Cash In is the new top rated game and it is looking very good, at present. Four of the seven Grand Prizes of $100,000 remain to be claimed and an estimated 23% of the ticket float remains to be sold. That represents the largest imbalance for a game currently for sale. The odds of winning one of those four jackpots is only 150,000:1. Otherwise, the game has a decent rate of winning tickets and a reasonable range of prizes $100 or larger. The only thing about the game I don't like is the relatively high number of prizes for the cost of the ticket.
Our old favourites, Prestige and $200 Million, are languishing. I'd like to be at the meetings where the lottery gurus discuss what to do with these games. Each of them has likely sold only half of their floats and sales remain low. $200 Million will have been on sale for a year in a couple of weeks.
Note: I reported last week that Cherry Triple had been retired. Well, it looks like the webmaster at OLG made a boo boo that was subsequently repaired. Its back on the list - and it sucks!
I close with an interesting fact: the OLG currently oversees 10,205 slot machines in the province. Each one of those devils earns, on average, $440 per day for the OLG. That is 365 days per year. And the OLG refuses to divulge the pay off rates on their machines.
I'm off for vacation to Dubai. I can assure you that there is no gambling allowed there but I will try to update the blog from that location unless the OLG site is blocked by their censors!
Happy St. Patrick's day to all, especially the Emerald 7s players.

$1 - $2 Game Update
These are halcyon days for these games. Two of them in the top five rated games is rare. Even the new Red Hot 50's looks good.$3 Game Update
The slow repairs on these games continues. There are no games devoid of a Grand Prize. Super Bingo #3013 is almost looking good.$4 - $5 Game Update
Cash In and Emerald 7's stand above the other games. There is really nothing bad in this area.$10 - $20 Game Update
Classic Gold lost another Grand Prize this week. Although the other three games are all good, they should be given the cost of the ticket. We need people to buy some more losers in these games before we jump back in.Comings and Goings
The new $1 Red Hot 50's is another one of those games that tricks my evaluation algorythm. Its Grand Prize is only $50 but there are over 10,000 of them! The cash rate for the game is poor but if it's $50 you're after - this is your game. A new 20X Lucky also came on stream. It has a good distribution of prizes and begins life with a good rating. This one has potential. Lastly, a new Cross Tripler game has appeared. There is no detail sheet posted on the OLG site so I am unable to comment on it.Personal Play
I spread my play around this week, including a Lotto Max, and had another poor week. I am currently sitting at a cash rate of 28% and a return on investment of 56%.Closing Comments
Jay reports that his concentration on Emerald 7's is still going well. He has begun to mix in some Cash In tickets as well. Vic has posted some interesting comments on Lotto Poker. When you say "cash rate" what exactly does that mean?
ReplyDeleteKevin,
DeleteJay is correct. It is the percentage of tickets I buy that were winners. The ROI (return on investment) is the total amount that was returned in winnings divided by the total cost of the tickets.

I would say Cash rate is the % of winning tickets. If he bought 100 $1 tickets he won on 28 of them for a return of $58. Which is right about the expected range for scratch tickets on average.
ReplyDeleteI had a down then up and then down run last week. I went from -$20 on Monday to +95 on Friday and then ended on Sunday +45 for the week. This was mainly on Cash In and Emeralds and one $20 CFL winner.
The odds for the top 1-3 prizes are still slim for any ticket. The fact that there is 23% of the float left means there may even be a smaller chance of winning the top prize. Simply on the fact that the top prizes were found, not checked correctly and thrown away, or simply misplaced/not yet claimed. Which brings the statistical odds up to 300,000:1 if not higher
ReplyDeleteBo,
ReplyDeleteYes, the odds are thin. That should be understood by all. My evaluation method, in part, calculates how much money is available in grand prizes at the outset of a game and compares that to the present situation in the game. I'm looking for games where there is a delay in cashing grand prizes. What you say about some one sitting on a grand prize or losing it but there is nothing that can be done about that. Buying lottery tickets is entertainment. When the house advantage is 30-40 percent, I doubt that playing a game would ever represent a wise investment. Thanks for posting.
Has anyone tried Blazing 7?
ReplyDeleteive tried blazing 7s, had no luck with them tho
ReplyDeleteIts all about them cashins 20X lucky, prestige and once in a while 20 million supreme those have given the best luck to me
ReplyDeleteHi Usockem
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you could give me advice on how to keep a profit on tickets.
How would your profit system work and what are main facts to know about the lottery?
Currently my profit system is, stay within 30$/day, play only tickets with good ratings and record results(profits/losses)
How would your system work? If you have one
,
Thanks
Bo,
ReplyDeleteWhen the house holds a 30-40 pct advantage, one is going to have a very difficult time staying even. Remember that you are also having fun while hoping to get lucky. I use my evaluation system to identify the best games and, more importantly, the games to avoid. As you have suggested, I record my activity and am disciplined about staying within my budget. Maybe the best feature that the OLG has going for it is that the profit it makes goes into provincial revenues so we all ultimately get some payback from the exercise. Although the chances of winning a big prize are very small, a reader of this blog won $75,000 last year on a ticket. Another reader won $1,400 so it is possible.
Lastly, my approach has been influenced by comments posted by others so I am always interested to hear from folks who visit this site. The old adage, "know your limit, play within it" is spot on. If you stick to it you can have som fun while giving yourself a chance to get lucky.
Good luck and thanks for posting.
Doug
Slot machines are the devil.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother figured out something about them.
That is, if you are a new player - with a new players card - you are more likely to win.
Why? Well, let's just say that most people who start drop in $50
When that $50 is gone right away ... Most new players will stop.
However, let's say you win $300 ...
You are far more likely to move to a higher game, lose it all and then get trapped in the cycle of putting in another $50.
Why?
Well, let's be honest here, $300 is not a lot. People want more.
Those player cards indicate how much you play and what machines you play at.
So, if I go with a group to a casino ... I take a set amount that I am prepared to lose, make sure that my group is one of those that get a free buffet (always nice) and if I find out someone is new ... I keep an eye on them and if they ever get a $300 to $500 win, I try and get them to stop and walk away.
In 2009, slots had a payout rate of 85%, but given that they have a contest giving out 24 cars they seem to be doing alright.
Usockem,
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind me asking, whats the biggest prize you've ever won? Whats the best profit you've made and worst loss? Thanks :)
Bo,
ReplyDeleteSince beginning this blog, the largest prize I have won is $50.I measure my performance on a week to week basis running a tally as I go. Last year I had an overall return of about 70% while cashing about 35% of the tickets purchased. The actual numbers were reported in my first blog entry for 2014. In terms of money, I spent, on average, $35 per week and cashed, on average, $25 per week. Not very impressive.
One of the reasons that I write this blog is that if forces me to operate in a disciplined way. I also hope that accurate reporting on my behalf is of use to others. My plan for 2014 is to reduce the average level of play to $25 per week. Losing $10 a week is not terrible but I'd like to bring it down to the $7 level.
This is not my only form of gambling as I like to play the horses and, on occasion, visit a casino. I keep similar records for all such activities and live within my annual budget. Life has taught me that I am not a "lucky" person when it comes to this sort of activity so I try to be as conservative as possible.
Feel free to share about your play.
Doug
