A new Wild 10s game was just released. The game sheet has not yet been posted on the OLG site. This is a game like Red Hot 50s except for the $10 crowd. There are 150 Grand Prizes of $10,000 each. This game was issued last year and it did well in my ratings. Plus, it tends not to either improve or deteriorate due to the large number of Grand Prizes. Just Tried 5 stores in Minden and surrounding area. No luck.

This is at odds with the unclaimed prize page on the OLG website. Likely the clerk was mistaken?
I did however pick up 3 tickets in Woodbridge (won $16!) earlier today.

DeleteCleaned out all the lucky lines on the far west end of Ottawa (stittsville/west kanata) broke even with a $18 winner. Didn't do as well as someone my gf knows who took home the top prize if $100k on Black Pearls from the local general store. Looks like I have a new place to buy tickets!

Went to the corner store (Scarborough) this morning to get a few lottos - there are 2 in the same plaza - they had Lucky Lines yesterday - today, they dont have them anymore - any other place i`ve been in the last week didnt have them either - thats a sign to me this game is now retired or soon will be - i would NOT expect them to "roll" the apparent unclaimed top 7 prizes into the next Lucky Lines game, as most likely, those tickets have already been printed, if they were not to "shelve" the game that is - the new $10 Wild 10`s is available in my area. I checked the OLG site and already prizes have been claimed.

Out of the last 18 posted major instant scratch winners I've noticed 3 of them were purchased at shoppers drugmart locations..thats a pretty high percentage , around 18% approx. ..I doubt shoppers sells that high a percentage of scratch tickets to justify that many large wins..think I'll start watching what retailers are selling the major winners, along with a few ticket purchases from shoppers..lol..

Chalk up another Shoppers Drugmart winner. A friend was in today and the lady in front bought a $2 ticket and won $17.7k.

So, that's 2 people here reporting that a clerk stated that "all prizes have been claimed". Is it really possible that OLG just isn't updating their results while we're all going out and buying all these tickets? Lol
ReplyDeleteI check the unclaimed prize page a few times EVERY day - from that, i can tell you, it IS updated daily, it can even be more than once a day, also, it is done on weekends - retailers stating "all prizes claimed" is a "canned" reply to why they don't have a particular ticket - with Lucky Lines, the game has most likely been "retired", replaced now with 3$ Fruit Explosion - a game gets retired when ticket sales are low and/or the top prizes are claimed, Lucky Lines is near an estimated 85% sold - there are not that many OLG sales agents, so it may take some time before they can reclaim all unsold tickets, any remaining tickets now, will most likely be at lesser frequented "out-of-the-way" retailers - the OLG will save $245,000 on this game, by not awarding the unclaimed top prizes, which they are legally able to do, an incentive for them to cancel it now - ya, that fricken sucks i know! lol - the game is most likely going to be "shelved" now, to return at a later time, MAYBE they might increase the top prizes then, as they were not awarded now.

DeleteJust bought the last pack in a store nearby, the clerk said that all the prizes are still unclaimed, but they are no longer allowed to activate any unopened packs and will be returning them. Sucks, hopefully this last pack has some winners in it lol
ReplyDeleteWell it's official. .1776 more lucky lines had an end date of Aug 01.I had a talk with the owner of our small convenience store and he showed me his copy of olg store printout..he's been out of lucky lines for quite sometime now but if he did have a sealed pack he said that the kiosk wouldn't allow him to activate any listed"ended games"..so basically all those unactivated tickets just get "shelved" and wait for olg courier to get them..just like cl66 said they way behind on that also lol..this guys had some old crossword game 3- sealed packs worth for a couple months that he can't activate and they haven't picked them up yet..he also said he can sell his leftover tickets from already open activated packs so there's not many more tickets left to buy...I'm not impressed about that at all...

DeleteLucky line prizes expire Dec 31 2016..lots of time..50 tickets cost $150..you should expect $90 in prizes if you do worse that sucks been there done that..if you do better than you beat the odds..ultimately you want the big prizes which you have 50 chances at 80,000 to 1 odds..

DeleteYeah I like games with a reduced float..and all the grand prizes and lots of secondary prizes left and an acceptable return from small prizes. .lol..maybe I want to much..lol..I'm into the bonus cfl..I don't wish to post how many I've bought yet but this morning I hit $100 ticket and several $20s and lots of $12 ...my return so far is well above the expected 56%..I lay off scrabble for a bit and let the float reduce then reevaluate ..lol..

I use the float as not a determining factor in my ranking - as, if whether or not i can buy a ticket at all is just relevant to me - if i know a ticket is most certainly not available, i wont rank it or do the odds for it, as well, if the unclaimed prize page does not list it, i wont either - the return percentges distribution are also not a factor for me, knowing what prizes and how many of them remain, or what i can estimate at, are, in relation to the estimated number of remaining tickets - the "ranking" is based on how good the odds are across 5 categories: odds to win the cost of your ticket back, odds to win 50$+ / $250+ / $1000+ and $5000+ - a ticket that gives you the best chances at a greater variety of prizes rates high compared to say a "top heavy - low else" game such as Cash-For-Life - the ranking is just MY opinion, i prefer everyone judge for themselves what they think is best, while perhaps taking a look at my views for some assistance

I only like 1 game in your top 10 and I can't get lucky lines anymore..and for odds on $10 and $20 they should rate high for larger prizes. .another misconception about interprovincial games is you and Doug include all the top prizes when you calculate your odds which we both know all the grand prizes aren't in Ontario ..so it's impossible to accurately say someone in Ontario has certain odds to win a grand prize unless they are traveling the entire country buying tickets. .just thought I'd point that out..

You like Bonus-Cash-For-Life, while i think it's a stinker - lol - go with whatever you think is best for you - what was that old "Different Strokes" tv show song..oh ya - "what might be right for you may not be right for some" - lol - higher priced tickets do naturally offer better oods and prizes, but as games progress, those factors can change a LOT, as evidenced by Lucky Lines vs. Turbo Cash - comments Doug and i state, i beleive, are not Ontario specific as far as inter-provincial games, as the developing actual numbers involved just can`t be determined by province - your correct, the way a game can play out, heck, all top prizes could even be won in a single province for all we know 0_o - all Doug and i can do, is take what information IS available and come up with our best "guesstimates"

#1 ??? - MORE LUCKY LINES - the "freak" game, where all top 7 prizes are seemingly untouched with the tickets around 85% sold, left it as the #1 game for odds to win $5000+ - unfortunately, Uncle OLG has gone and scooped up almost all of the remaining tickets! that sneaky cheap s.o.b! lol - apparently now a retired game, you MIGHT find these tickets in some out-of-the-way place still

ReplyDeleteApparently there is a new lotto game coming out at end of September - another along the lines of Poker Lotto / Wheel Of Fortune Lotto - NO specifics are known as yet - it's supposedly a hockey themed lotto, where the "instant win" part is where you watch the display as a hockey net are shown and if you score a goal or hit a target perhaps, you would win an instant prize - the nightly draw, if there even is one, i can only guess what that may be - perhaps matching NHL teams by city name - as, or if, i may know more, i`ll post an update on this

I tried the 5 day free trial..early last week it ranked bonus cfl as being by far the best odds..on here we all know theres better games than that..they offer no explanation as to how they arrive at there numbers..all in all theres way better info here..especially from cl66's updates.except he likes cadillac and I don't. .lol..

I have been playing bonus cfl a lot the past 5 days and at first had an exceptional lucky streak but its came to an end im roughly 160 tickets and close to 80% return. ..mostly from my first 60 tickets which included a $100 and several $20's..
check the app out if you like..but I think cl66 could make a better one with his numbers. .

I'm actually the dev and I'd be happy to explain just exactly how the app works. The actual number you see is a scaled version of "the amount of money available per ticket printed per dollar spent on the ticket". Bonus CFL is ranked high because there's still so much money to be won. The only statistic my app does not incorporate is the number of tickets left to be played because I am not sure how people get these numbers. I assume More Lucky Lines is ranked high here because a lot of tickets have been played. I'd definitely be interested in incorporating this information but as of now, just keep in mind that my app assumes all tickets are still out there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the endorsment Darth : ) - i DO offer explanations on anything i post here and anybody here can ask me anything at anytime and i will reply, at NO cost, lol - that you did beter than expected on your initial return with bonus-cash-for-life and then had it slow isn't a surprise to me, as i find many games when new, SEEM to win above average times with small wins in an apparent strategy to entice people to continually play - with "Scratch This", i find it really odd how they could ever have possibly rated bonus-cash-for-life highly - they must be infatuated with those 5 cash-for-life + 10 $100,000 prizes and don't see the reality of those are 15 prizes out of an estimated 8.5 MILLION available tickets - that gives you odds of 570,000:1! - even a lower expectation of a $1000+ win comes at 105,000:1, while $2 Royal 7's odds for the same $1000+ is 28,500:1 - that's half the price with almost 4 times better odds 0_o - sorry to give another kick to one of your choice games Darth! lol

If you wouldn't mind could you give me an example on how you estimate how many tickets are left? I have an idea but I'm a little uncertain on calculating the uncertanties.

ReplyDeleteI just want to clarify that I was just making a quick justification for bcfl being ranked highly by my algorithm. As I explained above my app compares the average amount of money available per ticket printed, per dollar cost of the ticket. You could say it's a ranking of your average ROI.. So My app is based on official facts released about each scratch game which I thought was ideal at the time. I now realize you can make pretty good estimates about available float so I will start to update my app. It will then be expected ROI instead of average ROI.

DeleteiOS has an app called "ScratchOdds" and they show the remaining prizes. There is a paid version that I did not try, but I assume they extrapolate that data to give you the best scratch odds.

ReplyDeleteyour welcome - i originally "crunched the numbers" to better my own odds - since i beleive in "karma", is why i post them here for FREE for ALL in the hope to better all OUR chances - i happened upon a few lucky lines last saturday morning at a loblaws supercenter, i bought the 6 they had, ended up +$3 - i asked the clerk if they had anymore and they said no - it was the only place that had them i had checked in almost the last 2 weeks, (Scarborough area) - so i don't know anywhere they might be - if anyone does, it's more likely an out-of-the-way lesser frequented lotto retailer where an OLG ticket agent hasn`t yet gone to reclaim the tickets

Sold in Perth, ON. Population 5840, 2011 Census, Wiki. Always (and still) have my suspicions about the unfairness of these scratch games. Truly doesn't seem like the winners are distributed truly randomly and fairly. Would expect a lot more top prize winners in areas of higher sales.
DeleteAnd very often a lot of games with fewer 2nd place prizes compared to 1st place prizes (which would make the 2nd place prize harder to win) see the 2nd place prizes completely gone first. CFL Family $10, CFL Family $4, CFL 1161, Cross Tripler, Money Multiplier, Turbo Cash (before the remaining 1st place prizes were won),.... Just very suspicious as if the 1st place prizes had a controlled distribution while the 2nd place prizes were distributed (truly) randomly.
If it helps,. perth is about 30-45mins west of Ottawa and pretty much the only major town between Stittsville/Kanata and Peterborough on Hwy 7 (well maybe Carleton Place would be in there). I wonder too, but I think it would be more damning if it came out of Kaladar or Madoc or some of the smaller centres along the vicinity of the route than Perth. Then again, if you include it in the Ottawa Valley, that's two major scratch wins in the last month (the other being a lady my gf knows in Palmer Rapids).
DeleteAnother point should be made about the 100k winner in Perth is that person's legal address is in Perth, he may have purchased the ticket in Ottawa as it is close by..it will be on major winners board soon and it will say what store and location it was purchased..kinda strange if it was another shoppers drugmart win.

ReplyDeleteI took my bike out in Toronto and hit up about 20 stores looking for Lucky Lines. A familiar response was that the game is expired and that OLG is not letting them purchase any more packs. The other common response was that all prizes were claimed which is false. I did find two stores with tickets and bought 68 tickets with a 55% net return..yuck. There is only one store with a few left and I'll pick those up tomorrow. Has anyone contacted OLG about Lucky Lines?

DeleteNo, i`m definately playing both Cadillac + Wild 10's - well, when i can afford to 0_o - i`ll play them till my "rating" on them drops to say.. under "60" - i lucked out today on Poker lotto - i bought a 2-line with all-in for 6$ and a mix of other tickets, which i havent yet gotten too, the poker ticket came up with 4 "jacks" so that's an instant win of $350 ^_^ woo hoo! lol - i cannot really answer your "return % on Wild 10's for $100 or less" - as i do not beleive in a rated "return %" as a whole - my view is that, i could spend $100 on tickets X one week and win $20 and the following week, same amount on same tickets and win $2000, so to me, "return %" is unconceivable - what i do subscribe to, is simplistic odds for a single ticket - i can tell you that Wild 10's had 409,686 total initial prizes, 1,440 of those were above $100, that's 0.35%, so 99.65% of the prizes are $100 or less - the odds of winning any prize is 1 in 3.42

DeleteFound and bought 32 more lucky lines in the London and Dorchester area. Won about $61. No luck finding more, but looking every so often at stores that seem less trafficked.
ReplyDeleteAsk the cashier also. Cause at a nearby gas station, one of the scratch cards windows is blocked by a candy bar stand. They had a bunch of Lucky Lines hidden.

Well, made my way through 2 packs of Lucky Lines after reinvesting the winnings. A real disappointment as there was only one win over $10 at $21. A lot of $5's and $3's.

Yeah that's a bad bunch of tickets , for me I played 5 or 6 sealed packs of lucky lines and it seemed like every pack had at least 1 or 2 $20 or higher prizes and I beat the odds on $50 prizes because almost every second pack contained a $50 ticket and yeah lots of $5, $10, $3, $6 and $8.

DeleteLucky lines is pretty much done here in Niagara. I'm going to stop hunting for them, I hated scratching them, it was too tedious. I just like the quicker games now.
ReplyDeletePicked up a black pearl and wild 10 from my last batch of lucky lines winners. Picked up the wild 10 based on cl66's insight, glad I did. Ended winning $30 from the black pearl, and $100 from wild 10. Those games are much easier to scratch, if you're into actually playing and not just using the scanner. Flipped half the winnings for my tickets.
Been following poker lotto lately too, jackpot is over $100k at this point. No significant wins for me from that yet, but will continue to track it.

Nice..me too ..poker lotto spent $15 only pulled in 1 free play today ..I'm still uncertain about wild 10s it seems like 10k prize isn't high enough for a $10 ticket. You could quickly find yourself needing a big prize to get out of the hole if you buy them in volume. .lol..I experienced that with lucky lines , probably need at least 1 of those $1020 prizes to get me more close to even on that game..

Yea the grand prize isn't great for wild 10's but it's odds seem better than the other games. I definitely won't be doing the volume of tickets that I was for lucky lines however. That game put me in a big hole. Didn't keep track but probably around $4-500 in the hole from there. Just never seem to hit any prize over $50 for that one, so I just got deeper into losses there. Haha as you can probably tell, I'm bitter about that game. Just don't understand how all top prizes remain unclaimed. Going to take it slow on tickets for now. The win in wild 10 definitely felt good though.

DeleteFor me Chapman my last bunch of lucky lines 176 tickets my wife scratched them all for me which she did in her extra time. Me I mostly used self checker and would roll the winnings into another bunch from another store..I hated scratching that damn lucky lines game, I was making to many mistakes and lost interest quickly. .I still have about 200 already scratched lucky lines under the seat of my work truck I have yet to self checker them for possible mistakes ..I expect there's a few small prizes we missed...
Delete..my wife gets mad when I just scratch the codes and self checker them..she enjoys playing the games.
For the first while I would scratch lucky lines. Became so efficient that I could finish a game in a couple minutes. Then just got sick of it, because it was too hard to see and was messing up my posture lol. Got others to help play for me to kill time at work. Then eventually when I bought bunches, I would just play until I had one winner and then just used the self scanners for the others.

"Bulk" buying doesnt seem to get "bulk" winnings does it guys? lol, sorry for that jab! ^_^ - i have never bought in "bulk" of any ticket, moreso, simply because it was never something i could afford to do - but even IF i could, i never would, as it doesnt appeal to my senses and i think it would be more like work instead of fun - if i like a ticket, i may buy 2 or 3 of them and thats it - most of the time, i buy an assortment of tickets and mostly a single ticket of each - having a variety keeps my interest - anyhoo, trust your instincts with however you go about it and perhaps, if it does seem like work or gets you let down, then maybe it's time to try a different method - the Lucky Lines insanity still continues! - here's some insight with it, tho i cannot prove it: print runs of tickets are NOT done at 100% - they are done in parts as a game progresses if the intended print run is to exceed a miilion-ish tickets - this can save the OLG $ on printing costs - we all know games are not sold 100%, they are usually done when they hit the 80%ish sold mark - a game could have had 40% of its intended print run done as a 1st order from the printer, then at another time another 40%, then at the end, the final 20% - the OLG can cancel that last order, meaning some intended tickets never actually get made - i work in the printing indiustry so i`m familiar with such - i beleive with Lucky Lines, it's last print run of 500,000 or + tickets was cancelled, so that the current estimate of 550,000 remaining tickets is misleading, that there is only 50,000 out there possibly - we all know they are almost impossible to find - while against the odds, it IS possible the winning tickets for the top prizes that many of us were trying hard for, were never even printed 0_o
ReplyDeleteYeah CL, now you're getting into what I was wondering. Except I'll go one step further by saying I was thinking possibly there never was any majors out there. Maybe it was a cash grab to make up for some other ticket they got burned on by early winners cleaning out the majors right after release. I know that sounds paranoid and I don't really believe it. But let's face it, it's damn near impossible to win a big one, but it should be totally impossible for none of the big prizes to go in an entire ticket run. If, as you suggest, they just inadvertently didn't get around to printing them, then I would call that incompetence, or cheating.
DeleteYour right - it`s an incentive for them to end a game once it gets near that 80% sold mark if theres a considerable amount of prize $ remaining - the person who i know, who works for the OLG, has told me often about how they are constantly memo'd about performance on products, maintaining or increasing profitability - makes sense if a loss was incurred with a product, that another product was "used" to lessen that loss or as a means to assist financing the prizes of an upcoming ticket - another reasoning to explain the apparent disappearance of the remaining Lucky Lines tickets is in just the sheer number of OLG retailers - there are 10,500 of them, if they all had just 1 sealed pack (i think it`s 70 per pack according to Darth), reclaimed by the OLG, that would mean 735,000 tickets, the current statistical estimate on remaining tickets was 550,000 - so if 3 of every 4 retailers returned 1 unopened pack, thats all those 550,000 tickets - so no wonder most of us can`t find any of them - to ensure random prize distribution, tickets are not printed with say, every 4th consecutive one as say, a 3$ win, it could be 2 winners in a row then 8 losers, then 1 winner followed by 3 losers etc - a random generating mathematical formula ensures unpredictability of how winning tickets are spread out over a tickets print run - and so grand prizes for a game could possibly all go early or go late, as is apparent with Lucky Lines - unfortunately it went SO late in the game that it ended before ANY of the top prizes were won 0_o

DeleteI've seen retailers with stacks of various games in their safes with no room to put them in the trays. It could be they weren't selling well in areas vs other games. Let's face it, it's a crummy game to play.
I don't believe anything fishy is going on with the scratch games. Like a casino OLG has the laws of probability on their side. The player might gain an advantage once in a while but in the long term the house always wins.
That's an interesting post cl66 about how they print and release runs of tickets. .Because with a float of over 500k tickets left it was possible maybe they never existedwhich would eexplain why they were so hard to find over the last month..
DeleteI hear ya CL. But OLG knows right from the start which outlets are moving the Lucky Lines tickets and which aren't, and they should at least distribute additional shipments accordingly. But we must also remember that their proper name is Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. And all corporations are in business to suck in as much profit as possible.
DeleteOne point to be made about bulk buying is you should hit an expected return and if you hit say 60% return on say 100 tickets then you could view it as a 60% off sale on your next 100 tickets so a game like lucky lines at $3 a ticket you've spent $600 and received $360 in winnings and lost $240 so you played 200 tickets at a cost of $1.20 a ticket that had decent odds at hitting a big prize. .lol..

ReplyDeleteNHL Lotto?! Yep, it's a new "Watch+Win / Nightly Draw" game like Poker Lotto thats being done in an apparent licensing deal with the NHL. The full complete details are not yet known - 2$ per play gives you 3 shots at a net with targets surrounding a goalie - each target i assume is marked with a prize or reveals a prize if hit - the nightly draw part is matching 5 numbers and an NHL team name - with this one, there's quick pick or a selection slip you fill out - i dont know the individual prize amounts involved, except this is supposed to have a top instant prize of $15,000 - i assume the game would launch right before the NHL season starts - as, or if, i get to know more, i`ll post another update on this.
