it I didn't want this sort of thing to happen that I would have to go into defending this on your blog. But I would like to take this opportunity to correct some inaccuracies in your statements, I agree with Chapman one of the main reasons you join a pool is to increase your odds of winning. I agree it is hard enough to win but if you do giving away 50% does feel steep, but that 50% is going back to pool, so the money is shared amongst pool members, the actual breakdown is;
All prize money is paid out to the members as follows:-

50% of the prize is paid to the person who picked the winning numbers.
Then 25% of the prize is split into 5 shares, and awarded to whoever introduced that member to the pool - spread out to 5 'rings'.
With the remaining 25% again split into 5 shares, but then randomly awarded to 5 other members. These are referred to as 'Meteor Strikes'.
there is a review of the program at this site http://www.lottery-syndicate-world.com/lottolishus.html#axzz3VSdl2bJN which also reviews all other lottery pools.
The odds of winning on my own ticket are still small but the odds of me winning 5% of someone else's ticket is much greater. So the owners do not take a 20% cut, I do believe they are at the head of the pool (as they started it) but even they can only win 5% down to 5 levels.

    4. Point #2 As far as pyramid schemes go, I like Tommy's definition but I think the correct terminology is Ponzi scheme whereby someone takes your money and gives you nothing in return, aka Bernie Madoff. As North Americans 90% of all working people work in a pyramid it is the structure of almost all companies unless you work for yourself whereby you are at the top of the pyramid. My own job as an example, I am in middle management with a larger crew below me who make less than I do and I also have a smaller team of leaders above me who make substantially more than I do. The form of marketing for the Lottolishus program is called referral based or network marketing or Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) such as Herbalife, Mary Kay, Avon and Amway also, they have all been proven legitimate business models, (or they would have been shutdown long ago) they only get a bad rap when people try breaking away from the core business model and doing their own thing. A crooked distributor is the same as a crooked doctor, crooked lawyer, or a crooked police officer they all tarnish the image of many good people and companies. Most MLM companies get in trouble by giving you a finders fee for bringing in a new person, there is no finders fee here, you can only share in the winnings of people you bring in but if they don't win, you don't win. It is truly a pool like at work, if you don't match any numbers there is free coffee at the end of the week!! Lottolishus gives you lottery tickets for your purchase, they charge you a fee to purchase the tickets for you, that is to help cover their costs of business. You can even join for free without purchasing a ticket and just look around the back office, but you can't win anything until you make a purchase. I have one friend who is doing just that, they have signed up and are waiting till the jackpot is at a certain dollar value before making a commitment and after the jackpot is won they will be stopping payment until the next time the jackpot is large again, you can stop and start your payments you are only locked in for a one month period.

    6. Steve,

Thanks for your post. I will write further about this next week for the benefit of those people who read the blog but not necessarily the comments. It's perfectly acceptable for folks to have differing viewpoints. CL66 and I disagree on how to evaluate Scratch and Win Games. I know that several people prefer his approach over mine. That's fine by me. It makes the blog better.

      With respect to your comments:

      1. I read Chapman's comments as being with respect to office groups playing local lotteries, not something like Lottolishous.

      2. I now see that the owners make money two ways: $8 every four weeks for purchasing the tickets, and; 5% of the money won by every winner that is below them in the pyramid. You imply that if there are more than five levels then they would not get a share of those winnings. Can you confirm that? I'm dubious.

      3. I am also now of the view that any level can contain any number of players. I had originally thought that each level would be restricted to five players. I now think that is wrong. Can you confirm?

      4. I used the term "pyramid" intentionally. In my mind, "Ponzi" implies illegal activity where the top dog uses the money from new entrants to pay the promised returns to those near the top a la Bernie Madoff. "Pyramid" does not imply illegality and I stated at the beginning that the site was legal.

      5. I don't agree that your workplace is in any way a pyramid scheme. All organizations have pyramid shaped organization charts but I doubt that where you work operates anything like Herbalife or Mary Kay or Amway. Herbalife continues to be under attack from a particular hedge fund based upon how it operates.

I welcome any further comments that you have regardless as to whether you agree with me or not. Although this blog is not specifically designed for lotto games, we do venture into that territory from time to time. I have provided readers with the address to Lottolishous and it is ultimately up to them if they want to play or not.

      Caveat emptor.

    7. Hi Doug,

I can't confirm or deny the number of ways the owners make money I may even be completely off base whether they are in the pool or not, my assumption is that they are because I am sure I read somewhere that this started as a pool amongst friends initially and they had this idea back in 2008 of creating an app to help people build lottery pools and then after tweaking it came up with the idea of Lottolishus, based upon the length of their facebook page it appears beta testing started in 2012 with their friends.

As far as how many people are allowed on each level there is no limit you can have 100 people on your first level 10 on your second and 3000 on your third, but I jest as there are not currently that many in the entire pool as we speak.

I believe I was probably most offended by the word "scheme" in your choice of words describing pyramid as scheme to me has such a negative connotation. I was trying to relate to you the word "pyramid" which is the most prevalent business structure of how most successful organizations are built and whether it is MLM or a successful brick and mortar organization. And I have to laugh the way the pressure is ramping up with sales quotas and meeting your targets I believe a lot of traditional businesses are looking more and more like MLM businesses as my bosses want greater productivity out of me and my workers to justify their bonuses which are higher percentages than my bonuses which are higher than the non-existent bonuses the front line workers get, this is looking more and more like a pyramid scheme, but I disgress, that is another argument for another day with another crowd.
I have to agree with you Doug we can agree or disagree and I guess that is the beauty of a blog. Thanks again for putting up the link, I just wasn't expecting your response, I must be getting sensitive in my old age.

    8. Steve,

I re-read my response and I agree that the word "scheme" is pejorative. Perhaps "structure" would have been a preferred choice. It is interesting how powerful a single word can be.

  4. Agreed, I'm not a fan of group buying at all either. When it comes to a big lottery win, you cannot trust anyone it seems. I buy all of my tickets for myself, its just much easier to deal with if any winning occurs.

As for Bonus CFL, I thought a couple weeks ago it was mentioned that any unopened packs of these scratch tickets were being returned. If so, I have a feeling that Grand Prize is buried. I have not seen a Bonus CFL ticket in over a month, and that was when I was down in the GTA.

I have now accumulated $100 worth of Living the Life Lottery tickets since it came out. Might end up with a few more tickets since it's not doing well it seems. I have not seen a Grand Prize claimed for Extraordinary or Fortune since at least Christmas time. The unclaimed prizes section has barely changed for both those games in that time span. Not sure if people aren't buying it, or if just all the losing tickets are being chosen. I know I have bought plenty of each. Probably close to 100 tickets combined for both Fortune and Extraordinary since it's been out, and I have never won more than $50 on a single ticket. I hope those two games are replaced soon with something else.

Now, 2 DCFL GP's are gone. The one in Shanty Bay...has anyone heard of where the other one was won? Looks like my favourite game took a turn for the worse.

  5. For anyone playing Living the Life, I was just at a Shell station and they've been updating a sign that says how many numbers are left to be sold.

Their sign says as of today, there are 4,499,757 numbers left to be sold. So out of all 6,172,840 possible numbers that could be sold (according to the OLG spec sheet), they've sold 1,673,083 of them.

Haven't seen any other retailer doing a countdown of numbers left to be sold yet.

    1. Replying to my own post since I'm not sure how to edit lol. 1.6 million numbers sold is a lot less than a float size when a new instant game comes out, plus the prizes are better for Living the Life. For some of the $5 scratch games, you tend to get 7 $100,000 top prizes for a float of around 2.5 to 3 million. The popular $3 Bingo games can have float sizes around 9 or 10 million, or in the case of Crossword and QFG Crossword, over 20 million tickets are printed. What I also like about Living the Life is that it's a raffle of guaranteed prize numbers, so it doesn't matter where your ticket came from (big city, small town, etc.)

  6. Hi Doug,

Quick question. I recently saw some Winter Words crossword scratchies and was wondering if they were worth buying or if all the big prizes had been claimed. I can't seem to find any info on them at all anywhere. I know they are the winter edition of the crossword and every time people come into my store they always go for those and not the quest for gold which would make more sense to me. Is it possible there is still a grand prize to be won? Or should I not waste my time..

    1. I'm not Doug, but I can tell you that the game is listed on the OLG unclaimed prizes page as having 1GP of $50,000 and 1 prize of $10,000 still out there somewhere...!

    2. $3 CROSSWORD has 1 $50,000 grand prize available at estimated odds of 1 in 1,646,000

$3 QUEST FOR GOLD CROSSWORD has 11 grand prizes of $50,000 available - unfortunately they are within an estimated 20,252,092 remaining tickets - so the odds to win 1 of these grand prizes is 1 in 1,841,100

The $3 ticket with the best chance at winning a grand prize is BINGO - there are 10 $50,000 grand prizes available - to win 1 of these comes at estimated odds of 1 in 853,160

The $3 ticket i rate the best is WHEEL OF FORTUNE - it has the best odds at winning a variety of prizes - unfortunately it only has 1 remaining grand prize of $75,000 at estimated odds of 1 in 1,154,239

    3. Thanks for your replies. I see what you mean by the remaining prizes left in the CROSSWORD game but I assume that's just the regular crossword game? I'm talking about an edition called Winter Words...are the winter words and CROSSWORD as listed on olg the same?

      Delete
    4. Yes, they are the same - sometimes an edition may have a theme - most of the time, a different colour is used, to easily view it as a newer version of a regular ongoing game - the current $3 Keno is green while the previous version was blue, as an example - the coming new edition of $3 Crossword i would expect to have no theme, only to be different in colour.

    1. Hi CL66
Can you explain to me why a $20.00 scratch ticket is lower on your break downs please. You would think for $20.00 it would be at the top but even you Top Rated game it's at 64/100 that's brutal. I've been thinking about buying some but I need to understand why it's not rated that high in a lot of the categories.
      Thanks CL66
      Good luck everyone...

    2. The game is good for odds to win $20 to $40 and that's about it - a $50 win is slim at 1 in 17 - to win more than $75 is a terrible 1 in 1,267! - your 110 times more likely to win 4 times or + on your $ with $5 20XLUCKY (1 in 11.5) than $20M.E. - one would assume a game that costs $20 would offer MUCH better odds on small prizes - 95% of all prizes for this game are $50 or less - the reason why it's hard to win anything more than 2.5x your $ on this game is due to it's $2,000,000 grand prizes - to make such possible, a huge "slice of the pie" (the games total prize $) is set aside for the grand prizes leaving much less for everything else - take BCFL versus DCFL as an example: BCFL had almost 287,000 $20 prizes upon it's release, DCFL with it's massive $1,850,000 grand prize had ONLY 1,000 $20 prizes! - in my view, for $20, good odds on winning only 1-2x on your $ isn't appealing, i'd rather go with something else that offers more variety - that $2,000,000 SURE is sweet! but odds to win it are about 1 in 1.8 million 0_o

  11. But I was thinking if I spend $20.00 a week on Lotto Max I have better odds on the $20.00 Scratch ticket yes? I wouldn't win as much but I usually don't even win my $20.00 back. :o(

    1. If i had $20 to spend - i'd more likley go with $20 worth of different tickets instead of all of it on a single ticket or $20 of the same ticket - mostly since $20M.E. isn't that great of a ticket and i like variety in what i play - now if i had won say $50 or + on something, then i MIGHT get one - with only $20 in hand, i`d more likely START with something offering the best odds at winning $20 and then select else - maybe a $10 and a $5 ticket with a Lotto Max, or of the other regular games i play - trust your instincts and good luck with whatever you choose to do! ^_^

    2. Hi Darth, it was a gas station by me that had some LTL ticket sales data posted. I'll stop by there this afternoon, see what their sign says for today and post an update here.

  13. Hi Darth
That is totally BS about the LTL they have maybe sold almost 2 million out of 6 million tickets there trying to sell..
I got an email from OLG saying hurry there selling fast which is NOT true at all.
The retailer I went to yesterday how surprised at how low the sales are for this one.
I also have $60.00 in tickets and my Hubby is buying some today as well.
    Hope that helps.

    1. I saw that email as well. I checked just now as I was going to copy and post it on here, but it looks like it is long deleted. Should have come out either late last week or last weekend if I remember correctly.

  14. I haven't seen anything posted about LTL sales either. I'm just going by what the other anonymous had posted about the sales at the gas station. I have about $200 now of LTL tickets (All $20 tickets with the 7 numbers). With less than 2 million tickets sold, one of us on here has to win a good prize (other than the lowly $20 prize).

  15. Hey Doug,

I also noticed on the OLG Recent Winners page that the Double Cash for Life prize was 1.35 Million and not 1.85 Million...I remember you saying that you contacted OLG and they said it was 1.85 Million??

    1. Anonymous,

You have a good memory. Bonus CFL #1168 has a grand prize of $675,000 and Double CFL #1170 has a grand prize of $1,850,000. The OLG rep confirmed this to me and the numbers work out when you cross-check the game sheet.

Your point interests me. Could it be that the OLG fobbed me off with some blarney? Shocking! I'm going to double check that and report back.

      Thanks for posting.

      Doug

    2. Anonymous, I checked today and the winner in Shanty Bay is indicated as having won $2000/wk for life. Where did you see that the prize was $1,350,000?

  16. Today's sign for Living the Life says 4 days left, 4,451,016 numbers left to be sold.

The 2 days I've checked the sign:

March 25: 4,499,757 numbers left (1,673,083 numbers sold)
March 28: 4,451,016 numbers left (1,721,824 numbers sold)

If we assume they're updating it every morning and that what they're posting is accurate, that would mean in the last 3 days of sales (all day March 25, 26 and 27), 48,741 numbers have been sold. Divide that by 3 and you get an average of 16,247 numbers sold per day for the last 3 days.

    1. Thnx for the sales data..but is it from olg this info? Or is it just a retailers estimate? ..I can't find anything anywhere on the estimation of tickets sold/remaining. It does appear to be a big flop for the OLG. .good for us and bad for them..currently laughing and remembering the old pink lucky lines fiasco. .
I'll likely up my holdings to an even $100 worth before the deadline..and yeah all $20 tickets with seven numbers..again thnx for an update : )

      Delete
    2. I'm not sure where the info is coming from. The sign isn't branded with the LTL logo or anything and it isn't with the rest of the lottery stuff (like at the lottery area where the selection slips or the ticket checker are). It's a yellow piece of paper that has 2 columns on it (# of days left, # of numbers left for the LTL lottery). It looks like it's been laminated so that someone can erase the numbers in marker from the day before, and it's at the cash (attached to the back of the computer monitor at the cash so that it's facing everyone who is paying for gas). What's funny is that both Shell stations where I live are doing it lol, maybe owned by the same person? Same yellow sign at the cash at both. Haven't seen any other lottery retailer locations doing a countdown of ticket sales.

  17. I haven't been on the OLG site but when you go in a convenience store and ask how many tickets they've sold for the LTL lottery the will tell you...come on March 31st...lol

  18. Wow! I posted here a few weeks ago about LTL doing poorly in sales, back then i was told by the OLG insider i know they were estimating a 50% sales figure - but if the figures posted by Anonymous are fact, then they are looking at only a 30% sales figure - if 30% was reality, the OLG stands to lose up to $1 million on this lottery - since it was first posted that a retailer had posted LTL ticket availability numbers, i have looked at more than a dozen retailers and not a single one had posted this information - tomorrow when i go to my local retailer, i`m going to ask them for this information, if i can get an actual printout of such, i will scan it and post a pic of it online so all can see factual proof - if 30% holds true, don't get your hopes up too high, as to win the $3mil or $1mil top prizes will still come at long shot odds of about 1 in 1.8 million - the smaller prize of 50 x $5,000 benefits mostly with a 30% figure, with odds then of about 1 in 35,000, since the best odds for $5,000 on a scratch ticket comes at about 1 in 70,000.

Here are a few reasons why i beleive LTL sales are doing poorly:
LTL seems to have been underpromoted - of those i have talked with, few seem to know of it or have even bought a ticket - a low promotional budget or a poor performance by the OLG promotional department may be to blame.
An issue with the name - OLG "Living The Life" lottery + Heart & Stroke "Time Of Your Life" lottery - a name must clearly be distinct from any other to easily identify it - these 2 lotteries even have the SAME last day for ticket sales!
Too long a time to wait - Lotto Max is weekly, 6/49 is twice a week, if you bought a LTL on day 1, you've been waiting over 2 months now for the draw to happen - your forgiven if you have forgotten about that ticket by now - lol.
Lack of incentive - an early bird draw for only THREE fricken prizes, with NO small prizes of ANY sort - geez, it would have been nice to have had a chance to even win a lousy $5! - Bonus draw aside, there was only 80 prizes ever to be won, EVERY other lotto game or scratch ticket offers WAY more prizes.
Peer pressure - the cost of a LTL ticket is on level with Lotto Max + 6/49, yet LTL's $3 Million grand prize pales in comparison with tonight's $30 million 6/49 draw and the recent $50 million Lotto Max - the fact that LTL is different as a "raffle" with guaranteed prizes is unnoticed by most people.

    1. Good points CL66. I'd be interested to hear from your "insider" what the discussion is inside the OLG about this game.

      Delete
    2. I talked briefly with them today and they had nothing new to say about LTL but that they would take a further look into the matter tomorrow and get back to me if there is any news on this - they are not privy to all that goes on at the OLG so i'm limited as to what "insider" stuff i can report here - they offered me a look at a "sampler" ticket next time we meet up, so i will post a comment about it after that time - as far as anything new with scratch tickets, "Tetris" is being brought back, i assume only a $3 version as before.

      Delete
    3. CL66,
What do you mean by a sampler ticket?
      Doug

    4. I won't know for certain until i see it - and i`m not 100% certain i will get to see it - i was told this is created by the marketing department ever so often for OLG internal-only review by sales agents and others - NOT for retailers - i suppose it's what someone thinks could sell discussed with those who actually sell and evaluated against what has sold.

  19. LTL lotto is likely hurting also because lottario along with 649 have high jackpots right now and we just finished the 649 bonus draws and until last Friday the lotto max was huge..More people including me were throwing extra $$ towards those big juicy grand prizes..
Its appealing to me because it maybe the first time that OLG may have a game with a 100% payback to players and possibly they maybe even show a loss..greedily chuckling to myself. .
..And if you buy the $20 ticket your cost is under $3 per play..
..Grand prizes more like the high cost scratch games..making it appealing for $3 a play..keep in mind the low prize payback is pitiful..just like cl66 mentioned..
I'm throwing an even $100 at it and I expect I shall receive a 0% return but I like a good gamble and if it pans out that the sales are low it may mathematically be a positive expectation bet..
Know your limit play within it : )
    GL everyone

    1. Maybe the wrong terminology "positive expectation"..most of us will come up with dud tickets.
What I meant was they may potentially be paying out more in prizes than what they bring in for sales..

    1. Bonus CFL was deactivated on feb 27 which means no new unopened packs can be activated and sold after that date. But previously activated tickets can still be sold and prizes are valid..
I can't say why they tell you they're gone then more keep showing up, perhaps they have a stash of tickets that only certain employees can touch or restock the trays..
I still get excited when I see them in a tray...theyre hard to find and the orange crossword tripler and bonus CFL are my tickets I search for right now..

    2. Thanks Darth .. I noticed OLG still has the running count on the game but have taken the game details down - I really suspect they want games with small floats over so they can start the next series .. the CFL looks confusing to some when there are more then 2 series on the go at once .. I'm going to stop by this store Monday to see if those last 2 BCFL are in the tray still or if there are more ? .... hav'nt seen the orange crosswords

    3. Not sure why hit the jackpot is in "the doghouse"... It may only have a few grand prizes left but has lots of prizes 100 and over...

    4. Looks like $250 ..wow..I've never had a scratch prize that big..thnx for sharing a pic with us...kinda gives us hope knowing they're out there.

    5. HTJ doesn`t meet Doug's criteria so that's why he hung the "doghouse"
tag on it - in my last rating, i gave it 11th place out of the 27 games - i play it as i think it's a worthy ticket, just not too often.

    6. Nice Win Dan
Congrats, I've played those scratches and haven't done that good at all on them so it's nice to see someone is.

    7. That's such an exciting win, Dan! :)
I'm curious to know how many of these tix you played before hitting that winner?

  21. Congrats on the win Dan!

Just wondering if anyone has got a confirmation from a retailer for LTL remaining tickets?

I know there was a sign, but has anyone asked for a confirmation at ta convenience store? Thanks, and good luck to this board for the draw. Wish we could pool our tickets for this one.

    1. I wish the same thing Anonymous, I'm sure a lot of us we have done a pool together since some of us have been on this Blog for years.
I'm going out today to buy one more. I think I'll buy 2 $10.00 today instead of just 1 ticket for $20.00.
      Big Day is Tomorrow. :0)

  22. With reference to LTL lotto you can ask a retailer how many tickets are remaining but they are unable to print out a copy..it just comes up on their terminal. .but as of 920 pm Sunday evening there is 4,348,726 numbers remaining. .I just bought my fourth $20 ticket and asked about it..

    1. I was at my regular lotto place after work today and asked them as well about LTL and i received near the same figures - so the 30% guess i mentioned in my previous post looks to become reality - the department head on LTL i'm guessing is on the cushy job-secured $100k+ "sunshine list" so i think no fallout will occur over this, but geez, lose a million $ in the private sector and your dead! 0_o

  23. Wow, it's been so long since we bought those tickets that I forgot you get 7 entries for $20. I was thinking it was $20 a pop. I know we're all very sad about OLG taking a big hit on this game.

  24. So my local convince store still had about 40-50 bcfl 1168, I bought a few then looked over the prizes that were still left. I guess the reason one buys this ticket is to try and win that grand prize. All the other prizes have mostly been won. I guess what I'm asking is, is it worth it for me to buy this ticket trying to win the top prize where my odds are a little better now because their is only about 800,000 tickets left. Or would I be better buying dcfl where there are still prizes for any amount but my odds of winning the top prize is not as good, but still have a chance at those secondary prizes?

    1. It all depends. If you are targeting the top prize, then with the reduced float it's probably worth it since the initial odds were 1-in-1.977M of hitting the top prize. But as you've noticed, all the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place prizes are gone and the remaining ones are probably where they should be for the amount of tickets that are left.

Your small prize (<$100) expectations should be the same. But all in all, do realize the mathematical total expected return is less, one of the problems of targeting top prizes with small floats.

Comparing B-CFL and D-CFL exactly at this moment requires the ability/tools/patience to calculate the total expected return for both games, something I can't provide you with at this moment. Perhaps some other reader/Doug can.

    2. Small prize payback % for less than $100 prizes is 56.6% on 1168 bonus cfl. .at least thats what I remembered from previous discussions from several months ago..It is a decent game for hitting the $20 wins. And rates decent on cl66's 2x5x chart. .but the lone grand prize is a long shot and most likely reclaimed by olg when retailers were ordered to send back their unactivated packs..
Not sure about the numbers on dcfl..I'm not a big buyer of that game..but I think it's closer to 50% payback from less than $100 prizes. .and worse odds at grand prizes. .yet the size of the grand prize does make it appealing to play it in moderation..GL

Here's a pack report from today:
Coming soon:$3 fruit explosion, April 6

    1808 20xlucky activation end date mar20

And I just picked up my 5th and final $20 LTL lotto ticket..and for anyone's interest as of 8:20 pm today there are 4,295,158 numbers remaining ..so it appears they will hit 2million numbers sold but no where near the 50% mark,
not unless they sell over a million numbers on the final day...
poor Olg so sad for them..lol

  26. $1 BINGO EXPRESS - Review

    Grand prize: 4 x $10,000
    Low level prizes: $50 / $10 / $2 / $1
    Number of tickets: 3,035,000

    Odds to win:
    any prize - 1 in 3.83
    $2 or more - 1 in 7.42
    $10 or more - 1 in 44.81
    $50 or more - 1 in 3,158
    $10,000 - 1 in 758,750

    Out of all 28 games:
    Ranks 22nd on winning $5,000+
    Ranks 26th on winning $1,000+
    Ranks 26th on winning $250+
    Ranks 27th on winning $100+
    Ranks 25th on winning $50+
Ranks 22nd on winning 2x-5x your $ or better
Ranks 10th on winning a ticket price back
Ranks 17th on winning any prize

The good news: ... uhm... good odds on winning... your $1 back - lol. The bad news: everything else. $1 games shouldnt even be sold anymore in my opinion. It's odds of 1 in 45 to win more than $2 with this game and 1 in 3,158 to win more than $10. Your much better off going with $2 + tickets. If you must play a $1 ticket, your best to go with WILD 8s DOUBLER 30/100. I rate BINGO EXPRESS a 19/100 making it the 2nd worse game there is, $1 CROSSWORD EXPRESS at 15/100 is the worst.

  27. Off to get a couple more LTL tickets. Again wish we could pool those together for a better shot at winning a bigger prize. It's hit or miss on this one. GLTA tonight.
