Scrabble #1835 Strengthens Its Grip

The game of choice has reached the point of no man's land where the number of tickets left is diminishing slowly but they are hard to find. With 470,000 tickets left to be sold and 10,000 retailers, that only leaves, on average, 47 tickets per retailer - and we know that all such things are not equal. With low sales the OLG will be de-activating the game and that last remaining Grand Prize is destined to find it's way back to the OLG bottom line. Still, it remains in top spot and I'll be keeping my eyes open for them.

SCRABBLEâ„¢

Comings and Goings

No games were retired over the past 10 days but three new ones were added bringing the total of games for sale to a very high thirty-two. There are presently 110 million tickets for sale across the province which is also very high. Looks like some staff at OLG have been burning the candle at both ends.

Coming on line were new versions of Bingo and Cross Tripler plus the old faithful Holiday Spectacular. The latter is a $10 game with a very small float of 1.3 million tickets. We're still a long way out from Christmas. With six $10 - $20 games currently for sale, the field is quite crowded. I expect the Inter-Provincial game Fortune to be pulled very soon.

Cross Tripler #1846 starts its life as the 7th rated game. That is very promising indeed. The new Bingo game is also rated well at 13th of the 32 games. That's a good start for a $3 game with a significant float size of almost 9 million tickets.

Post Script

I have been following the comment thread on prize distribution with interest. It's something that I have mentioned before. My thinking has been swayed by some of the comments over time but I continue to approach the possibility with an open mind.

The reasons why I'm not absolutely convinced that it could not be possible is the opaqueness of how the OLG protects its supplier contracts (not subject to Freedom of Information as release could jeopardize the financial interests of the Province of Ontario) and the Marketing value of ensuring that all parts of the province enjoy the joy of lottery wins. That said, for the commentators that claim that Ottawa is a wasteland - I agree with you!

The reasons why I think it unlikely have to do with the controversy that would ensue if such activity was to become public, and the glaring fact that the OLG has no incentive do to so. They are selling to a captive audience and are making $1.6 billion per year. Why mess with it? Further, we have testimony from one OLG insider that it is definitely not the case.

I agree that the data might be interesting to gather. To do so you would need to obtain OLG data on ticket sales by geographic area. I believe that the OLG uses Census Metropolitan Areas. You would have to compare the sale of instant tickets over time versus large prizes claimed over the same time. Given the small number of large prizes, I think that you might need six months of data, maybe more. And I would reduce the number of CMAs significantly to reduce margins of error. Maybe a GTA, Ottawa, Hamilton, London, and Others breakdown would suffice.

Another approach would be to simply compare the number of large prizes won in lotto games versus instant games on a GTA versus non-GTA basis. There is no fooling around with lotto games (except, apparently, in Serbia). Should we not therefore expect to see the same number of GTA winners in those games, percentage wise, as we do in Instant Games? Or are the buying habits of GTAers different from those not in the GTA? Maybe. It's an interesting subject to debate.

Thanks to the poster who really laid it on the line this past week with his $%#@* scam comments with respect to certain current games. Cracked me up.

It's voting time. May your candidate of choice be elected.

  1. In my deeper look into what i had called a myth: the GTA unfairly receiving
more big prizes / targeting prizes to locations. I performed a "number crunch" on the locations of the residences of all posted scratch ticket winners of $1,000+ (as they are not stated by where it was sold or redeemed). This information is posted on the OLG site and for my "crunch" it yieled 137 results for a one month period (September 18th - October 15th). The GTA for this test is set as 40% of Ontario's population as defined by Wikipedia as well as what specific areas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_Toronto_Area#/media/File:Greater_toronto_area_map.svg. The results are: 58% (79/137) of wins came from outside the GTA and 42% (58/137) came from the GTA. With the GTA at 40% of the population and it received 42% of these wins, then it's apparent that there is no "targeting" of either region.

    1. Nice work CL66. My conspiracy theory is that the goal is not to create an imbalance in the distribution of Grand Prize winning tickets but the ENSURE that there is a balance across the province. One way to look at the question is GTA (as defined by the OLG) versus non-GTA and compare Lotto winners versus Instant Winners. Unless there is a difference between the buying habits of GTA folks versus non-GTA folks, we should see a similar percentage of winners. Do you agree with that hypothesis?

    2. Hi Doug
I see you and everyone are doing an amazing job as per usual...I wanted to show you this maybe you seen it I don't know but I got it last night and it came through this site. I looked in the recent posts but didn't see it so not sure how this Bela Natasha got my email. Has anyone else got this email?
I use to be a very poor man who has always not find luck when it comes to playing the lottery. I have been playing lottery since i was 21 years and now i am 45 meaning i have been playing lottery for 24 years. The biggest amount i have ever won in my life was 400 bucks. But one day my story turns to history after i find this man name on the Internet that he is the best when it comes to winning lottery. This man is a very strong voodoo doc who gives out the numbers that can never fail. After all my years of laboring and struggling to win the lottery i finally won ( $62,000,000) Dr Oluku is the name, email is drolukuspellhome@gmail.com this is the only way to win the lottery and the best way.
Just giving you a heads up if you haven't seen this....

  2. I thought this discussion was very interesting, so I went through the information from http://dart.olg.ca and made a list of where all the winning tickets were sold over the past 6 months, and the population in that town/city/area (from the 2011 Census data). Keep in mind that I'm not sure what OLG's definitions of the rural areas are, so I did not include those populations. This list includes all winning tickets over $10,000, both lotto and instant tickets.

    1. Seems to me that the best way to go about this is to see how much money is spent on the purchase of tickets in each area. If the winning tickets are spread out randomly as OLG says, then just going by winners per area alone would not be an accurate evaluation.

      Delete
    2. Absolutely. Looking at the numbers, you would think places like Windsor and Oshawa (which have more depressed economies) spend more on tickets and thus have more winners opposed to an area like Oakville, which is more affluent.

I would love to see a sales report per area, does OLG release that information?

    3. These numbers would make their "Toronto" only 19% of the population of ontario, whereas Ontario would be around 39% of the population of Canada, is that right? I saw Toronto being 40% of the population of Ontario being thrown around before, how did people come to that number?

      Delete
    4. I used Wikipedia to define the GTA in my posts - they state it as "the combined population of Halton, Peel, Toronto, York and Durham REGIONS", which is near 40% of Ontario. If Toronto was 40% of Ontario's population, i`d sell my house and get the f outta here - ha ha!

  3. Played 2 WILD cards this morning, won $25 on one (5+5x2+5x2), turned that into a bingo (didnt win) 2 WILD cards (didnt win) and a Diamons (didnt win, lol).

But I did win $25 on the poker draw, so ill get some more WILD cards tomorrow and Ill try to avoid the urge to get another Diamond, I think im 5 or 6 deep into these and havent seen anything from it, lol.

Has anyone seen the Holiday Spectacular tickets yet? I havent seen any, not sure if theyre out en masse yet or if theyre taking theyre time sending all the winners to the GTA and waiting to send all the losers to the rest of Ontario :P

    Totally kidding btw

    1. Everywhere I went in London yesterday had the Holiday Spectacular tickets, I bought two and scratched one last night. A $15 winner! Better than Diamond Non-Payout already!

I couldn't find any of the new Crossword Tripler tickets anywhere here though, although a retailer tried to convince me that the old blue ones were the new ones. Nice try, buddy.

  4. Yesterday i redeemed $15 in wins + $22 cash on:

    1 Wheel Of Fortune - $2 instant win / 0 on draw
    1 NHL - $2 instant win / 0 on draw
    2 Poker all-in - $2 instant win / 0 on draw
    1 Golden 7's - 0
    1 Lucky Lines - $3
    1 Crossword (new) - 0
    1 Ace & 8's - 0
    1 Bingo Doubler - $30 ($10 x 3)
    1 Wild Card - 0
    1 Holiday Spectacuclar - $30

    $43 spent - $69 won - $26 profit

I had played the 3 watch+win(lose lol) games first - all 3 had instant $2 wins, so it left me with the #3 in my head - i then chose 7 different scratch tickets, opting to take the 3rd ticket from the top for all of them - 3 of those tickets ending up winning: $3 + $30 (3x $10) + $30. Thankyou #3! ^_^

I will take half those wins with me - around $30 at a time is what i typically spend - with no intention of spending any additional cash - to try again maybe today, if not, then tomorrow - but i won't go to the same place where they were bought - i sense bad luck to do such.

I know someone who was able to pick up the new Crossword Tripler ticket yesterday - in the west end of Toronto - its green in colour with nothing on it to say 16 grand prizes instead of the usual 15 - it was not at the place i had bought my tickets (Scarborough).

With my luck, if I ever manage to win 3 hybrid games in one visit I'd probably be walking out of there without the 1-in-100 Holiday $30 and without the 1-in-1276 Doubler $30. Your luck is amazing.

  5. Curious to know, on average how much money does everyone on this blog spend weekly on scratch tickets & lottery tickets?

    1. $20-$25 +/-$5 depending on the mood. I do check the 'recommended lists' but mainly play games I like to play and feel I'm lucky with. I tend to avoid $2-and-below and $10-and-above games.

      Delete
    2. Im not sure, lol, maybe once every couple weeks i get a "bunch" usually spend around $30-$40, and Ill sometimes just grab a ticket or two in between. Thats scratch tickets though, Ive had atleast 1 ticket for the 649 or the lotto max for every draw for awhile, sometimes more than 1 ticket.

That poker lotto though, Id say I play that more than anything, especially when its up I always take a stab at it when im out, usually 3-4 tickets a week maybe.

Its hard to say, I lump all my lotto stuff into one pile and dont seperate them between scratch / lottery wins, usually what I win I keep to keep playing, so the 25 I won yesterday I took later and got more tickets, then I won 25 on the nightly poker so I took that this morning and got 2 WILD cards a Bingo Doubler, a Crossword Tripler, and a poker ticket.

I try to just play off of what I win, so I usually only come out of pocket 2-3 times a month if that, and of course my family knows I like scratch tickets so they stop by fairly frequently with them for me, the WILD card I won 25 on the other day was a gift, lol.

    3. fudge, just realized I got the old style tripler, lol, oh well...

    4. I've spent anywhere from $20-$100 a week on tickets since the earlier this year. Much of that is rolling wins into more tickets, though. My biggest win came right at the beginning of buying so many tickets ($125 on 15X The Money), probably should have quit while I was ahead!

But really though, I've kept a pretty detailed spreadsheet of my purchases since finding this blog in early August. I've bought 510 tickets worth $2300, actually paid $879 and won $1655. So around a 28% loss on my costs.

    5. I record all lottery results including Instant Games, Lotto Games, 50/50 draws and Hospital Lotteries. In total, I spend $40/wk on tickets but never re-invest any winnings.

  6. So of the tickets I got today (Crossword Tripler, Bingo Doubler, 2 WILD Cards, a poker lotto ticket and a mega dice lotto ticket I won $10, lol, it was on one of the WILD cards (5x2), then I cashed that in and got a Holiday Spectacular but didnt win anything on it, lol, I dont remember winning anything on the $10 holiday tickets last year either, I had some luck with those $10 packs though with the bunch of tickets in them.

    1. Thats why I only play the poker and dice things, the other ones dont go all that often, which kind of makes me think I should play it cause its certainly due.

Ive won a little here and there on the hockey, most was $12, but a lot of $2 wins, I think ive only gotten 1 or 2 wins on the nightly draw though, once for numbers and once for matching the team, lol.

      Delete
    2. Most wins from NHL will be of the $2 at 1-in-3.60 since the next category 2x$2 is listed at 1-in-42.80. Guess that's how they drive the odds of winning something down to 1-in-3.01, lots of small wins.

Still, thanks to Adam Lohonyai for his calculations and assessment which is as follows:

      1. NHL Lotto has a house edge of about 41.3%, which is a little better than a 50/50 draw. In other words, on average, OLG keeps 41.3 cents of every dollar spent playing NHL Lotto. Better than a lot of lotteries, but worse than casino games.

      2. The Instant Win portion of the game is significantly better than the Nightly Draw portion, both in terms of the expected prize value (about 4 times that of the Nightly Draw), and the odds of winning a payout (about 6 times higher chance of winning than in the Nightly Draw).

      3. The combination of flashy animation, small and relatively frequent payouts, and a second chance game that has a bigger top prize (but rarely pays out to anyone) is purposefully crafted to attract and hook gamblers on NHL Lotto.

That said, I've never played this game but I might give it a try eventually.

    3. Tommy,

At 41% house take, that places the NHL game at a smaller return that $1 Instant Games. That's terrible!

    4. I agree, Doug. But the hybrid games are geared towards the player who wants just that, an instant portion and a draw portion and I suppose there is a market for that. And I'm sure they try to take advantage of the average Canadian's love of the game. Still, a 41% hold is not good at all.

For the most part, the only hybrid game I occasionally play is the All-In Poker since the progressive pot is sometimes quite attractive risk/reward-wise vs. a typical $3 instant game.

  8. Thanks to JayDee for http://dart.olg.ca/ - this is where all winning tickets over $10,000 from the past six months were sold and includes the game and the specific store - he refered this to me as help with my deeper look into so-called "prize targeting" - i will look at EVERY single scratch ticket entry there and post a follow up on my results - for now, i`d like to pass on one interesting observation i've had so far: the inter-provincial (all of Canada) $10 Diamond Payout game has had only 1 $1,000,000 grand prize won so far. It was sold in the town of New Liskeard, part of the city of Temiskaming Shores (40km NE of North Bay), which is Ontario's second-smallest city, in terms of population (ref.Wikipedia). - this is proof that you don't need to be in major place to win big! (^_^)

    1. The results are: of 147 wins of $10,000+ over 6 months - 94 (64%) were from outside the GTA / 53 (36%) were from the GTA - as in a prior post, the GTA was set as 40% of the population of Ontario - that the GTA received 36% of these prizes is then further proof that there is no such thing as "targeting prizes" of either region.

    1. Thanks for that breakdown, CL66. Interesting stuff!

On the personal front, the newly released tickets are treating me well, as I won on 3/3 Bingo 3019 ($3+$3+5), 1/2 Golden 7's ($8) and 2/3 Holiday Spectaculars ($15+20) this week. Still haven't found any new Crossword Triplers in London!

  10. Thanks CL66 for that breakdown. So, I am the anonymous that stirred the pot about 'prize targeting'. Now, I have lived in Burlington, Milton, Mississauga, Ottawa within the recent years. What I was getting at according to your list...is that considering the size of Ottawa, I'm very surprised it does not produce more Major prizes. Just like Doug said, Ottawa appears to be a wasteland. Who knows, maybe down the road Ottawa will hit a hot streak and collect a lot of Major Prizes. See my Theory at the very end of this post.

Ottawa (population 1 million) : 3 Major prizes
    Milton (population 80,000) : 3 Major prizes
    Hamilton (population 500,000) : 3 Major prizes
    Mississauga (population 750,000) : 7 Major Prizes

Here is my theory..and this theory..is called 'The Anon Theory'...Did the OLG prize target those specific areas in the GTA because of the crazy growth and significant rise of house prices...to help lessen the burden...and to delay a housing market crash there? Tune into the blog next week folks to find out this spine-chilling answer.

    Sincerely,

    1. Uhm...er... so let me get this clear...you actually offer that the OLG is secretly involved in ... targeting prizes in an effort partially meant to delay a suspected potential housing market crash... what was it Wayne Campbell said in "Wayne's World"... "Yeah right, and monkeys might fly out of my butt" (o_0) - i deal in facts not hearsay and i`m too busy winning often to comment anymore on these conspiracy theories - thankyou Poker lotto today for a nice $100 all-in flush - karma for my efforts here in "keeping it real dawg, know wha i`m sayin', ait, peace out!" (^_^)

    2. Yoinks! thankyou despicable Lucky Lines! i just got a 1 in 1,400 $50 win in 5 games ($20 + $10 + $10 + $5 + $5) - that's $150 i`ve won today, and i won $70 on monday and i`ve... who's the man?! lol ^_^ - the next time i update my photobucket olg wins page the proof will be there.

    3. Congrats on the poker win, I was just checking the results for last nights draw (the 100k went a few days back which is rare) seems like a hundred or more people didnt go all in and missed the chances to double their wins, glad you werent one of them, lol.

I always think that one time I do go all in is gonna leave me with 5k instead of 100k+, it seems to happen failry often that people dont go all in and then end up with the royal flush, that must be a pretty weird feeling.

    4. nice! Despite my conspiracy theories, I won $100 on Extreme Millions....1 in 7400 chance....My biggest win ever on a scratch ticket. Keep on keepin on.

    5. 1 in 7,400 to win 5x your $ - that's extremely crappola lol - with $3 crossword it's 1 in 17 - this is how huge grand prizes are possible - taking a big slice of the pie leaves very little for everyone else.

  11. I stand corrected. Crossword Tripler #1846 is basically a approximate dupe of the previous version (#1830) odds-wise so the SPPB is similar to the previous version. Mea culpa (that means, my boo boo in Latin).

Seems the extra top prize and extra prizes in the over-$100 categories will be paid for by extra tickets with the initial float at 8.82M tickets as opposed to the previous 8.49M tickets.

Hopefully I'll have good luck with this version as well. GLTA.

    1. I sit uncorrected ^_^

There are 4% more tickets this time around and every single prize of $300 and under has also increased 4% in quanitity, so there will be no difference with the results everyone's used to with this game.

  12. There is a new $3 Keno #1417 (red) ticket listed on the OLG unclaimed prize page - it should be widely available on Monday - this brings the total number of scratch tickets to 33, the most i have ever tracked - few retailers have enough space to offer all of them, so you may have to go to more than 1 place to get your choice of tickets - of the 33, $3 Scrabble was deactivated (sealed packs of tickets can no longer be opened and sold) on September 25th and will be retired (no longer listed on the OLG prize page) this Monday / $10 Fortune was deactivated October 2nd and $5 Crystal 7's was deactivated October 9th - 30 games not enough for you? how about 34? as 4 more new Christmas-themed tickets are expected to arrive starting Monday November 2nd - should the OLG offer so many tickets? or is this too much? - no matter what they offer, i will continue to do my "work" here in offering an informed opinion on what's good and what's bad. (^_^)

  13. Soon as that holiday spectacular comes out I'm buying some. Even though its a $10 game, from my understanding its Provincial and not inter-provincial. A bonus CFL needs to come out, DCFL was awful and regular CFL is mediocre at best. I personally only play the $10+ games and CFL, that's it. I'm waiting to see this $30 game that Doug said was supposed to be coming. It's got me curious.

  19. For those that like Poker at the Casinos, Point Edward OLG the Caribbean Stud is at $227,000 as of Oct 22 and Caesars Windsor $101,000 as of Oct 21.

Lost $200 each at both places. Point Edward added $60,000 to their jackpot in hopes someone will win it. Jackpot was never won for past 5+ years. After the jackpot has been claimed the Caribbean Stud will be removed and replaced.

  20. I have a theory about "Hen's Teeth" and would love to hear from anyone who has knowledge/insight into ticket distribution...or anyone who would like to play along.

I have a few local stores with Scrabble tickets left. I've been buying them up one at a time with no winners. So here is my theory and I think it is backed up by something that CL66 shared in September. The retailers that have Scrabble tickets left...the ones in my area at least...are small stores in small towns that are never busy when I'm there so I would guess their volume of sold tickets is low.

Since their volume is low, it is entirely possible that the tickets they are selling for Scrabble are from a much earlier shipment as they'd have no need to replace what they already have.

If that is true, then it makes sense that the chance of them having a winning jackpot ticket is really much less than the listed odds because the winning jackpot tickets from the earlier batches have all been claimed and if the winners are spread out amongst batches of printed/shipped tickets, they likely never even ordered/received the last batch.

Based on this, it seems almost impossible to win that last prize from low volume retailers. I know many of us have been chasing the tickets that are on their last legs with really dismal results (most recently Scrabble, 15X and Fruit Explosion). Perhaps this is why. Well that and HELLO it is gambling LOL.

I have won $5, $20 and $20 on 3 of the last four Wild Cards I have bought so I think I will leave the rest of the Scrabble tickets and focus on those.

    1. All I have to say is......I bought 4 Holiday Spectacular scratch tickets...the odds of winning are 1 in 3.32 or something....the 4 I got are 006,007,008,009...and not scattered ones....they are one right after the other....NO WINNERS....THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT...HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE.....I'm going to be knocking on OLG's door. I also noticed Holiday Spectacular already lost a Grand Prize, rip off. You might as well spend your money on hookers and blow, at least you know you are getting something for you money.

    2. Alicia, right now the prize distribution is rigged according to my insider, majority of Major Prizes are being distributed to the GTA to help with the cost of the housing market and growth in those areas. This is called the "Anon Theory'. Unless you live in the GTA, I wouldn't recommend buying scratch tickets for a while.

    3. Stores where the person in "charge" of the tickets, may not be around that much, means another person(s) handles them more often, so they are less inclined to manage them well. Ticket trays may end up sparse or have older tickets that were not returned to the OLG on time so they were stuck with them. As i know it, stores have until their retirement date to return tickets by to receive credit on them. While odds favour that major prizes are spread out over a tickets availability, it has been proven to be able to vary greatly. Lucky Lines was a ticket that previously had: (1) all it's top prizes never won over 4 months of availabilty and (2) all it's top prizes won in the first 9 days of it's release. All prizes are seeded by use of "random number generation (RNG)", which ensures no patterns with wins. So my view is that there is no reason for bias with distribution. I do not recommend "chasing of tickets". I beleive just because a ticket has the lowest odds for a grand prize is not reason enough to desire it above all others. I've said it before and i`ll say it again - lol : I've never won a grand prize on a scratch ticket, don't know anybody who ever has, and most likely i never will. The odds for such are typically 1 in a million, so i'd say that's reason to place more value on a ticket from it's other prizes. I suggest to play the tickets you like in a usual manner, regardless of it being a "chaser" or even because it's new. It's nice to see you doing well with a ticket i have rated #1 for awhile now. Sorry to Doug tho that they are dumping his #1 lol.

    4. just because you get numbers in succession doesnt mean those will be winners, lol, the odds being 1 in 3 doesnt meant that for every 3 tickets someone buys there HAS to be a winner, its just a way of saying for X amount of tickets pritned there are X amount of winners, and thats the ratio.

maybe ticket 005 and 010 were the winners, lol, Im a big believer in a persons attitude determining whether they have a good time with things or not a good time, you seem to have a poor attitude when it comes to these tickets, if I felt the same way you seem to I would never buy another one again in my life, lol

    5. Thanks CL66 that was helpful! I will change my strategy a little while bearing in mind the astronomical odds and that strategy or not it, is still gambling. Maybe I'll buy ONE more Scrabble LOL. After all, there is still a $10k prize on top of the grand prize that's left.

    6. You may find my weekly "Number Crunch: Compact" of use. This is where at a single glance you can see how well all tickets are in 12 categories. The numbers there, from left to right, are ratiings for odds to win from the highest $ to lowest $, ending with an overall rating. Here's how Scrabble rates out of all 32 games:

      $50K+ 3rd
      $5K+ 3rd
      $1K+ 12th
      $250+ 9th
      $100+ 17th
      8-10x+ on your $ 21st
      6-8x+ on your $ 19th
      5x+ on your $ 27th
      4x+ on your $ 29th
      3x+ on your $ 7th
      2x+ on your $ 23rd
      Any Prize 9th
      Overall rating 52/100

Myself, i favour games that are good on odds on the low end with decent odds on the high end. A game like Cashingo i never play as you may be able to tell from it's numbers: 7 12 19 5 26 18 7 30 31 24 18 2 = 43/100. It's a game where it seems the only time you do win, you just win your $3 back most always. That lacks appeal to me. I provide such full information so someone can choose for themselves an ideal ticket to play based on what THEY feel is an ideal amount of $ they are looking to win. With Scrabble, that it is the 4th worst game to win more than 3x your $ on, is why i never played it much, yet i do like playing crossword games.

    7. One last point i`d like to make on Scrabble is that - i strongly beleive there are VERY few tickets actually out there across the whole province - as the vast majority will have already been reclaimed by the OLG by tomorrow when it's scheduled to be retired - and moreso is the fact, in my beleif/estimation, 10% of it's 3.14 million tickets were never even printed - to me that means there's like a 99+% chance that sole remaining grand prize isn't out there - if i happened upon them, i`d still get 1 or 2 maybe, but that's it. (^_^)

    8. CL66,

You have made this comment more than once and I it baffles me. The odds of winning are not impacted by whether tickets were printed or not (an earlier thread and I agree with you) or if someone has the ticket at home and not yet scratched it or if it went down in a house fire. The odds are not impacted by any of that and we can never know let alone quantify any of those possibilities. Further, one's chances of winning are microscopic under any circumstance.

I certainly agree that the number of tickets available for sale are extremely limited but that should not have any impact on your buying decisions.

    2. Yes, CL66! Perception determines reality. I am a student of the quantum science behind this incredible truth, and in fact, only started buying scratch tickets as a way to experiment "in the field" (among exploration in other areas of life) to practice my ability to literally determine my reality based on my thoughts and emotions (attitude) in the moment! Happy to see these scientific/spiritual ideas present themselves here...:) good luck to everyone...!

    3. Thankyou for the sentiment - i beleive i do well with scratch tickets as i think i have a good perspective on them, i`m good with math, have insider knowledge and i apply my sense of karma with all of it - while i`m non-religious, that does not mean i cannot be spiritual - a few words can apply to much more than what is apparent, such as Newton's "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction", to as kids, when we are told to "look both ways before you cross the street" - kudos to those who "kno wha im sayin". 4. @ uplifter and CL66. So, if people truly believe they are going to win the lottery, does that mean the positive energy will bring the fortune to them. I feel like that is what you are saying. If you are science student...you do realize that two negatives make a positive correct. Therefore, in theory, 2 people who have negative emotions towards lottery playing will in fact have a better chance at winning....than 2 people who think positively about winning the lottery. This is a proven fact....this why every time someone wins the lottery they say things like....."oh my, I never ever thought I would win the lottery".....not "oh yeah I knew I was going to win the lottery, its no big deal." I rest my case. I cannot claim this as the 'Anon Theory' because this theory already exists and is a proven fact.

    5. You saying that is what happens "every time" is denying those that have not said that, there are many people who claim to have seen repeating numbers in their waking lives, license plates, phone numbers, etc, and have played those numbers and won, more and more you see people using numbers from dreams winning.

To people that believe in this stuff, these are all side effects of a person "in the zone" as it could be called, and as this way of thinking / believing is become more popular you are seeing it more and more of people dreaming they would win and then winning, or dreaming numbers and using those to win etc.

There are some players who operate in one mode, either they play not thinking they will win and try to rely on odds and luck, and then there are those that play that ignore odds and believe they can win every time, CL66 appears to be a mixture of the two, combining logic and rational odds based playing with a more spiritual out look as well, which I believe is the best way of playing imo.

Leaving runners stranded on base and not getting the bunt down or sac-fly is absolutely embarrassing. These were basic fundamentals that I learned playing little league baseball. The Blue Jays just flat out beat themselves. This is coming from an actual Blue Jays fan and not a band wagon jumper. I still have all their memorabilia with autographs from the 1992-1993 team. I was a little kid back then...and to think the next time they made the playoffs, I would be an adult lol.

  24. Does anyone know of a website that gathers the same detailed info for Lotto Quebec games? My Dad (who's retired) has been spending a lot of $$ on scratch tickets as of late. I found this website months ago and have visited a few times. Unfortunately, the info here doesn't help my Dad as he's a Montrealer. I'd like to give him the best odds for winning - all he seems to win is free tickets and the odd $3 or $6 dollars. :/

    Thanks! Cheers! :)

Though the quebec lotto website does have some information on their cards here: https://loteries.espacejeux.com/en/useful-information/prize-claims-status#million

If you scroll up and click the individual games themselves, it would keep your dad from buying tickets for games that have no top prizes available (if thats what he is after).

    4. I did notice LQ scratch games are different in the way they structure their prizes. They tend to have a lower top prize compared to OLG games for the same price but at the same time the odds of winning the top prize are 'easier'.

And their games seem to have better odds of winning any prize, although that prize tends to be of the 1x, 2x or 3x variety.

But with no one doing any analysis or games ranking, like Jason points out, the best one could do is check the unclaimed prizes listing and not buy games with no top prizes.

  28. If we can speak on attitude for a little here, Id like to add, anyone that has achieved success didnt do it with a negative mindset. This is mirrored across the board into pretty much every avenue, from anyone on the cutting edge of anything from business to music to sports and everything else, they all believe and have spoken highly of a winning mentality which is always focused positively towards their goal.

Buddha spoke of this Law when he told us that, "All that we are is the result of what we have thought."

Jesus also spoke of our power to create when we instructed us in the way to employ this Law, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24

I think and speak positive. I focus on what is good. I refuse to fear or dwell on the negative."

“Men do not attract what they want, but what they are.”
“A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.”
“Cherish your visions. Cherish your ideals. Cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment, of these, if you but remain true to them your world will at last be built.”
“The soul attracts that which it secretly harbors, that which it loves, and also that which it fears. It reaches the height of its cherished aspirations. It falls to the level of its unchastened desires – and circumstances are the means by which the soul receives its own.”
“Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves, they therefore remain bound.”
“Every action and feeling is preceded by a thought.”
“Right thinking begins with the words we say to ourselves.”
“Circumstance does not make the man, it reveals him to himself.”
“You cannot travel within and stand still without.”
As the physically weak man can make himself strong by careful and patient training, so the man of weak thoughts, can make them strong by exercising himself in right thinking.”
“Every man is where he is by the law of his being; the thoughts which he has built into his character have brought him there, and in the arrangement of his life there is no element of chance, but all is the result of a law which cannot err.”

I agree with Uplifter, I see these games and their outcome not as a game of chance, or purely odds based, but as a reflection of the state that person is in.

I can in part agree with anonymous on one thing, those people that say they "didnt think they would win" were they stitting around talking about how "fixed" these games are? or about how only terrible people get lots of money? Im assuming in most cases, and as has been stated by the winners themselves, they werent even thinking about it at all. So many of them have said they "just bought a ticket on a whim" or were getting something else from the store and decided to get one, this does not disprove any of what people believe about a positive attitude, it actually aligns with it pretty well.

    1. The main issue most people have with this stuff are "seed thoughts", if we are to believe that a positive state of being and outlook are the keys to positive outcomes, then ideally to achieve a wholly positive result you would then require whole positivity throughout. This is where most teachings on these matters fail and why a large amount of people who try to use such things to influence their lives fail as well, because they neglect these seed thoughts.

Its as if one was to make a sandwhich, say you wanted a BLT, ideally the sandwich in your mind would be delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and the bacon prepared exactly how you like it. To relate this to what im talking about, its like most people have this idea of a great sandwich, but through the preparation up to when the sandwhich is fully realized and ready to eat, theyve been dropping the ingredients on the ground, theyve used moldy bread, and they burnt the bacon. From beginning to end an attitude of positivity should be held, and a belief that the persons vision can (and a knowledge that it will) come true must be held also.

Most people dont even start off in the right place, they dont have money so they want money, theyre unhappy so they want happiness, from the very beginning their mindset is about fixing a negative thing, instead of embracing a positive thing. To fully utilize these types of teachings one cannot half step and except perfect results, this is an all encompassing, just as a big lottery win could affect many aspects of your life, so does your attitude, be it positively or negatively focused.

Seed thoughts matter, this is why Ive seen so many people with all the hope, faith and belief in the world walk out of places completely broke, theyve gone in hoping to win their rent / car payments or a bunch of money that they didnt have, they werent focused on the good things in their lives and building from a place of positivity, this is why most teachings on this fail also, most people looking for this type of stuff wont be able to break free of their present conditions enough to put the teachings into practice.

  29. Jason,

I agree with your main thesis on the philosophy of life. Norman Vincent Peale was a well published author promoting this ideal. I'ts not that, when practiced, that it brings good things to you. Rather, it aids the practitioner in accepting whatever life has to offer, good and bad.

It strikes me that what your talking about involves the big picture living of ones life. Applying it to scratch tickets strikes me as being a tad base. Scratch tickets are just fun and no one should ever treat them as anything else.

If you are living your life in accordance to what you have written then you have very little to be concerned about. Sunny ways, my friend, sunny ways.

  30. Doug,

Yes, i agree with your hypothesis of seeing a similar percentage of winners with lotto winners versus instant winners. Sorry for continually baffling you - lol. Here's a more in depth view on my perspective of the Scrabble ticket as of late. One assumes that all stated tickets for a game get printed and are distributed. In my 20+ (ugh i don't like to think about that - lol) years in the printing industry it's actually not often our final numbers match the initial quote we receive. As well, for us, considerable orders are done in segments which allow our customers to better handle costs having payments spread out instead of having to pay in full. I have tracked all scratch tickets now for a little over 2 years and i see that games with floats of 3.5 million and under (48 are in my "books"), it averages 15% of prizes unawarded which we equate to 15% of tickets being unsold. A game with a full 3 million tickets printed, with 15% always being unsold, would mean an ongoing loss on printing + distribution costs of what i would estimate as much as $75,000 per game. I don't see how any company would operate in such a manner. This is why i beleive it's more likely that 10% of tickets, if needed, are left to be printed last or if not needed, then are not be printed at all. This would reduce the associated printing and distribution loss to a more believable 5%. This figure of 5% also seems moreso of an acceptible target as to when a game gets deactivated. Your post for October 19th, stated an estimated "470,000 remaining tickets" with "the OLG will be de-activating the game". My estimate for October 15th was 305,000, for October 22nd 285,000. The game was deactivated back on September 25th. So the OLG has had nearly a month now to reclaim these tickets. Now of course, this is speculation here as we can only surmise so much, as the OLG does not reveal full information. I always try to separate my posts clearly as whether they are opinion or as fact. So my beleif in this 10% figure, applied to Scrabble, would mean 300,000, which is quite near my last 2 estimates. This is why i beleive there are very, very few tickets out there, which would also mean that there are very, very few chances that sole remaining grand prize is out there also.

    1. Colin,

I agree with your analysis as to how tickets are printed and how the business works. Others have disagreed with the picture it paints but to me it comes down to good business practices. I would strongly suspect that there is not a single game for which all the tickets are printed.

If it were not so, then someone is sitting on top of literally 2.5 Million Double Cash For Life #1170 tickets. That would represent a waste of money to print, store, and ultimately destroy.

Notwithstanding that reality, my point is that none of it actually changes the odds of winning. We can discuss what the chances are of anyone winning but that does not impact on my chances of winning.

To illustrate: If Scrabble, in round numbers, had a float of 3 million and 500k are left to be sold, and we assume that the final 10% (300k) are never actually printed, my chances of winning the Grand Prize remain one in 500,000. You could also say that there is a 60% chance that the winning ticket is never printed, plus, if it is , then my chances to win it are 1 in 200,000 but that works out to still being one chance in 500,000 for me to buy the winning ticket. My chances to win are not impacted by anything other than the number of unclaimed prizes and the estimated number of unsold tickets whether they are printed or not.

      Do you agree?

      Doug

    2. Are the odds on the OLG site based on an individuals chances of winning that prize, or are the numbers done by how many prizes there are?

If someone gave you a dozen eggs and told you two of them are rotten, then removed one of the rotten ones, wouldnt that decrease the odds of you getting a rotten one? I assume these tickets are the same thing, though the prizes significantly more desirable than a rotten egg, but if you are buying tickets from a game that has been running for a month and only 1 of the top prizes was actually printed and distributed, wouldnt that mean your chances of getting a top prize go down?

I usually prefer not to think about these things, as I cant really do anything about it, the only thing I can do really is play games I enjoy / have been "lucky" with and avoid buying tickets where all of the top prizes have been claimed.

I think what could make a big difference here is if the OLG decides their odds based on the chances of you getting 1 of the top prizes vs 1 of 10, but I admittedly dont know enough about these things to say really, lol. Again if we look at the egg scenario your chances of getting a rotten egg go up depending on how many of the eggs are rotten.

      Delete
    3. Jason,

I follow your analogy but in the case of Scratch tickets you don't know that the one rotten egg has been removed. And if you believe that the tickets are printed in an above board and strictly random manner (which I do) then the chances of the rotten egg being removed are based entirely on the true odds of that happening.

As a player, we can't know this nor take it into account in our analysis. Now, if the OLG knew for a fact that the one remaining Scrabble Grand Prize is not available for sale nor will it ever be available for sale, then they would be perpetrating a fraud on the buying public. Not a pleasant thing to contemplate and not something that I believe to be true.

      Doug

    4. Jason,

The odds stated by the OLG are to always to win a SPECIFIC prize only. Let's take the new Crossword Tripler as an example. There are 8.8 million tickets with 190 prizes of $100, so the odds to win $100 are 1 in 46,300 (actual figures rounded off). There are 4,000 prizes of $100 OR MORE tho, so the odds to win a prize of $100 or more are 1 in 2,200. That's quite a difference, 46,300 vs. 2,200 regarding the same $100. The OLG will always state odds in this manner, while i always state them in a "or more" manner. One coming game that will be uniquely different regarding this is the Gift Pack. The odds will be stated for the individual tickets within it and not for the Gift Pack as a whole. Last years version had (numbers not precise here, just close for illustration) 5,000 $100 prizes stated by the OLG. There was actually 8,500 prizes of $100 for the Gift Pack as a whole. That being, 5,000 x $100 individual winning ticket(s) and 3,500 multiple winning tickets (there were 6 tickets in last years Gift Pack) that totalled $100 for the Gift Pack (example: winning $50+$25+$25 from 3 tickets). Any numbers i state for the Gift Pack will be as a whole and NOT for the individual tickets within it. That reminds me btw, someone i knew with that release had told me they had only won $5. I told them they had made a mistake, as the minimum you can win with it is $10. They obviously had a $5 winner from another ticket(s) they had mistaken as a loser.

      Delete
    5. Doug,

True, i also beleive "none of it actually changes the odds of winning". For me, the matter is, since the vast majority of these remaining tickets, are not actually out there (in my opnion), that places a major negative asterisk to the odds on that sole remaining grand prize. While the game is currenty listed on the Unclaimed Prize page, it is no longer on the (left) Instant Games list.

  32. I do not expect much with new games to be released for the rest of the year after the coming (November 2nd) christmas (no p.c. crap for me with use of the word "holiday" instead) tickets are issued. Last year there were only 2 non-christmas games ($1 Crossword Express + $3 Scrabble) released in November and December. There were 3 tickets out on December 29th tho, but they were just replacing deactivated christmas tickets. There are currently 32 games, 5 have been deactivated, leaving 27 ongoing. Adding the 4 new christmas tickets brings it back up to 31, making it more than enough for the next 2 months. The variable in this is OLG policy to immediately deactivate a game when no grand prizes of $100k+ remain. If this occurs it may spur an immediate new release as a replacement. There are 2 games that currently pose this possibility: Cash For Life and Aces & 8's.

  34. (UN)Lucky Lines had it's sole remaining Grand Prize claimed yesterday. This game is GP cursed! lol. All 3 grand prizes have been claimed in just 3 weeks of release. This game will continue to be sold regardless of there being NO grand prizes available. An estimated 1.9 million tickets remain.

Scrabble was retired yesterday with 121 of 1362 $100+ prizes remaining, which included 1 grand prize of $75k and 1 $10k prize. This works out to 8.88%, which i equate to 3,141,600 tickets x 8.88% = 279,099 final tickets. I stand by my theory that the vast majority of this figure is for tickets never printed / distributed.

"Tripling 7's" is a new $5 ticket listed on the unclaimed prize page: It's shown prize structure is close to what Crystal 7's was. A noticeable difference is in the amount of $100+ prizes. Crystal 7's had 2,904 while this new game has 2/3rd's of that, at 1,847. Once a fact sheet has been posted on the OLG site i will give a review on this new game.

CL66, does this contradict Alicia's post above? Wouldn't it be that even a low volume retailer in a small town who is still selling a packet from the front end of a distribution can still have the winning ticket since the winning tickets can be anywhere?

    3. Yes, i believe a winning ticket of a grand prize can be absolutley anywere. It's just sensible tho, to side with what's more likley than unlikely. The only advantage i see in being in a big place is having the FIRST CHANCE at some prize. Someone in a tiny town most never heard of, could possibly happen upon the very last Scrabble ticket available in the entire province, which came from early distribution and win it's sole remaining grand prize. It's just that's EXCEPTIONALLY unlikely. As i stated in a previous post, i beleive the vast majority of these tickets have been reclaimed / never distributed or never printed, meaning that it's highly unlikley that grand prize is available out there. In another post of mine, i showed proof of unlikely wins being possible. The first and only winner so far of $1,000,000 from the Canada-wide game $10 Diamond came from the 2nd smallest city in Ontario: New Liskeard, part of the city of Temiskaming Shores. All too often on here i read of those who chase after a scarce ticket, with perceived great odds on a nice gp, who end up disappointed or angry. When the same ticket was played earlier on in a normal manner there wasn't such animosity. I side with what i know and what results i can usually get, than a gp i'd wish for. Of course i still have that tiny hope that one day... lol. I play tickets in a usual manner, regardless if it's rare or new. I encourage people to go with what works for them, but too be open to some of the advice that many of us on here provide. We all want each other to do well! (^_^)

    4. I enjoyed all the theories around how tickets (especially grand prizes wins) are distributed and printed.

The Lucky Lines renews my faith that the grand prizes are printed and distributed randomly. :)

I did buy a Scrabble today with no luck and my local store in a small town does still have 9 or so sitting in their tray. I won't be rushing in there tomorrow to buy all 9...or going at all. It is fun chasing those last remaining tickets but I do agree that my chance of winning is still 1 in over two hundred thousand, not one out of the nine left. ;)

  35. Someone at the OLG must have read about my complaing that there's too many tickets - 3 of the $1 tickets were deactivated last Friday, October 23rd: 5x The Money, $10,000 Spin & Bingo Express - also deactivated then was $3 Sweet Cash.

    1. There are a few games with no top prizes left and two versions each of Bingo, Keno, Crossword and Crossword Tripler and games that are basically different themes of their replacements (ie. $10 Diamond replacing $10 Fortune) so it's not surprising there will soon be less interest in the older versions leading to falling sales leading to give the OLG a reason to pull the game.

In my opinion, part of the reason for such a multitude of game offerings is because it's similar to the beginning of the television season. Throw a lot at the audience and see what sticks ie. is popular and then (eventually) pull the ones that don't do well.

  37. I've been playing the draw games for 5 months already hoping to scoop the pot and the results are not that encouraging. So that I decided to try luck in scratches. Thanks for sharing your rating.

    1. Well, draw games are a different kind of animal. They're really all-or-nothing type of experiences. And it's only with the recent changes paying out non-cash free tickets that they've tried to change the feel of the game. Previously, betting one play per draw you'd only expect to win the 3/6 once every two months or so....

Still, you have to be in it to win it so I'd probably say that it doesn't hurt to have one play per draw per game.

Instant games have a higher hit rate, usually 1-in-4 or so, so the feel of the game will be different. Good luck with them and have fun!

  38. I have also been having good luck with the new $3 crossword. I just scratched my 4th $15 win. I think crossword and scrabble (when it comes back) are my preferred. Although I did also win $25 by matching the diamonds on the $5 bingo. Looks like I'm on a bit of a streak. Still waiting on a big one though.

    1. Cool. That $15 (5x) win sports 1-in-17 odds so it should show relatively often with average odds. My luck hasn't been as great and I've only had one $15 so far and it was a WDSW (Win Disguised as Smaller Win, ie. I thought it was a $5 winner when brought to cash it in) so I didn't even get to enjoy it while scratching! Arrrgh!

  39. I've won a few meager prizes the past couple of months. I did win another $50 on a Fast 200's and $80 on a Scrabble but forgot to take pics of those two winners. I did end up winning $200 from a Super Bingo which I did remember to snap: http://i1030.photobucket.com/albums/y368/scottydog1719/Mobile%20Uploads/DSC_0007_zpsff5m6juh.jpg Here's a cute little story: My brother took a liking to the $5 Bingo Doublers so once in a while he asks me to get him a ticket or two when I go out to get mine. He asked me a couple of weeks ago to get him a two and he ended up wining $5 on one and $200 on the other!!! So that was pretty cool and I was happy for him until he asked me to get him another one about a week later. One in which he ended up winning another $300 on!! lol

Anyways, good luck to all and happy scratching!!

And I can see why your brother likes you picking out his tickets because you have the lucky hand.lol.
I hope he is grateful or atleast is aware of the odds to snag those kind of prizes.

    3. Although I initially only played CFL, I've come to enjoy the crossword offerings and yes, it's soooo easy to miss letters and words and prizes.

I've had LDWs (Loss Disguised as Wins), WDLs (Wins Disguised as Losses), WDBWs (Wins Disguised as Bigger Wins) and WDSWs (Wins Disguised as Smaller Wins)! I've run through the gamut of boo-boos!

    1. I've never had any discrepancies with the olg self checker. .
My beef is with the old 1776 lucky lines fiasco. .they advertise 3 grand prizes of $75k then proceeded to sell tickets and never payout a single grand prize. ..is that not fraudulent.
Can I advertise a raffle with attractive prizes sell tickets then just decide to not give any prizes out..?
Anyway 1776 lucky lines is old news on here...life is to short to worry about things you can't control. ..gotta move on.
      I'm over it.

    2. Betcha that vid is a hoax. I just read one page and it had grammar errors in it. That just don't happen in legal paperwork. And I still think Lucky Lines 1776 was a direct rip off. Always will.

  44. Well this ticket i NEVER thought we would see again - another new game is listed on the unclaimed prize page but is not yet on the instant games list with a fact sheet - $5 INST MILLION 1684 - which i assume is the return of $5 Ontario Instant Millions - listed are 3 grand prizes of $1,000,000 and with other top prizes of 2x $100K, 2x $25K and 5x $10K.

    1. It's been a few years since the OIM (Ontario Instant Millions) was seen. Maybe they're testing the waters to see if sales will do better this time around. And with $3M+ going to the top prizes, I'm expecting the odds-to-hit to be greater than 1-in-4 especially if they stick with a 67% payback.

Still, nice to have a game where you can be instantly "Millioned".

But earlier this evening I finally found a store with them and picked a one up. Also picked up a couple Tripling Red 7s. All 3 tickets were "winners", although at $5+$5+$7 it was a modest $2 profit. Better than losing money, I guess!

  46. I've decided to change my SPPB calculations back to what I had it originally. This is to basically help me considering my own purchasing habits. Also, as I start to include higher games played and odds into the calculation the results tend to get pretty close to the stated odds as the truly higher prizes are so few to begin with.

I find there's more of a variation in the SPPB calculation when I limit the number of games included to 500 or so and under. Hopefully, this will provide a better reflection of what to expect, especially for players with average luck and average play.

    #1417 Keno (based on 400 games played): 1-in-3.43, 60.7% SPPB;
    #1862 Polar Bear (200): 1-in-3.90, 57.3%;
    #1863 Merry Money Multiplier (280): 1-in-3.89, 53.7%;
    #1864 Frosty Tripler (467): 1-in-3.71, 53.7%;
    #1858 Tripling Red 7s (311): 1-in-3.98, 52.0%.

    GLTA,

    TmF

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I will add that if I increase the games played for Tripling 7s to 509 from 311, the hit rate becomes 1-in-3.92 and the SPPB becomes 57.2%.

Basically, the more games you play the higher the payback since, your luck being equal, you have more chances to encounter a larger prize.

The only reason #1863 Money Multiplier is lower is because the next prize up which wasn't included in the calculations has odds of 1-in-560 range and didn't make my 500 games cutoff point. I'm sure if they were included the SPPB would be bumped up a few percentage points as well.

  48. I see the OLG has finally updated its unclaimed ticket report, first time since June 29, the date of the last updated-to list. This one, however, says it is only up to date to August 26. Two months ago. Why not more current?

I noticed a long listed $1 million unclaimed Toronto-area ticket from October 22, 2014 was now absent from the list - so is this ticket claimed now (has not appeared in the winners lists at all, however) or has it actually been updated and discarded, even though the OLG unclaimed file suggests it is dated back to August 26 only, so tickets from October, even outdated ones, should still be there?

Little things like this raise concerns for me about transparency at the OLG and the ongoing power it has to play shell games with basic facts about lotteries, even if not maliciously intended. Surely they have enough staff to be totally on top of such things in a timely fashion?

    Out of all 36 games:
    Ranks 8th on winning $50,000+
    Ranks 16th on winning $5,000+
    Ranks 17th on winning $1,000+
    Ranks 16th on winning $250+
    Ranks 12th on winning $100+

Ranks 9th on winning 4x your $ or better
Ranks 15th on winning 3x your $ or better
Ranks 26th on winning 2x your $ or better
Ranks 27th on winning any prize

The good news: it's very good on odds to win 6-10x your $. The bad news: there's only 14 prizes over $777 and it's below average on odds to win any prize-2x your $. You can win only once on this ticket. Match a LUCKY number to one of YOUR numbers to win a prize. If you match a LUCKY number to one of "RED" YOUR numbers (1 in 39), you win TRIPLE a prize of $7(90%), $17(6%), $27(3%), $70(1%) or $777 (1 in 610,960). Uncover a “SUN” symbol (1 in 509) to win $77. In the BONUS area, match 3 symbols (1 in 21) to win a prize of $5(49%), $10(44%) or $50(7%). Uncover a “7” symbol in the BONUS area (1 in 55) to win TRIPLE a prize of $5(59%), $10(40%) or $50(1%). I rate $5 Tripling Red 7's 63/100, making it the 4th best ticket out of all 36 games and as 4th best of the 9 $5 tickets.

  58. A fact sheet has not yet been released for the new $5 Instant Millions game, but further prize info has been posted on the unclaimed prize page for it. That this game offers a grand prize that is 10x more than any other $5 game can possibly mean there are 10x LESS other prizes. This is evident when looking at the number of $100+ prizes for all $5 games:

    16,428 BINGO DOUBLER
    10,973 $500 FRENZY
    5,833 WILD CARD
    4,262 MERRY MONEY MULTIPLIER

    1. I haven't seen those tickets yet.

A retailer at Mac's in Walkerton told me he sold a grand prize for the new tripling 7's game just a few days ago. The unclaimed prize list doesn't show it yet so I'll wait and see if it actually pans out...this same store also had a million dollar encore prize winner from Tara buy his ticket there also about a month ago.

Uncover a STAR symbol and your prize is DOUBLED. A "STAR" symbol can appear from 1 to 5 and 7 times. You can win from 1 to 5, 7 and 10 times on this ticket. I rate $5 Merry Money Multiplier 69/100, making it the 2nd best game there is, very close to #1 $5 Wild Card 70/100. Please note, that as a Christmas themed ticket, it will be deactivated earlier than is the norm. While it's expected to be deactivated Christmas day, if enough tickets remain, that date woud be extended.

    1. Jason, the previous version #1416 had a purple background and a green scratch area where the numbers are visible. The new #1417 version has a... um... fuschia (don't ask me how I know this word!) background and blue scratch area. So, yes, I guess it's reddish/pinkish.

Don't feel bad, us males can only distinguish eight colours or so. LOL!

These wins apply only to $3-$50 prizes and 96% of these are $9($3x3) or $15($5x3). I rate $3 Frosty Tripler 47/100, making it 18th out of all 36 games and 6th out of the 11 $3 tickets. 1. It was most likely a dream...

... which reminds me of the time I woke up in a field not knowing how I got there... I did see a road in the distance and figured I tried to get to it and flag down the passing car which was approaching. As I started running towards the road it seemed further than I imagined. By the time I got to the road the car had passed but still didn't seem to be going too fast and I thought maybe it had engine problems. I tried waving and flailing my arms hoping the driver would see me but he didn't. Still, he was going at a rate where I couldn't catch up. I ran for what seemed like an eternity... until I woke up.

Later that day my brother told me he had been driving around and then noticed what seemed like a mad man chasing him! He was scared and tried to get the car to go faster but couldn't as something was wrong with the engine. The mad man chased him for what seemed like an eternity... until he woke up.

I told him his dream was stupid.
