Scrabble Loses Its Last Grand Prize - Fruit Explosion #1803 New Top Choice

I was on my way home from playing tennis this past week when I stopped off at a store I never frequent to pick up some milk. And what to my wondering eyes did appear but six shiny Scrabble tickets. I scooped them up, charged home, only to find that they contained one lonely winner of $5. To make matters worse, the final Grand Prize was claimed the next day at a store a mere two kilometers from where I live. I guess I need to find new tennis courts to play on.

The loss of Scrabble brings Fruit Explosion to the top of the rankings. This is a game with one Grand Prize left to claim plus some outstanding secondary prizes. Only 12% of the float remains to be claimed (+/- 2%) , which means that they are likely hard to find. Your chance to find that last ticket is 310,000:1. It pays to ask the retailer before you buy if that prize remains outstanding. Your chances to win any prize in this game is 1 in every 3.62 tickets and to win a prize greater than the $3 cost of the ticket are 1 in every 6.81 tickets. These are average. The one good thing about the game is that it is relatively rich in prizes of $100 or more but less than the Grand Prize. The game offers 4.4% of total revenue in this area and that is best for any $3 game and fourth overall trailing only Cadillac Riches, Win Take All, and Jacks Are Wild.

    FRUIT EXPLOSION

Top Rated Games

  1. $3 Fruit Explosion #1803 - Only 12% of float left. Tickets may be scarce.
  2. $3 Cashingo #1801 - Good second choice; only 14% of float left.
  3. $4 Bonus CFL #1168 - People having worse luck with this game than expected - including me!
  4. $10 Fortune #1779 - Unusually low number of prizes worth the cost of the ticket.
  5. $3 Crossword #3205 - Quirky result. I would recommend avoiding this game.

Games to Avoid

  1. $3 Scrabble #1799 - Penthouse to outhouse. Only two prizes of more than $300 left.
  2. $2 Crazy 8's #1765 - Not terrible but all six Grand Prizes are gone. Avoid.
  3. $5 Win Take All #1800 - This game should be retired but 20% of float remains. Watching.
  4. $5 Jacks Are Wild #1787 - Only one of seven Grand Prizes remain and 40% of float.
  5. $1 Lucky Lines #1770 - Stinky game but what can one expect for a $1 game?

$1 - $2 Game Update

Cash Cow and Royal 7's are each reasonable choices.

$3 Game Update

Three of the top five games are in this group. Not long ago there were none. The only poor choice is Scrabble.

$4 - $5 Game Update

Either Cash For Life is a reasonable choice but posters have reported awful results for these games. I have experienced poor results as well. Next best is Black Pearls.

$10 - $20 Game Update

You can play any of the games.

Comings and Goings

Prestige was retired this past week. This was an Inter-provincial game that had been on sale for fourteen months. That is a long time for a scratch game. They still had 23% of the float left to sell and 3 of the 12 Grand Prizes of $1 million left to be revealed. Can't find fault with the decision but it shows again how $10 games are a little rich for most players.

Cash In #1807 was launched this week. It is a fairly typical $5 game. Your chance to win a prize is 1 in every 4.13 tickets (7th of 8 in group) and 1 in every 7.42 to win more than $5 (5th of 8 in group). The game does offer a good array of prizes from $100 up, as you would expect with the numbers cited in the previous sentence. One problem is that one of the seven Grand Prizes has already been claimed. We'll have to wait to see if this game works its way onto my radar.

Prize Breakdown: 10.7% To Winners of Cost of Ticket; 47.9% to winners of more than cost of ticket and less than $100; 2.8% to winners of $100 and less than Grand Prize; 5.4% to Grand Prize winners.

Personal Play

Eight Bonus Cash For Life's contained one winner of $4 and six Scrabble's contained one winner of $5. My poor results have reduced my YTD return to 63% per dollar "invested". Time to get something going.

In Conclusion

To the poster who inquired about how the remaining float size is calculated, the formula is:

Initial Float (from game sheet on OLG site) X (Total Top Prizes Remaining Listed on Web Site/Total Top Prizes at outset of game as listed on the OLG Web Site).

You must remember that because we are estimating based upon a sample, the sample size contains a margin of error. A game with 10,000 listed top prizes will have a margin of error of +/- 1%, 19 times in 20. A game with 125 listed prizes would have a margin of error of +/- 8%, 19 times in 20.

I have put into use a new evaluation formula beginning this week. The formula is the product of three factors:

1. A weighted sum of prizes: 1 x % of revenue paid to tickets that win the cost of ticket, plus
2 x % of revenue paid to tickets of more than cost and <$100, plus
3 x % of revenue paid to tickets of >$100 and <Grand Prize, plus
4 x % of revenue paid to Grand Prize winners.

This formula yields more weight to games that award more money to bigger prizes. The game with the top number according to this factor is Wild 10's with 153.3. The lowest is Lucky Lines at 109.8.

2. The ratio of percentage of Grand Prizes left divided by Total Top prizes listed. The greater the imbalance, the better for the formula. At present, the top rated game is Fruit Explosion at 2.76. One of three Grand Prizes remain and 218 of 1804 Top Prizes remain.

3. The inversion of the odds to win a prize greater than the cost of the ticket. The more likely, the better. The best game in play according to this factor is Extraordinary with 1 ticket in every 4.30 worth more than the cost of the ticket. The worst is Win Take All with one winner in every 8.63 tickets.

I multiply each factor together to get the rating. Fruit Explosion, the top rated game is rated at:

127.1 * 2.76 * (1/6.81) = 51.4

That's enough math - I'm even boring myself writing about it.

Enjoy the good weather - scratch your tickets outside.

  1. Thnx Doug. .now I have too wrap my head around your new numbers..lol..yeah cash in took a hit already in Chatham. .good for them.
my results for last couple days:
    3 royal 7's-win $7
    3 keno-win $300
    2 cashingo-duds
    6 fruit x -win $12
    15 Bcfl-win $32..4 winner ticks
    1 crossword tripler-dud.
total spent $104 total won $54..overall return of 54%..
I always feel ok when im above a 60% return as thats more or less what the expected return is for most games on small prizes. ...so yeah 54% is disappointing...
But I'll be playing a $100 worth of scratchys over the weekend with my wife and it will only cost me $46 out of pocket cost. .lol..
    GL everyone

  3. Really good week for me, Yesterday bought 2 Fruit Explosion and 2 cashingo and won $3 on one of the Fruit Explosion and got $25 out of one of the cashingo! Went to cash those in and the store I go to found more Fruit Explosion so I bought 9 more and won $6 on one and $20 on another so I'm only down $1 this week and have had 13 chances at $75,000 I would say that's a pretty good week even thought I lost $40 last week.

    1. And it continues... Cashed my 9 Fruit Explosion and got:
      3 Fruit Explosion - won $0
      2 Keno - won $0
      1 bingo - won $5
      2 horseshoes - won $3
      1 Crossword - won $0

      So cashed that in for:
      2 Bingo - $6
      1 Horseshoes - $9

So I'm up and down... Looks like the Fruit explosion and Cashingo tickets have dried up around here so just taking a break from bulk buying the best tickets and just buying tickets I find fun now :)

  4. Hi Doug and Everyone on this Blog
I've been buying 9.00 worth of Fruit Explosions and I've either broke even or been down 3.00 and 1 day I even made 6.00...lol
Today I bought 14 of them from 2 different places and damn there was NOT one single win in all of them...Ughhhhhh

  6. That's frustrating Doug. Same thing happened a few years ago when the store I frequent on the west end sold a 50k max ticket on the same day I was in buying different tickets.
My week was good. 3 scribbles had 1 winner for $3 and 3 cashingo had 2 winners totaling $18 which puts me in the black this week. Not by much but I'll take it.

  7. The NHL game coming is quite disappointing. Wheel of Fortune is far better. $10k in WOF is 1:300,000 vs 1:1,425,000 in NHL. Comparing to Poker Lotto it fails everywhere especially if you consider All-In for the top prize.

    $5k
    NHL - 1:610,000
    POK - 1:650,000* Prize is $10-100k for all-in

    $200
    NHL - 1:43,000
    POK - 1:4,100

    $20
    NHL - 1:611
    POK - 1:255

    $5
    NHL - 1:85
    POK - 1:47

    $2
    NHL - 1:4
    POK - 1:21

    $100k
    NHL - 1:4,300,000
    POK - 1:2,600,000

    $1000
    NHL - 1:147,000

    $500
    POK - 1:11,000

    $5 POK - 1:16

    $3 NHL - 1:30

    1. If enough people DON'T play this game, because these odds are not on par with the other games - i bet the OLG will reconsider the odds they have set for this game and 'reboot" it - with all the $ invested by them on this, this game could be a big failure and not even last this coming NHL season, so they BETTER do something to ensure their investment in this new game - then again, terrible odds games like Cash For Life + Crossword continually sell: upon it's release, Bonus CFL had only 16 prizes worth more than $1500 in a huge 9.9 million printed tickets, Crossword had only 44 prizes worth more than $100 in a massive 21.3 million tickets printed 0_o

    2. You really like picking on Bcfl. .lol..but like jay says about new nhl game.DISAPPOINTMENT...I likely play it once just to satisfy my curiosity. .

    3. I am thinking that if no one plays the game, they will simply shutter it and move on with something else. Might be better to not play and write in telling them we like the game but think the odds stink.

  8. Bonus cfl kind too me today..rolled my last winnings over into lots of tickets for tomorrow at no out of pocket cost..free rolling ..lol..
    today:
    3 royal 7's-win $2m
    10 Bcfl-win $56 ..4 win tick.incl.2×$20
    3 crossword tripler-duds
    1 cadillac- win $15
Rolled my previous $54 and $17 out of pocket for $71 spent and $73 in winnings. .I'm pleased ..I just rolled it all into $73 in more tickets at $0 out of pocket. .
I'm just reading up on the nhl lotto..not sure what to think yet hopefully some people can post their experiences with it..I don't like 4, 275,180 to 1 and only win $15k..
    first impression not too promising..
they just cashing in on our love for the game and trying to attract younger or different demographics..

  9. I was searching for Fruit Explosion today, and as expected, tickets are scarce. I was told that all remaining tickets are currently available to the public (assuming the retailers activate all their packs). There were apparently no delayed/cancelled print runs. So, the grand prize and the secondary prizes should be out there for the taking! Also, a new $3 Lucky Lines is set to start up on Monday, to take over as FE tickets continue to dwindle.
Whether or not all this information is true? Who knows.
Hopefully someone here will be able to nab that last $75k prize!

..So since Doug's latest post I have a textbook case of how rolling tickets over should work..I have played $248 worth of tickets at an out of pocket cost of $78 and because my first purchase was made by rolling some previous winning tickets over, my out of pocket cost was actually lower than $78..So it still does slowly dwindle away and you eventually lose but you can play a lot of tickets in this manner..lol..to bad it doesn't work like this every time. .

    2. The float is now estimated at 11.76% or 302,400 remaining tickets, that is, IF all the tickets were actually printed - the OLG has 10,500 retailers, if all the tickets do remain out there, thats an average of 288 tickets for EVERY retailer - i can't find this game anywhere in my area, and many have commented here that it's hard to find also - seems to me, this might be another instance of a cancelled final print run, so that there might be a LOT less tickets out there than this estimated 300,000. 0_o

  25. New $3 "More Lucky Lines" Ticket - My Review:

    Rating: 59/100 - 9th best out of 25 games - 4th place for a $3 ticket
    Top prize of $75,000 X 3
    Middle prizes of 4 X $5,000 / 46 X $1,020 / 14 X $1,000
    To win $50,000+: 1 in 1,071,147 - 14th out of 25 games
    To win $5,000+: 1 in 459,200 - 19th out of 23 games
    To win $1,000+: 1 in 47,976 - 10th out of 25 games
    To win $250+: 1 in 13,283 - 10th out of 25 games
    To win $50+: 1 in 466 - 9th out of 25 games
To win more than $15 to less than $50: 1 in 120
To win more than $3 to $15: 1 in 6.26
To win $3 ticket price back: 1 in 7.40 - 5th out of 25 games
To win any prize: 1 in 3.27 - 4th out of 25 games
    3,214,400 total tickets

Return of the game, that last time, left us with NO chance at winning it's top 7 prizes. I was hoping they would make up for this, by adding these in some way to the new game, well, of course they DIDN'T - lol. So it's just the same thing as last time with this game, as far as what it's offering now. Only 7 prizes over $1,020 make this game weak for significant prizes. $3 Scrabble, upon it's release, had 16 prizes of $5000+, with almost exactly the same amount of tickets printed. This ticket is average on $50-$1000 prizes. It is quite good on the low range of $3-$15 wins tho, and if you don't mind this, then this game is fine. That there are 3 other $3 tickets i rate better, is why i wouldn't pursue this game much for now.

That is, I determined an amount I was comfortable losing, and once I've lost X amount of dollars... game over. I scooped tickets up as I found them, from different retailers.

    Fruit Explosion stats to date:
    - Bought 182 tickets ($546)
    - 52 of those tickets were winners ($369 won)
    - Largest prize won on an individual ticket: $35

Could have been much worse, but of course, I was hoping for better! Still have a little bit more room left to play, so if I come across anymore tickets I'll update my results.

    1. I tried one - quick pick also, as i cant be bothered to choose anything on a selection slip for this game - i had no instant win - i`m not expecting anything on the draw tonight, considering the odds - there was a $5,000 instant win in Ajax today - so far, the only win on the "big shot tracker" listed at the OLG site - it will be interesting tomorrow, to see how the game does with the first nights draw, as in, the number of winners of various prizes - i`m expecting numbers comparable to Wheel Of Fortune - i don't expect this game to be anywhere near as popular as Poker Lotto - if Mega-Dice does better than NHL lotto on its 1st day, someone's job at the OLG is gonna be on the line.

  35. $3 More Lucky Lines - 2 of 3 top prizes gone!

I did a double take this morning , when i looked at the unclaimed prize listing at the OLG site. Just 3 days into it's release, this game has had 2 of it's 3 top prize of $75,000 claimed! So karma strikes back! lol - Lucky Lines previously screwed many of us over, for what appeared to be no chance at it's top 7 prizes on the older version. With an estimated 96.5% float, or 3.1 million tickets remaining, this game now loses appeal. If many of us now avoid this game, the OLG might just end up being stuck with MILLIONS of unsold tickets. It would be fitting, if they get screwed over on this, in return for what was previously done to us! ^_^

  37. Well Doug. .I may have had an experience just like yours..I don't live in st Mary's but with my work I frequent it so much I likely get 80% of my tickets there..I was buying poker lotto and some scratch tickets just now and the lady was telling me that there was a local lucky lines winner of $75k and although they never sold the winning ticket they validated yesterday ..and she told me the ticket was sold locally...big ouch for me this time...theres only 6 retailers in town and I picked 3 of them up at west end variety..lol..maybe that ticket was there in the tray and I picked wrong one..ouch...
I guess we wait too look at the $1k and over winner board too see if this story pans out...

    1. Richmond hill and st Catherine's are where the two lucky lines $75k winners live..I guess I was misinformed by the retailer, I suppose it is possible one of the tickets was sold in st Mary's...they were certainly excited in the store they obviously validated some sort of large prize. .

  39. I bought an NHL ticket this morning to see what it's all about. The game was over before I even had a chance to look at it. So I bought another one to watch the game. Second one payed $2 so I grabbed a third one. At least I've got 3 tickets for tonight's draw. I think you've got a better chance at the instant win than the draw. The instant prize structure certainly looks better if you disregard the $100,000.00 prize in the draw. I'm not too sure if I'll ever play this one again.

  40. There's a store near my house with 10+ of the old More Lucky Lines(1776) of our failed chase, are they worth buying at this point?

I've seen dozens of Fruit Explosion cards in my area, I've bought around 20 of them with a poor return, not a fan of the game, probably going to wait until the float gets low, if the grand prizes remain similar. There are probably at least 100 visible Fruit Explosion cards within my surrounding area, not even including the cards they haven't activated yet, so it's pointless at this point IMO

  41. heads up to all you CFL fans, Called the OLG today and guess what:
If you win the grand prize, and decide to take the weekly payments for life, it's considered an annuity and subject to taxation.

I've been playing all in poker since it was at 90K like a madman and the most I won was 5$. Who knows what the OLG is up to these days. Seems as though they're lucky line-ing us all.

Bet you all those poor folks who won the 5K royal flushes dump it all back into the game trying to snag those big pots that get up by playing all in'

good luck to all, I haven't had any for the past seven years of playing

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Glad you called olg..just so they know about are concerns and keep them on their toes..yeah I knew the annuity is taxable.and the $675k lump sum is not taxable until you start generating income off it..
I'm not sure how long the annuity is paid out for, I heard 20 years but I can't confirm that..I guess if you're middle aged or higher it's a no brainer to take the lump sum..maybe if you're young in your 20's maybe some benefits too the annuity ..financial advice should be seeked I guess for those kind of prizes..

      Delete
    2. I had no idea about being taxed on the CFL payout. I found this on the Globe & Mail Site.

If you win a sizable amount, it’s common to receive the prize over time – perhaps paid as a certain amount each month for life. Be aware that prizes paid out in this way – that is, as an annuity – will be partly taxable. I think of the decision in the case of The Queen v. Rumack (92 DTC 6142), where Ms. Rumack won $1,000 a month for life. The court admitted that the $135,338 used to purchase the annuity, which would pay Ms. Rumack $1,000 monthly, was a tax-free amount. But the annuity payments are partly a return of this tax-free capital, and partly interest on the capital. The court made it clear the interest portion is taxable.

and ya its crazy when u think about it how much money those machines rack up. whenever i go, i try to have a strict budget always around 50-100, i see what i can do with it, if i come out positive by a decent amount ill take it, like i did yesterday, but if i were to get struck out on my money i would just walk.
only been to slots twice tho, but thats my plan for them. and i actually had much more success on the low denom 2 cent slot, those other higher denom machines killed me.
also good luck to you darth

  49. Older $5 CROSSWORD TRIPLER last grand prize claimed

There is now quite a few unworthy tickets out there with no grand prizes, few top prizes, or games that are listed by the OLG, but seem impossible to find:

    - $2 CRAZY 8'S has an estimated 20% float/610,000 remaining tickets, 0 grand prizes, with only 6 prizes worth more than $376 available, the 20% float means this game will probaly hang around another 1-2 months
    - $3 CROSSWORD (older 3205) has an estimated 5% float/1,000,000 remaining tickets, with only 1 prize worth more than $100 available, it's a nice $50,000 tho, the next best you can do is 1-in-2000 to win that $100
    - $3 FRUIT EXPLOSION has an estimated 10% float/ 260,000 remaining tickets, yet this ticket seems hard to find and that might be due to a cancelled final ticket print run, this was Doug's last top choice and my last rating on it was a 69/100 making it #3 overall, it is a worthy ticket to play, IF you can find it
    - $3 MORE LUCKY LINES lost 2 of it's 3 grand prizes in it's first week of release, now there's only 4 prizes worth more than $1,000 available in an estimated 95% float/ 3,000,000 remaining tickets
    - $3 SCRABBLE has an estimated 8% float/250,000 remaining tickets, 0 grand prizes, with only 1 prize worth more than $300 available, that it seems impossible to find, makes it appear a final ticket print run was cancelled
    - $4 CASH FOR LIFE has an estimated 25% float/2,000,000 remaining tickets, 1 grand prize, which is the only prize worth more than $1,500 available, a 25% float means this game will probaly hang around another 2 months
    - $5 BLACK PEARLS has an estimated 36% float/950,000 remaining tickets, but only 4 prizes worth more than $105 are available, at least that 3 of those 4 prizes are grand prizes of $100,000, make it a major plus, a 36% float means this game will probaly hang around another 2-3 months
    - $5 CROSSWORD TRIPLER (older 1766) has an estimated 8% float/ 700,000 remaining tickets, with no grand prizes and the most you can now win on it is $300, odds of 1 in 2,350 to win more than $100, with the newer version of this ticket out awhile now, i expect the older version to be the very next ticket to be retired and i doubt the full intended print run was done on this game
    - $5 WINNER TAKE ALL has an estimated 17% float/ 550,000 remaining tickets, with no grand prizes and only 20 prizes worth more than $250 available, this ticket will probaly stick around another 1-2 months

Of the 25 games available, 9 of them i have mentioned here. Having just over 1 in every 3 games with the above issues is unacceptible. To better your chances with whatever tickets you play, please take into account the facts i have stated and balance that with your own actual experiences . Good luck everyone! ^_^

  50. I went looking for Fruit Explosion yesterday while going about my day's errands. I found very few. I was told by one retailer that they get reports from OLG every Friday, and that "weeks ago" they were told to send back any remaining FE packs. I did not believe this information to be accurate.

Went to another retailer, and they claimed they didn't have any FE. In fact, the retailer was so adamant to prove to me that they didn't have any that he printed off and gave me his Pack Inventory/Launch Date Report.
This report shows (for that specific retailer): Coming Soon, On Sale Now, Product Still Available For Activation, Products With An Activation End Date.

Sure enough, Fruit Explosion was listed under "Product Still Available For Activation" with 1 pack listed. I went back into the store and brought this pack information to the attention of the person at the register. I was told: "I don't know. If we had it, it would be here." - I'm pretty sure people lie but inventory reports do not.

This experience prompted me to call OLG today.

Q: "Were there any canceled print runs for Fruit Explosion?"
A: "Not that I know of"

Q: "Various retailers have told me this game is expired and is no longer to be sold, is this true?"
A: "Let me just confirm the game # ...1803. If you have a ticket in front of you, please check the back. It does not expire until December 31, 2016."

Q: "Sorry, prize collection is not what I meant. Various retailers have told me there was a recall on remaining tickets for this game, from OLG, is that true?"
A: "No. I see that there is still one grand prize of $75,000 and 2 secondary prizes of $25,000. Usually, a game keeps playing out until all of the grand prizes are won. Let me just see if there is any more information on this particular game."
    ...puts me on hold...
"Sorry, I was mistaken. It appears that October 10, yesterday, was the last day for packs to be activated."

Q: "Really? That's bizarre to me given that the prizes are still available. Why is this the case?"
A: "They didn't give me any specific reasons for this game. But I do know the general reasons why a game might get pulled: If all the prizes of 100k or more are claimed... this doesn't apply here as Fruit Explosion only has a 75k grand prize; If a new version of the game is set to come out; If customer interest or sales have decreased; Or if it is a theme game like our Christmas packs.

If I had to choose, I would say that the game is being pulled because there is a lack of customer interest. If sales decrease too much, it makes no sense to keep the game on the shelf."

I then explained to her my situation with the retailer with-holding a pack. I admitted that my complaint might be moot if he wasn't allowed to activate the pack yesterday. I was put on hold again to confirm whether October 10th was an inclusive date for activation. The answer, yes. The retailer/all retailers could have activated any packs yesterday.

Q: "If activation was permissible yesterday, is it legal for a retailer to arbitrarily keep packs inactive? Because - and I know this is a long shot - if that grand prize is within that pack, he is with-holding it from the general public. This is wrong."
A: "Well he should... uh... I .. uh.. can't really answer that question because I am in customer support. Someone in the retail section will be able to answer this question."

I called into question the integrity of the retailers and that of the OLG. She took the information from me regarding the retailer, said she will forward it on to investigate why he didn't activate the pack.

I was requested my information and am awaiting a call back with an answer to the legalities of the situation.

    Overall, I am unimpressed.

    1. Nice job questioning the olg..coined responses just like I get..my last info was from mid last week and I wasn't aware the fruit x was cancelled but I figured it was coming soon but that raises another question, what about scrabble and crazy'8s. .with regards too the retailer not activating packs I've seen where only certain employees can activate packs and perhaps if you were asking at late at night hours the kiosk is shut down or some employees aren't allowed too go into the ticket inventory let alone activate new packs..yeah im unimpressed with OLG policy on scratch games also..

    2. It seems you need to be a lawyer to get an honest + definitive answer with any enquiry to the OLG.

Q: "Were there any cancelled print runs for Fruit Explosion?"
A: "Not that I know of"
Can be interpreted as: "I can't be bothered to find out" / "i am not allowed to say" / "cancelled print runs CAN/DO happen"

Q: "Various retailers have told me...'
Many retailers give customers "canned replies" to silence any enquiries, regardless of the truth, as many retailers either can`t be bothered to find out, or they are not fully informed to answer honestly.

A: "..usually, a game keeps playing out until all of the grand prizes are won..."
"Usually"? A non-definitive answer. We all KNOW games can get retired while STILL offering grand prizes. We don't have to go far back for an instance of this. $10 Prestige was retired with an estimated 22% float / 3 MILLION+ tickets, with 3 $1,000,000 grand prizes remaining, as an example.

A: "They didn't give me any specific reasons..."
Can be interpreted as: "I can`t be bothered to find out" / "I am not allowed to say" / "i am not given the full information to answer your question".

A: "I do know the general reasons why a game might get pulled"
"general" + "might"? Can be interpreted as: "I am not given ALL the reasons why games get pulled" / "I am not allowed to say ALL the reasons why a game gets pulled" - "might get pulled" implies there are no DEFINTIVE reasons as to why games get pulled.

A: "Well he should... uh... I .. uh.. can't really answer..."
The longer your conversation went on, the more it appears you were given "canned replies", as well as being put on hold more than once, in an effort to silence your enquiry.

"unimpressed" - well that's no surprise is it? lol - Thankyou VERY much for your efforts in caling the OLG and posting about it here. There are very few people who make such an effort, and lesser who have persisted to the extent you did. The better informed we are, and the more we share here with others what we know, the better off we can do at playing scratch games / lotteries.

    3. With regards too sapphire 7's I called them way back on that game about their policy on canceling games with no remaining $100k prizes and actually was told that the fourth tier prize group which I think was around $900 was a worthy prize that people could strive for..what a crock of **** ,although it was cancelled shortly after my talk with them it appears that at their discretion with no transparency they decide too either cancel decent odds games or leave games with no more grand prizes. .like money multiplier and 1776 lucky lines. .I don't believe that if the remaining new lucky lines remaining $75k prize gets claimed soon that they will cancel it anytime soon and get stuck with millions of tickets. .but I would love too call them on that scenario. .lol..

    4. CL66 thanks for your response! Yes, it really does seem like you need to be a lawyer in order to get anything valid out of these people. Are you aware of any third party organization where complaints can be brought against the OLG? Some form of OLG "watchdog"? Because if only the OLG exists to monitor itself.. then they can be as ethical or unethical as they wish with essentially no repercussions.

Darth, thanks for your responses. I agree, I still see so many Scrabble tickets out there! Good point about certain employees not being able to access the safes/packs. I have also come across situations like that... but the employee would just tell me that they couldn't authorize a pack and that a manager would be in in the morning to refresh the stock. In my particular case mentioned in the earlier post, it was 3 in the afternoon and I am fairly certain the store is owned by a husband/wife duo. Both of whom were working.
Your recount of the Sapphire 7's conversation is ridiculous!! I can't believe they suggested $900 was a worthy prize that justifies breaking their own "rules" on pulling games.

    5. That i`m aware of, The A.G.C.O. (Alcohol & Gaming Comission of Ontario) is the only possible means to further your pursuit against the OLG. They oversee the OLG with a mandate of ".. that lotteries are conducted in the public interest, by people who are socially and financially responsible.". I know someone who works for the OLG and they told me, as an example, how the AGCO stopped the OLG very early on when they brought up the idea of ticket vending machines. The OLG clearly then does NOT have "free reign" on how they operate, but it is evident that some ways in which they operate are questionable. I suggest you contact the AGCO if you want to proceed further with your inquiry, and to do so in a "lawyer" manner, with a thorough, clear, well prepared written or spoken submission. Good luck, if you attempt this, as, in my view, you may as well be climbing Mount Everest lol. ^_^

    6. I also called A.G.C.O. they informed me if I had potential fraud too report to call OLG because they have there own fraud investigation branch..lol..they said they mainly handle retailer licenses and screening and other things like liquor licenses and sales to minors of tobacco , liquor and underage gambling...they not much help getting some transparency about Olg scratch games. Maybe someone should call OPP fraud unit ..lol

  51. Here's the last few cancelled games by date:
PRODUCTS WITH AN ACTIVATION END DATE
    1801 cashingo 26 Sept
    1766 crossword tripler 26 Sept
1800 winner take all 16 Sept
    1741 prestige-Aug 29
    1796 sapphire 7's Aug 22
    1771 classic gold aug 20
    1767 blaze 7's aug 15
    1769 money multiplier Aug 08
since beginning of September only 2 games were cancelled and several new games released yet they still allow retailers too activate crazy'8s and scrabble tickets with no hopes of hitting a grandprizes..I encourage people too call OLG and voice their concerns and ask about some transparency on matters of printing and releasing batches of tickets. .
I think im tagged in their system as being a disgruntled caller and left on hold permanently. .lol..when I call from a different phone number I get through quickly..
I always get the same responses and ensured that all tickets are printed and delivered too retailers and they cancel games based on poor sales and also if large prizes are gone although they feel people may wish too continue playing for 2nd level prizes at times..in other words I get coined responses and the run around. .they like the term that they are none profit and all the money gets returned too the people of Ontario. .

    2. You probably are "tagged" in their system and then perpetually shuffled down to the bottom of the call list. This must be why they press the caller for so much information. I was asked for my first AND last name, as well as address simply to receive a call back. Excuse me? Why?! haha

It is great that the money gets "returned to the people of Ontario" (assuming the OLG is honest about this, as they aren't honest about much else). I really don't think many people have an issue with this. The issue we have, that the OLG doesn't seem to care about.. is the lack of transparency!!! Whether a person is spending $1 every 4 years on a scratch ticket... or $10,000 every month... everyone should be entitled to make an informed decision before spending their money.

OLG claims : chance of winning 1 in 3.28???????
somehow I have played exactly 25 tickets and won a single $20 prize.
How is that 1 in 3
I want to know who to talk to about proving their lower payouts for this game.
And how they can claim 1 in 3.28
I am not the unluckiest person in the world.
other tickets I play work just fine. They give a win every now and then.
    Not this one.
    Total Scam.

    $10 per play.
Prize payout †: 69.74 per cent.
Overall odds of winning: 1 in 3.28.

    1 in 25

the games all suck and i missed out on fruit explosion - i did win,but my usual is the $5 and $10
After this last 2 month I quit.
I'd rather know exactly who and how many win with the $5 weekly draw than the sucker punching I just took.

    1. Thanks for the update! I think scrabble/crossword 3205 should have been canned a long time ago. I'm still bitter about fruit explosion though... the game float getting so low proves that it was a big seller that held public interest!

  55. Found a store with 6 fruit explosions. Bought them all, guy charged me for them, when I got in the car I realized there was a scrabble tucked in there!!! Maybe it will bring me some luck!

    1. That is a bad run Darth. We've been probably even worse on the weekend with maybe 10% return on various scratch tickets. Even less on the lotteries. But we did manage to escape Georgian Downs slots with about $25 or $30 to the good which helped. It can only get better I hope.

  58. I wanted to buy a Wild 10 since I haven't in over a month but the store didn't have any. They had 2 CFL left so I broke down and bought them and both were winners $12+$12. Makes a nice comeback from my last few.
