New Year Begins With Cash For Life #1167 Firmly On Top

The Christmas frenzy failed to unveil the last outstanding Grand Prize in Cash For Life #1167, leaving it as the clear choice of games to play. Only 200,000 of the tickets were sold since the last update as opposed to 800,000 of the new version of the game. There is now only an estimated 9% of the float left or 760,000 tickets. They will definitely be hard to find but do not settle for the new version. If you're one of the folks with a $2 off coupon for Cash For Life, spend some time scrounging around for version 1167.

 CASH FOR LIFE

Top Rated Games

  1. $4 Cash For Life #1167 - 9% of float remaining (760,000 tickets), +/- 3%
  2. $3 Crossword #3210 - 7%, 1.5 million tickets - +/- 1%
  3. $3 Crossword #3212 - 72% - 10.6 million tickets - +/- 2%
  4. $3 Frosty #1864 - 26% - 605,000 tickets - +/- 3%
  5. $3 Cashingo #1847 - 20% - 600,000 tickets - +/- 6%

Games to Avoid

  1. $30 250 Million #1782 - My rating system discriminates against this game. It is not the worst game.
  2. $1 Red Hot 50's #1827 - Even Lucky Lines is a better $1 game.
  3. $2 Polar Bear #1862 - Did climate change melt all the grand prizes? None left.
  4. $5 Wild Card #1854 - Was a good game until all the Grand Prizes were claimed.
  5. $3 More Lucky Lines #1829 - Hate the franchise.

Games To Play If All You Want Is A Grand Prize

  1. $4 Cash For Life #1167
  2. $10 Spectacular #1865
  3. $4 Cash For Life #1171
  4. $10 Diamond #1781
  5. $20 Extreme #1780

Games Devoid Of Grand Prizes

  • Polar Bear
  • Wild Card
  • More Lucky Lines

Comings and Goings

Cross Tripler #1830, 500 Frenzy, and Keno #1416 were all retired this past week. Keno was the best of the lot with one Grand Prize left outstanding and 18% of its float. Its retirement was a tad early but the new version of the game likely accelerated its retirement. Cross Tripler was down to 10% of its float and one outstanding Grand Prize.

New to the allotment is Jackpot. Benefiting from being released during the Christmas period, it has already sold 10% of its float. I rate it presently as the 6th best game which is unusual for a new game.

Personal Play

One losing 250 Million ticket. I have a poll question for readers: which is worse, losing on ten consecutive $3 tickets on losing on one $30 ticket?

Post Script

Thanks for all of the kind comments left recently on the blog. I am most appreciative of those who take the time to comment and/or number crunch. I've learned from your views and approaches to playing not only scratch games but other OLG games as well. I was very interested in the comments left by a couple of retailers a few weeks back. Very illuminating.

I even find the edgy conspiracy theories to be entertaining. Shelley (nice to hear from her) has suggested that I consider censoring the comments. I have only deleted three comments in all the time that I have been posting updates. I don't want to be a censor but I ask that all posters remain respectful in their comments. I will admit that a couple of recent posts were getting near the border of good taste. Another poster suggested that the blog be converted to require sign-ins in order to avoid the "Anonymous" posts that may get too edgy. I will look at that but I'm not very savvy when it comes to such matters.

A poster recently commented on the number of "old" people winning prizes. The OLG's Modernization Plan is designed to target that younger audience and women as a source of increased revenue. It stands to reason that older people would have more disposable income and women just have better things to do but please be comforted that the OLG is looking to make playing more appealing to those two demographic groups. Good luck to them.

Another poster suggested that the OLG produce an "App" that could be used to check tickets. No doubt the technology is there to do so. I think it's a brilliant suggestion and should be brought to the attention of the OLG. I will undertake to do just that on behalf of this community.

The Gift Pack must have been a popular item in Christmas Stockings this year. The game lost an astounding 34% of its float over the Christmas period. That was double the sales of the second highest expensive game, Diamond, and that game is sold nationally.

Finally, a shout out to the OLG workers who are currently locked out in Ottawa. Apparently, it's dangerous to delay people intent on losing their money on the slots:
http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/odds-poor-for-early-resolution-to-olg-slots-lockout

These folks have not had an increase in five years. The employer wants to give them a three year contract with 0% in each of the first two years and less than 1% in the third. They also want to open the language of their pension plans. The workers earn between $13 - $17 per hour.

I understand that the cheaper the wage bill is, the more the asset is worth to any future private contractor. Still, the tactics being employed by the OLG strike me as being pecuniary. It is also rich for the OLG's Director of Media Relations, Tony Bitonti, to be commenting on the situation. He is well paid in his position and can look forward to a first class pension. I'm not saying that he does not deserve one, but why are these workers any different?

Happy New Year everyone.

  1. Darth,

Take a look at this all college basketball bet from Saturday that rode on one point on one game for $1,400:

    1. I never knew you dabbled in sports betting...especially college hoops. .lol..
Hoping you're not complaining. .lol.. that push on both tickets still gave you a $800 Saturday. .way to go..
I'm amazed at how whom ever makes the spread can be so accurate ..but look at it this way 1 more point gives you $1400 and 1 less point and your tickets go in the trash...I'd be happy with the push on that game..
      keep up the good work!

    2. The ticket is actually my brothers - i was at his place briefly on sunday and after he showed it to me he said i could throw it out - i had seen your post earlier about betting college basketball so i thought to keep it and share it with you - i don't do any sports betting at all but way back when pro-line printed sheets for an entire week i did play it.

  2. I was hoping this could be answered in plain English to me: I play the lottery (6/49, Max, Lottario, etc). I, like many others, think the prize structure should be worked on my the OLGC to provide a bit more money to secondary prizes as it is completely top heavy. However, I'm just confused as to how they determine the payouts for subsidiary prizes. For example, in Lotto Max, do they determine how much will be alloted to the second prize (6 numbers + bonus) and the third prize (6 numbers) ahead of time? I'm the most recent draw on Jan 1/16, there were 2 prizes for second place to talking about $373,000 ($186,000 each). The third prize paid out $5500 to 72 winners for a total of $396,000. So, should they not allot more for higher prizes or do they determine the payouts after the determine the amount of winners?

    1. On the lotto max page: http://www.olg.ca/lotteries/games/howtoplay.do?game=lottomax#prizes

It shows that anything 4/7 matches and below is a set amount, but anything above that is a percentage amount, on the draw you mentioned they paid out over 500k to winners that got ~$100 each, and over $4.6 million in free tickets, so they are paying out quite a bit of money to the bottom prizes its just spread out among a lot more people.

  3. Happy new year, Doug! And I hope Justin Trudeau's birthday was good for you and your family.

On the lotto side of things, we now have two unclaimed big prizes somewhere in Ontario. Personally, I would have grabbed the cash December 31 and a plane ticket south.

Still on claiming behaviours, I note that 14 of 36 Ontario prizes for the November 28 649 super draw are still unclaimed. That seems much higher than normal, based on my previous number crunches. I would not be at all surprised if some of those winners are simply not aware of the importance of checking those guaranteed prize numbers, and will never claim.

Speaking of super draws, there were two more for 649 last week, and I learned something new.

When, between the first and second super draws, I self checked some advance play tickets I had bought (for two draws) the ticket checker did something unexpected.

For tickets that had won nothing on the first super draw(but were still eligible for the second one), it read "Results not available".

For tickets that had won a free ticket or a little cash on the first draw, the self checker stated these numbers/details clearly. Then at the counter, the clerk redeemed the prize, and gave me a new version of the original ticket, valid for only one draw remaining that I had previously paid for. (I figured, why not cash in on free tickets before the second super draw if I could, more prizes to go for)

So advance play non winners that are eligible for subsequent draws are treated as if 'the' draw(s) has not even happened, while winners still eligible for subsequent draws are treated normally, though even the clerks seemed very surprised when the machine spat out the duplicate of the original ticket, minus one draw eligibility. (What if a customer and clerk both did not expect this replay ticket and turned away, I wondered?)

I can see the logic in this from the OLG's standpoint, not wanting people to discard tickets eligible for future draws, and trusting their retailers/machines to make it all right. But I also think any inconsistency in how they do their thing is a risk, particularly when so much depends on the knowledge of the retailer. (Not to mention the inconsistency between how management and workers are treated at OLG!)

For example, and anyone feel free to agree or disagree, I am always stunned at how little some retailers know about the system. If you ask some to print you off a 649 and Ontario 49 quick pick pair, same number on each ticket, about half the retailers can do this, no problem. But the other half always tell me, "sorry, the machine cannot do that, you have to request the quick picks on a slip." I've given up trying to persuade them, and bite my tongue instead of insulting their lack of knowledge.

Gaps and inconsistencies like this in the 'brains' of the OLG system should be a real worry for everyone. An "App" may indeed help with some of this, though I'm not sure I would use it myself.

    1. Anything that relies on retailers knowing the system is a crap shoot imo, Ive had all kinds of them, some who dont know how to put ALL IN on a poker ticket, to some who have no idea what an nhl, or hockey ticket is, I think there is very little training in this area.

Ive cashed a free play in for the 649 and had them ask me if i wanted to play the same numbers on it.

My girlfriend used to do a pool at work and of the 6 months or so she did it there was only once or twice where it went smoothly.

I cant say why its so incosistent, other than the only training they get is whatever happens on the day theyre trained, if not many people buy a lotto max or a 649 ticket they may have a hard time doing anything but punching in a quick pick, I used to think it was a store by store thing, where drug stores and grocery stores usually knew their stuff, but Ive had a hard time just getting a single poker ticket printed at shoppers drug mart a few times, they always look at me wide eyed like im asking for them to make a unicorn come out of the machine.

-Same outcome $30 is gone. One difference is it could be gone in 15 seconds if you play the big ticket.
And when I buy a single ticket I mentally assume it's a loser. But if I buy 10 $3 tickets my gears are calculating that I should likely win $6 and have 2 or more winner tickets. .lol..

    2. I like the idea of a bunch of $3 tickets over one $30 ticket, I use a "whacks at a pinata" way of explaining it, you can take one shot and hope it cracks open or you can take 10.

Ive played 3 or 4 $30 tickets now and only won once, $30 on the second one I bought, Im probably done with them.

  6. Johnny, Did you see the last post to the previous entry. As a retailer, can you answer a question? If someone was to shoplift tickets from your business, would they be valid and, if so, would you have to make up for the loss or would the Lottery Corporation?

  7. That's one sad donkey who ended Doug's last entry from last week.
I've heard stolen tickets are flagged in the system and can't be redeemed and likely police called immediately.
Although this all takes time ,perhaps if they were snatched and played immediately and redeemed immediately no one would catch on till later. .
I was also told in order to sell olg products you have to carry some kind of special insurance for just such scenarios. .
Also interested in Johnny's response to theft of tickets or scams etc.

It's your best chance to win $100 and that's a $70 profit in which I have won that twice as well as one $50 winner.. and whoever said it's better to buy 10 $3 tickets instead of one $30 ticket is stupid.. you ain't going to win a lot of money playing that way buds.

    1. $30 is more than the average person spends on all their lotto purchases - few can afford to spend that much on a single ticket - it's like taking all your $ and betting max on a single spin on a $10 slot machine - 99.93% of ALL it's prizes are $100 or less(3.3x or less on your $) - your odds are 1 in 4,908 to win more than 3.3x your $ - lowly $3 Crossword Winter Words offer odds of 1 in 12.4 to win 5x your $ - my advice is to avoid this ticket, your better off with nearly anything else.

    2. Anonymous is also the same guy that said if he won $300 he would take it and buy all Lotto Max tickets, lol

The $30 ticket wouldnt be so bad if it was ontario only, itd be a better play to take that $30 and get 3 $10 tickets, or 6 $5 tickets, or as was said 10 $3 tickets.

If youre buying a bunch of the $30 tickets, thats different, but to say its better to get one ticket instead of 10 is just crazy to me, thats some charlie and the chocolate factory type of a play right there.

      Delete
    3. To clarify: my rating formula unfairly discriminates against the $30 game due to my use of the "under $100" prize levels in the formula. In this game that's only 3X the cost of the ticket. I need to tweak the formula for that game. Still working on how to do that. I'm not sure what I think about the game at this point although CL66 does not like it.

The ticket I played was a gift from Santa.

    4. I haven't see proof of any of this guys claimed wins - the negativity from him makes any posts by anybody "anonymous" questionable - i've always made my "photobucket" page available to anyone as to provide proof: http://s196.photobucket.com/user/one9six6/library/?sort=3&page=1 - in there, from the last 1 year are (in part): 6 $100 or more wins from 1 $3 and 5 $5 scratch tickets and 9 instant wins of $100 or more on poker lotto totalling $1500 - my poker lotto plays are always $6 (2+all in) - so there's proof you don't need to spend a lot on a ticket to win a decent amount.

    5. Also of note, someone who was actually doing well with tickets probably wouldnt have to steal a bunch of them, lol.

  9. You have heard wrong and you don't know shit and I'm with the anonymous Sounds like a pretty slick steal and he's taking from the crooks that rip plenty of people off with there awful odds.

  10. I would think if an unopened pack is stolen, that could be easily tracked as they wouldn't be activated yet. However, if a degenerate steals already activated tickets in a tray, there's likely nothing they can do to track it. If you buy multiple tickets at once you can get all different serial numbers and many small retailers especially don't scan tickets, so there would be no way to track and deactivate or flag them.

That being said, I hope this Anonymous pushes his or her luck one too many times and is caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law. Your misguided theft doesn't punish mighty OLG, but independent retailers.

  11. Johnny, good to read your reply. And thanks for suggesting I am part of the "1%", LOL - I hope that helps my odds of getting a winner!

I'd be curious to hear how much training retailer (and their staff) get on the terminal system, as well as how scratches operate. Do you think it is adequate, or what should it be like in your opinion?
What are the biggest gaps in retailer knowledge, in your opinion?

Also, since we are free to rant, what are your pet peeves as a retailer about lottery layers? There must be many!

Me, I have learned to hate the games that are actively played at the terminal. Yesterday I was in a lineup of eight people at a convenience store while one woman blocked the cashier, playing and replaying her tickets (poker or something, not sure) which took several minutes just for her to win some tiny amount before losing it all. Can retailers survive with this kind of monopoly on their customer service time, or is lottery such a big part of a variety store's income that it makes sense?

Then there's those customers who try to scratch tickets right at the counter. Or the more common ones who take up residence at the player's counter, who are there all day long at different times, scratching away and blocking the ticket checkers and ticket selection slips. Get a life, I say - do that at home! (It seems to me like a seriously compulsive addiction for those people who need to scratch tickets immediately in the store - counselling therapy would be advisable, immediately. Call CAMH)

And don't even get me started on the customers who have to hunt through three bags to find their wallets, or want to stay at the counter arranging their baggage while I conduct my private transaction, or don't know their interact passwords, or decide to take phone calls or send texts while they are at the counter........

  12. The only ones I have problems with are the ones who wont use the self checker, so they have the cashier put a bunch of dead tickets through, you dont see it so much anymore, but it happened last week and it took forever for her to win nothing, will the line got bigger and bigger.

Normally if there is a line up and i get a free play on a poker ticket, ill play one, then if that wins another one I either take it to a different store or go to the back of the line, sometimes though I like to wait till the next day to cash small prizes in, though the other day the store was empty and I kept winning free play after free play, walked out with about 6 different tickets from one play.

Ive seen more pro line players suck up a cashiers time than anything else, one guy had her run a ticket 6 times before it would go through, and the other day a guy was filling out his slip at the self checker thing so nobody could check tickets, first time ive seen a line at one of those things, I just had the cashier run my ticket I knew was a winner and took the rest to another store to check, after waiting in line and cashing mine in / buying more tickets that guy was still at the self checker filling his ticket out.

I personally havent noticed a drop since play olg, I am sure some people do buy from there..OLG only consults with themselves, all the big companies old, coke, pepsi, frito lay basically dicate your profit.. I guess if you didnt have olg you might not survive, thats the attitude and thats why they pay you so little, quebec, atlantic you get 1% of a big prize but here starts at $1000 and goes up per draw till won. As for scratch tickets being stolen, if unactivated no loss for anyone, as for activated I would assume that your insurance company would have to reimburse not olg. I have many pet peeves but Jason Jones hit the nail on the head, NON winning tickets and the instant online games poker Nhl etc, keeps the lines long....Johnny Cash

  15. And most but no all have camera's so if the retailer figured out the scratches were missing he could check the camera. Most of the retailers I go to have camera's and if there's expensive tickets missing I would assume the retailer would notice it. Where I live there is a lot of older folks and trust me even if they check there tickets with the checker they still don't believe it and may the retailer check yet again.... Gotta love them... Jason how do you play Poker? I'm like Doug and do 3 lines always probably so I won't waste the retailers time especially if there's a line up I feel bad...I did work at a drug store and other cashiers taught me how to use the machine there's a lot to learn that's for sure...Maybe Anon needs to call himself The Scratch Bandit..lol

  16. I have 38 of those $2-off Cash for Life coupons, I am going to try and find some of the old game tonight!

Also, I was told by a retailer who printed off the rules and showed me, that the $2-off coupon applies to more than just cash for life....it says "If retailer has no cash for life, customer may use to get $2-off another ticket"

This retail in particular still had CFL but she said it was ok to use it on others...so I did.

I ended up getting 4/6 on a quick pick 6/49 on December 23, won $75.50!! That is pretty good for paying only $3 :) Odds of 1/1033

May 2016 bring you all good luck, may the LUCK be with you.

  17. WOWWW! Another CFL (new version) Grand Prize has been claimed leaving 7/10 remaining.

Question: Does a retailer have to sell all of their OLD CFL tickets before they put the NEW CFL tickets on display?? Even if packs of old CFL are unopened, so that last GP does not get buried. I cannot find the OLD one anywhere and I have a feeling retailers are just displaying the new ones and will return the OLD CFL unopened packages.

OLD CFL GP: 1 in 727,988.075
NEW CFL GP: 1 in 1,958,236.14

Anyways, Don't let the odds of a game keep you from purchasing any particular game. I have a feeling 100% of the players who have won grand prizes have never read this blog considering none of us have won anything major. In simpler terms, if god wants you to win the lottery/Grand Prize, you will win, if he doesn't, then I guess you are just sh*t out of luck. You can use all of the math/statistics in the world, but it won't do you any good. I know CL66 and many other people on here hate the CFL games and the more expensive $20/$30 games...but when the players win those Grand Prizes...who is the joke on then? Well the joke is on all of us since we never win jack sh*t. This is my $0.02.

    2. Olg deactivated the old CFL game and there is still one remaining big prize. This seems suspicious to me. This has probably been asked before but does OLG know if the remaining big prize is part of packet that has not been activated and by stopping activation they know full well no one will be able to win the big prize? Currently I am looking for old CFL but concerned that I have no real chance because OLG knows the winner is not part of the remaining activated tickets.

      Delete
  18. Maybe someone can clarify the first part of your concerns..but I thought the older cfl was deactivated which means only loose previously activated tickets can be sold...all sealed unactivated packs can't be sold and sit at retailers till they get sent back to olg for destruction. .

If you go back far enough on this blog there is a major grand prize winner who posts a bit. He's not impressed with the newest pack stupids on here lately.

There is lots of us including me whom play CFL. .it's likely my favorite regular game..I play $10 tickets sometimes but when it comes to $20 or $30,Nope id rather have a handful of CFL tickets.

Why is the joke on all of us if some random person wins a jackpot? Are we suckers because we look more at the odds and figure out which games good/poor too play ..

Well generally we're a freindly bunch who offers congrats to any of our crowd whom wins something decent.

    That's my $00.02 worth.

    1. Playing the odds of these games is no different than any other odds based game really, its like how poker got really popular for a while, you wouldnt consider the pros that play poker on a professional level to be suckers because they lose occasionally, theyre usually pretty smart and come out ahead more than most other people, thats what sets them apart.

Calling everyone a sucker because someone won a grand prize is weird to me, and assuming that they dont play intelligently at all, and its just someone that went in one day never having bought a ticket before and decided to get a cash for life and won a grand prize, its assuming alot.

All I do really is look at the unclaimed prize list, which has nothing to do with this blog and may be something a lot of other people who buy scratch tickets do, I doubt the majority do, but I dont think the number is as small as 50 or 100 people.

I was in the store the other day and I saw a guy buying polar bear tickets, he cashed a 15 dollar winner and got all polar bears, even though it is void of grand prizes he could still win something, but its not a ticket I would buy right now.

I dont agree with all the float stuff that gets talked about here, as its a pretty big assumption, and in reality im more motivated to play or not by how many big prizes are left, if I see enough zeroes on a game on the unclaimed prize list Im going to stay away, because there are just so many retailers out there and when the bigger prizes are dwindling down you could be in the store looking at a whole whack of duds.

Im currently 1 for 3 on Dragon tickets, lol, 1 $3 winner so far, but I like the look of it and the symbols, so even if it is another lucky lines clone Ill probably keep playing it just for those reasons.

I wish they would make a virtual scratch ticket of some kind, where you could go to a store, buy a card, and then put a code in on your computer, one thing I like about poker tickets is that I feel there is a physical distribution bias with scratch tickets, where as with poker tickets it doesnt matter which pack got sent where or how many people bought a ticket there, it stands to reason that if you have a bunch of retailers selling a lot of tickets and just plowing through packs like crazy they would stand to see more winners, but with the poker its like 100k+ people all taking a shot and everyone has an even chance regardless of where they are or how many tickets that place has sold.

Obviously thats not the only thing to take into account, but from the stand point of an individual player, you would think that if you opene 100 packs of tickets, you would have more chance of seeing bigger prizes than someone who scratched 25 tickets or so, but again clearly smaller places who dont go through a lot of tickets still see big winners, but from a statistical stand point a person who buys just one ticket would have less of a chance at seeing a winner than someone who bought 30 of them, which is again the down side of the $30 ticket when comparing it to the lesser priced ones.

    2. $4 Cash For Life 1167 has not been deactivated - but i expect it will be soon - friday's are the day deactivations occur (the exception being when $100K+ gp's have all been claimed) - currently estimated at 91% sold, 90% is the typical level when games get deactivated - estimated sales have slowed as the game has been on the market for almost 7 months and it's being overshadowed by the new CFL - retailers with limited space will prefer to stock newer releases - the biggest factor a retailer goes by is "what sells" and this game isn't selling well - so it's no surprise this ticket has become scarce - if it's your game of choice, expect to do some searching and if you find any, perhaps ask that retailer if they have any sealed packs of them so one or more could be activated so you could have further chances with it - one month after a ticket has been deactivated, it will be retired, as within that time the OLG will reclaim all unsold tickets - retailers have until the retirement date to return them in order to receive credit on them, not doing so means they have to pay for them and are then stuck with them - this is why the odd time you may find an old ticket being sold.

  19. I dont normally buy more than 1 poker ticket at a time, but if I do I get them all on one ticket, I know people that want a single ticket for every ticket they buy but I dont think it increases your chances of winning.

If I get a free ticket I usually go to the back of the line, if its one of the smaller prizes Ill have them cash me out (which only takes like 10 seconds really) and if I want more tickets out of it I just go to the back of the line or leave and go to another store, lol.

  20. I have been a dick though at times but it is very rarely, like when this lady was ordering something from the Tim Hortons in the gas station, she wanted 1/3 of a cup of french vanilla, then coffee, and a few sugars and cream, the girl made it for her but she said it was disgusting, and had her make it THREE times over till it was just right, berating the girl who was making it to the point I thought she was going to cry part way through, maybe your coffee would taste better if it didnt have the workers tears in it, lol.

I was checking a whole bunch of tickets at one time, but I keep an eye out for anyone waiting to check theirs, and that lady came behind me and kept saying loudly to her friend "Yeah, ill be done if I ever get to check this ticket!" and she said it immediately as she got behind me, not even waiting a second, so I didnt have time to stop and let her check hers and continue when she was done, and I could hear her tapping her foot and huffing and puffing behind me so I checked all of mine and made her wait.

Then I lined up to get my tickets, and she got in the line up behind me, and wouldnt you know I kept hitting small prizes and free tickets on the poker lotto, I kept cashing them right there and making her wait, thats a lesson in patience and not treating people like crap because they cant make your weird coffee perfectly.

I won $40 on an Extreme Millions ticket and gave $5 to my friend, bought a pack of smokes, bought one $5 ticket which lost, bought a red Bull, and put the rest into gas.. I was quite happy with how I won and spent the money.. I actually honestly predicted my #09 ticket was going to be a winner of $40 before scratching it because I purchased 2 $20 extreme millions from the same pack and they were both losers.. so with #09 still in the tray from the same pack beside a #06 from a different pack.. I decided to play the #09 ticket because I just had two losers from the same pack, #09 is a good number, better then #08 and I figure because the odds are 1:7 to Win $40 on the extreme millions ticket I came to the conclusion that #9 was going to be a winner for $40 and it was.

I just had two losers from the same pack so I decided to grab another card from the same pack because with two losers I'm getting closer to the win and I know there is at least a $40 winner in there and I was getting close to it. #09 just felt like a winning # as well.

Also, property taxes for the average house are $8000/year compared to other places of normally $3000-4000. IF PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE ME THEN DO THE RESEARCH YOURSELF OR ASK FRIENDS WHO LIVE IN HAMILTON. The Anon-Theory is in full effect.

  33. For anyone who buys Extreme Millions or Diamond Payout this is a heads up.

Extreme Millions $20- odds are 1 in 666,000 for $1 million GP.

Diamond payout $10 - odds are 1 in 1,200,000 for $1 million GP.

Therefore, You are much better off to spend the $20 or $10 on ENCORE.

If you spend $20 on encore, the odds for you to win $1 million are 1 in 500,000.

If you are to spend $10 on encore, the odds for you to win $1million are 1 in 1,000,000.

Also, the odds are significantly better to win the secondary $100K prize. So its looking like encore is the way to go if you are looking for a BIG PRIZE!

To answer Doug's question, what's worse, losing one $30 ticket or 10 consecutive $3 tickets?

The answer is simple, going 0 for 10 is a lot worse than going 0 for 1. From any statistical point of view the correct answer is 0 for 10.

    1. Interesting, I guess mentally if I bought 10 $3 games I wouldn't believe I could go 0 for 10 and I would be more dissapointed than if I just bought a single $30 game because I sort of assume that it's likely a dud before I even scratched it..
Very seldom do I buy 1 single ticket , I almost always buy 3 or more just because I feel better about it if I win a small prize..lol..which in the end makes me lose more cash.

      Delete
    2. If you go 0 for 10 on $3 tickets thats a pretty bad run, however going 0 for 1 on a $30 ticket would make sense, I bought a jackpot, a bingo doubler, and 2 dragons, winning only $15, ($10 on a jackpot and $5 on the doubler) the cost was just $1 over half the price of a $30 ticket.

doing the same with the $30 ticket would cost $120 for 4 of them, Ive only bought 3 of them total and only won my money back on one of them, its cool if youre looking for that grand prize, Im sure theyre fun for some people to play, but id be more surprised to go 0/10 on #4 or 0/6 on $5 tickets than I would 0/1 on a $30 ticket.

    3. Sorry for the delay - i post the odds categories once i have them done so they can be seen asap - afterwards i then do my calculations for the overall ratings and since that takes some time, they are posted a few hours later.

    4. Thanks for all you do...! I didn't mean to sound impatient...rather, I am an appreciator of your calculations, and given all the banter on here lately, I thought I'd let it be known that someone was interested in what you have to say! Best of luck to you and all...:)

  40. After looking at CL66's calculations. For those who are purchasing the Golden Treasures game for $30. Did you know...that for $30 or 10 plays worth of lotto 6/49, you actually almost have the same chance at winning the lotto 6/49 jackpot.

$30 Golden Treasure - Grand Prize of $2.5 million
$30 Lotto 6/49- Grand Prize minimum of $5 million + $1 million guaranteed prize draw.
**You also have a much better chance at matching 5/6+B then even the secondary prize of Golden Treasures.

I'm not sure if OLG realizes the stupidity of this $30 scratch ticket, they most definitely over-priced it, if anything it should be $25.

You do an amazing job and we need to learn Patience....it amazes me how the more expensive games are so low on your calculations. One of these days I'm going to buy a few like 3 in one day of the 30.00 tickets but I haven't been inclined as of yet...Have a great weekend to everyone and GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

    1. Thankyou Shelley,

An analogy i use to explain how big prizes do not always mean a ticket is good is "the bigger the slice of pie someone takes, the less for eveyone else". The more expensive tickets with huge grand prizes need to be paid for in some manner, that's usually at the cost of minimal lower prizes. My "number crunch compact" shows, at a single glance, how all tickets rate in the 12 categories i use for my overall rating. If you look at that, taking 2 $10 tickets as an example, you can see how much variance there can be:

      $10 INSTANT GIFT PACK: 2 1 1 1 2 6 17 19 20 26 9 2 68/100
      $10 DIAMOND PAYOUT: 8 5 11 18 20 27 26 6 17 24 2 5 50/100

The numbers show how, out of all 28 games, how they rate in 12 categories, with the biggest $ first from the left, being odds to win $50,000+ and then lessening amounts to the right, ending with odds on winning any prize, and then the final overall rating out of 100.

The Gift Pack shows in the top 6 categories:
#2 on odds to win $50,000+
#1 on odds to win $5,000+
#1 on odds to win $1,000+
#1 on odds to win $250+
#2 on odds to win $100+
#6 on odds to win 8-10x+ on your $

Diamond has the MUCH larger grand prize, but it came with only 174 prizes over $100, while the Gift Pack had 2,581. The $20 and $30 tickets offer more big prizes, but offer very little in 4x+ on your $. Cashingo is the 3rd worst ticket out of all 28 games at odds of 1 in 79 to win 4x+ on your $. $20 Extreme Millions is the 2nd worst at 1 in 1,301! Going from 1 in 79 to 1 in 1,301 is quite the leap! One would expect that you pay so much more for a ticket that you would get better odds. $30 Golden Treasures offers incredibly bad odds of 1 in 4,909 to win more than $100 / 3.3x on your $.

I have never won a grand prize in my life and i don't know anybody who ever has. I will most likely never win one either. I still have faint hope for such! The odds to win a grand prize are typicaly 1 in a million, to have a grand prize as a sole reason to get a scratch ticket to me is misguided. In my opinion, one you should have a decent chance at winning SOMETHING decent with the ever slight chance at a grand prize. It's fine to have a dream at some lofty goal but don't starve yourself along the way.

  44. Going to Port Huron MI to buy Powerball. Record US jackpot of $800 Million. Although the odds are crazy stupid, 1 in 292,201,338.00 to win the jackpot, I'm still buying some. If it doesn't get won tomorrow then most likely the jackpot will be over $1 Billion. After taxes of $800M the payout is $496M. Covert that to CDN = $703 Million.

You can buy online. Has anybody purchased online and where's the best place? What about fees and payment if you win small prizes?

  45. Currently in Florida. Struck out on Wednesday but will be buying three more PowerBalls tomorrow. This Lotto has 69 numbers! No wonder no one wins the thing!

    1. Doug, do you or anyone else know where I can purchase powerball online? According to CBC news articles, thelotter.com is the main site with good reputation but their site is down due to high volume and will not be selling anymore for this draw. I can't find any other sites that look legitimate.

      Delete
    2. Sorry. I'm not aware of any site where one can do that. I remember looking into a site a while back where tickets are purchased in some sort of pyramid system. It all looked good but there was always the risk of what might happen if you actually won the lottery and they actually were in possession of the ticket. I'd be more inclined to take a drive if you wanted to play.

    2. Those are the kind of questions I like to ask! :) and so ill ask you! What # was it, did you only buy one ticket? Did you scratch it right away? Was it a regular store of yours or a random shop you felt an impulse to venture into for the first time? Had you played many of the classic whites before you found your winner? Thanks for taking the time to answer, 6ix6ide6east...:)

CL66 5 January 2016 at 19:34 "$4 Cash For Life 1167 has not been deactivated - but i expect it will be soon"

It WAS deactivated yesterday along with 6 other games:

    $2 Polar Bear Bucks
    $3 Frosty Tripler
    $3 More Lucky Lines
    $5 Merry Money Multiplier
    $10 Instant Gift Pack
    $10 Holiday Spectacular

All holiday themed tickets are usually deactivated January-ish, while Lucky Lines was a now poor seller with as all of it's grand prizes claimed and it's recent "clone" game of Lucky Dragon Doubler overshadowing it. Only activated/loose tickets of these games can now be sold until the OLG reclaims them over the next month. These games will all be retired on February 8th.

Coming out on Monday will be a new $5 Money Multiplier and $10 Wild Card. These tickets should be the same as their previous editions. If so, "MM" would rate 67/100, making it the 2nd best ticket out of all 30 games, while "WC" would rate 62/100, making it 4th best.

The site shows 2 unclaimed grand prizes for it, I saw a few gift packs at a store I usually go to the other day, the lady there usually talks to me and she asked if I played any, I said I got a few before christmas and I got a bunch for christmas, but the largest winner I pulled was $50 (gf also won $50 on hers), but the lady started going off about how terrible they are and how so many people were disappointed, she said she sold a whole wack of them and her regular customers were coming back saying they felt they were way worse than last year for some reason.

She also said people were mad about the $2 coupon, I didnt feel either way about it really, but I guess people really liked getting a free $2 ticket over $2 off a $4 ticket, lol.

    4. I won on my first one $150 . and a $20. What I noticed after buying a few more is I could tell if they would win anything by if I won any prize on the smaller tickets. Made the rest of scratching pointless. It checked out until I stopped playing.

  49. When Doug calculates his float, its too bad OLG does not go down to the nitty gritty with remaining prizes like the Quebec lotto website. Check out the CFL for Quebec prizes left:

Prizes /Total number of prizes/ Number of prizes claimed

    $100,000 per year for life/5/3
    $1,000/10/5
    $500/20/11
    $100/255/134
    $75/1020/550
    $60/510/287
    $50/10200/5641
    $50/10200/5504
    $40/30600/16973
    $40/20400/11140
    $35/26520/14472
    $30/87720/47670
    $25/102000/55109
    $20/191760/103287

Much more in-depth for float calculation. However, they only go in-depth for the provincial games, not the inter-provincial, I wish OLG did this.

They say there's 9 ways to win but I have no idea about that. I also heard that the US government will not accept tickets purchased on line but that may not be true. Lol crazy amount of money tho. I wonder if Doug is still in Florida. We can send him money and have a lottery pool for the ones on this Blog.

  53. @ Darth and Shelley, I found this article from the NY times about winning lotteries in different countries purchasing online and how it works. Its a very good article to read and understand and its about the website thelotter.com.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/14/us/iraqis-oregon-jackpot-raises-questions-on-lottery-sales.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=0

Since the powerball is #1.3 billion, I'm sure they will be a lot of people from different countries purchasing powerball including myself. Eventually...someone is going to wake up and be a billionaire...not millionaire, multi-millionaire, or hundred millionaire...but BILLIONAIRE...that is crazy. Lets hope a Canadian wins this one:)

    1. note* According to thelotter.com twitter account, since CBC and huffingpost mentioned them in regards to the US powerball and online purchasing, they ended up getting a major upsurge which is causing the site problems and have the IT guys working on it so us Canadians can purchase powerball for Wednesdays draw.

    1. true, its posted at 1.3 billion, however, after taxes it will be cash value of $804 million or something like that.....Whoever wins this, is going to need a significant amount of security with them, I can only imagine all of the threats for ransom, death threats scammers, and all sorts of people coming out of the woods. The media attention is going to be out of control.

      Delete
    2. I played 42 lines with the multiplier for $126USD. Got back only $24. It's a brutal top heavy game.

If you read some of the US winners, some states you can remain anonymous, just like half the people on this board. And in some cases it goes thru a trust or lawyers. I believe if we hire the right lawyers we too can remain anonymous then buy an island somewhere.

      Delete
    3. its about 420 million or something I think, Im assuming a lot of people are going to be pooling money to try and win it, I doubt a single person is going to walk away with it.

      Delete
    4. on the website it says $806 million cash value, but then you can either take the annuity or a lump sum..not sure what it amounts to in lump sum. The 2nd biggest jackpot of $650 million there was won by ONE old lady LOL! Plopper, did you add POWERPLAY? I bought 15 lines and it amounted to like $105 CAD.

Now lotto max is $50 million again, so all my scratch ticket money is going to these lotteries again. Although I matched 5/7 numbers on my last ticket for $103...that's the 3rd time this year I have matched 5/7 numbers...If only I could match 6/7 or 6/7+B so I can get a decent payout would be nice.

      Delete
    5. Powerball is $2 a ticket. The multiplier or power plays is an extra $1. I played the multiplier so 42 lines cost $126 USD. The website still down. I would rather drive and cross the border. Plus I can't trust an online service. I feel I must hold the ticket and not some person a million miles away.

  56. Yes, I'm still in Florida. I'm $18 USD into this futile pursuit and will play another 3 lines with Powerball for Wednesday. That will cost me $9 USD or $20 CDN (joke).

What is amusing is that they have billboards here with the amount of the prize on the board expressed in millions. There are only three places on the billboards limiting the announced prize to $999 million.

The line-up at Winn-Dixie was irritating as non-regular players had filled out their game sheets but most had errors on them. Take the quick pick folks - it's easier on all of us.

My only hope is that it is won on Wednesday. Otherwise, I'll be spending another $9 chasing a $2 billion prize.

    1. Don't worry Doug, everyone else is spending money on this powerball including me, we got to join into this hype, I cant believe there was a big line up for buying powerball tickets....only in America LOL.

On a side note, I matched 5/7 numbers (almost 1 in 5000 odds) on my lotto max from Friday, $107. This is the 3rd time in the last 6 months this has happened to me...why can't I just match all 7 numbers. Anyways I purchased 15 lines of powerball and a total of 10 plays + 20 Encore for lotto max $50 million. FINGERS CROSSED TO WIN THE JACKPOT ON EITHER JACKPOT!

  57. Hi Doug
I wish you luck on your tickets, I hope your enjoying your time in Florida hopefully it's pleasure that your there.
I came across an interesting article and I wanted to share it.
I honestly still wonder if RNG is really not so, even convenience store owners who are computer geeks say there rigged and OLG and the US have algorithm software for the lottery's and I tend to believe it myself there just crafty enough to make sure none of us find out, why is it you can't watch the draws take place anymore or if we can I have no idea where to find it. Ok that's my rant for Monday Morning.lol
Good luck to anyone buying a Powerball ticket for Wednesday's draw.

    1. Hi Doug,

If a Canadian buys a powerball ticket and happens to win the $1.5 Billion. Can he or she remain anonymous if he or she bought it in the six U.S States that allow you to remain anonymous? Those six U.S States are Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and South Carolina. Is staying anonymous only for residents of those states or can foreigners like Canadians stay anonymous too? With that kind of money up for grabs, it would be very risky as people and scammers will do anything to get a bite of your money.

      Delete
    2. I'm not sure but I suspect that if you are not in one of the six states that allow the winner to remain anonymous, then I would doubt that you could do so. I have also heard that it is not legal for someone to take the ticket out of the USA. So, if you win I'd suggest getting back there before you claim the prize.

#8 on odds to win 3x your $ or better
#6 on odds to win 2x your $ or better
#27 on odds to win any prize

The good news: in 9 of 12 odds categories, it's in the top 10. The bad news: it's the 4 worst ticket on odds to win any prize, at 1 in 4.06 / bogus $2 and $3 prize amounts. There are 28% more tickets and quantity of prizes than the previous version of this game. Uncover a “STAR” symbol, win DOUBLE the prize for that game. The "STAR" symbol can appear up to 7 times on this ticket. Odds are: 1 in 30 for a single 2x win, 1 in 28 for 2 times, 1 in 35 for 3 times, 1 in 500 for 4 times, 1 in 92,400 for 5 times, 1 in 294,000 for 6 times and 1 in 808,500 for 7 times. You can win in up to 5 games, 7 games, and in all 10 games. Win in 2 games, at odds of 1 in 20, a total of $10(39%), $15(39%), $20(22%) or $100(0.1%). Win in 3 games, at odds of 1 in 38, a total of $12(76%), $25(19%), $50(4.3%) or $250(0.7%). Win in 4 games, at odds of 1 in 103, a total of $25(72%), $50(21%) or $100(7%). Win in 5 games, at odds of 1 in 158, a total of $25(85%), $100(14.8%) or $1,000(0.2%). Win in 7 Games, at odds of 1 in 92,400, a total of $1,500. Win in all 10 Games, at odds of 1 in 215,600, a total of $5,000(73%) or $25,000(27%). I rate $5 Money Multiplier 67/100, making it 2nd best out of all 30 games and as the best $5 ticket.

  68. Well, here I am lined up outside a Toronto bakery, hoping to get some Powerball tickets! Shiver!!

All I have to do is spend $200 on croissants and doughnuts and maybe some day old bread, and I will get 10 'free' Powerball tickets!! Woohoo!!!!

Been here since 5 a.m. - not sure if I can feel my face anymore...... :(

    ----------------------

er......NOT!! LOL :) I am home, warm, having a coffee.

But the people in that line do look uncomfortable and are all getting bombarded with questions from news stations, and on tv they look rather bewildered and a bit silly. If they spend $20, they get 1 free Powerball each, and many are willing to wait hours in the cold.

It's too late now, but people interested in Powerball might check out some of the lottery consortiums to buy into draws like this. I see that Mario's Lottery Groups from Calgary bought into this draw. They closed their group on Sunday it appears and they offer buyers a share of a pool of tickets. No complaints anywhere that I can see about this group online.

This does seem to be a great marketing idea for the bakery involved, though. Kudos to them! I'll bet the bakery business is very slow in January when we are all overstuffed and cash-poor from Christmas, and that store will probably move an extra $20,000 or more in merchandise this week thanks to what amounts to about a 15% discount on volume orders. The owner says she drives to Buffalo each day this week, buys tickets in US$ and returns to give them away. (Not sure if there are customs implications for bringing tickets worth thousands across the border, though I have now seen two news stories about some arcane US law that suggests coming IN to the US with lottery tickets is immoral and illegal - not sure what that might do to a lucky Canadian redeemer.) So the owner pays for gas, covers travel time for herself or staff, and probably generates some windfall sales, if she can keep her shelves stocked. I peeked in the bakery window last night after 5 and every one of the shelves and baskets was completely empty, and was not sure how you could buy $20 of anything there!

With Powerball having big jackpots several times each year, I'll bet some other Canadian small entrepreneurs (and scammers!) are watching this and thinking how they can jump in next time. There are many craigslist ads in Toronto right now offering Powerball tickets, typically 10 for $100-$250 or so. Huge markup.

Watch out for scams though, folks.

    1. I went past the bakery again this morning. Huge lineup, estimated at about 300-400 people wrapped around three streets. I imagine many will go home empty handed if they let people buy more than one package/one ticket. A lot of sad looking faces in the lineup, many folks looking rather downtrodden. I felt sort of bad for them.

Coincidentally, I went into a convenience store a few blocks away. The owner there told me she had been to the same bakery yesterday before the news broke, and she got a ticket after buying a $20 gift certificate for later purchases. She said there as no lineup at all yesterday morning. She showed me the ticket and the coupon. (I told her to remember what caring, friendly customers we are if she wins!)

If the Powerball is not won tonight, I wonder if the bakery will keep doing this all week?

    2. That's an amazing gimmick to boost sales, if it were quick andeasy for me to go and grab some bread and donuts I would join the insanity also.
Darth struck out on getting power ball tickets. .although I only checked "the lotter" website which as if lastnight is still on the Fritz and says it temporarily won't accept canadian transactions. .lol..

I've also heard the $1.3 billion estimate is now on the low side and could potentially reach $1.4 or even $1.5billion.
lol....what's a couple hundred million when you're talking over a billion. .who cares lol..

Kinda makes our 50 and$ 60 million dollar lotto max look like a joke...

Well good luck to any of us who managed to snag a few of those tickets. .And yeah what if it doesn't get won again. .that would be INSANE once again. .likely $2 billion.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, the 649 tonight is 5 million, still alot for a person to win, but I have to imagine the OLG is seeing the craziness with these powerball draws and feeling a little weird about it, granted the odds for 649 and MAX are a little better than the powerball I think, but capping ours at 60 seems a little weird to me now.

  69. Well after several attempts I managed to join Doug's blog in a less anonymous style..first you need a Google account then you join blogger then you edit your profile. .a bit complicated for someone who isn't tech savvy like myself but I think I got it figured out.

  70. The lotter.com appears to be a legit site.
I was able to get into it today yet it's very buggy and i can't seem to open an account so far.I believe you do a deposit into your lotter account and make any purchases out of your account and they send a scan of your actual ticket to your email. And any small prizes get credited to your account. .so I'm thinking about a $100 Canadian $ deposit and likely throw about $10 into the crazy powerball draw...it's interesting to see some of the other big international lottos you can buy into also..They're likely so overwhelmed right now with people like me trying to open accounts and deposit and play that it's quite likely it won't work for tonights draw.

  71. What a great post thanks Jason where was the Bakery if you don't mind saying, very ingenious of them to do that kudos to them and your right there will be a lot of scammers coming out of the wood work especially if it doesn't go. Good luck on your tickets and anyone else on here who has purchased some.

    1. It's called World Class Bakery, around 690 St. Clair West, at Christie.

And a heads up anyone in Toronto: If Powerball for tonight is not won, they will do this again for the Saturday draw. The store manager told me she would not, however, have any tickets available until Friday.

(Keep your eyes peeled - I bet if the jackpot does roll over, you'll see some other shops doing the same thing, this week, in Toronto and elsewhere in Canada)

  79. Well, now that the Powerball amusement ride is over, I got around to scratching 6 $10 Gift Packs. Won $129 - sweet! I couldn't believe how the scanner kept giving me more cash from all the small tickets. (Couldn't be bothered to scratch more than the bar code, too painful on my arm, lol!)

I managed to find a couple retailers with more on the shelves who said I could also come back and get some others that were in storage under the counter if I wanted, too.

I can see why CL66 rates this game so highly still. Including a bunch that I gave away as gifts, I am in the black overall on Gift Pack, having bought about 20.

I'm collecting another 20 or so and will report next week how they turned out.

Ask your retailers - if it's not on the counter, they may also have some stll in the store.

    1. Hi, thanks for sharing those information but how can u get the odds? As I can't find any info on olg about how many tickets in each games are sold or in stock, pls advise.

      Delete
    2. No secret here. The odds are calculated by using the number of outstanding top prizes left to be claimed as a percentage to the top prizes available at the outset of the game and then applying that percentage to the float size.

There is a margin of error in the calculation. The more top prizes that are listed, the smaller the margin of error. That margin can range from less than 1% to as much as 8%.

It's only a 5x prize on the new money multiplier but I can't remember the last time I've had one so i thought I'd share.I picked up 3 of them and hit a $25 and a $10 , also 3 dragon tickets were duds.

    2. I've gone 2 for 5 on them now - was 1 for the first 4 with just a $5 win - today i got one that won $2x2 + $8x2 for $20 to level me off at break even - i`m thankful for that as my last ranking placed it #1 and i`d like to be able to back that up beyond stats - Darth, as i know Cash For Life is a fav for you, how has 1171 and the older 1167 been for you?

    3. -cl66, the newest version of CFL has been poor and I haven't played it now for a couple weeks, I dislike the odds to win $20 on the newest version..if I recall the previous version and the old bonus CFL were decent odds and plentiful for $20 winners and
with the the lack of them it feels like a money hole and tougher to"freeroll" or play on the houses dime. ..
I'm always searching value or the best place too get my money in with the olg..and it's not always scratch tickets. .lol..
Somtimes I'm excited about the lottos or pokerlotto or somedays my flavor is the sports pools. .
Although you need luck to come out ahead of the OLG I think we're all looking for value in where we put our money and thats why myself and others sometimes stray away from just scratch ticket conversations...
I'm contemplating posting a question about the numbers behind encore and pay back %..earlier on someone suggested that encore was a better place to put your money than some of the higher priced games...I'm mulling this over and trying to make some comparison too those numbers compared to say the new CFL or even some of the $3 games. .when I figure out how I want to word my question in an understable manner I'll post it..
Kinda hoping Tommy middle finger can dust off his abacus and help...hint..hint..

Tommy did you hit a jackpot and decide to hide out for a while so you can stay somewhat anonymous. .?

  93. I guess OLG is drooling over me -- I'm a female millenial :) Scratch-offs were my mum's go-to gift as a child so I've always found them fun. I accompany her often to the OLG slots at Rideau-Carleton in Ottawa (and seem to have good luck, surprisingly) when I'm back in town to visit.
My updates: my Holiday Gift Pack was a dud, but hubby got about $15 between all the games. He got me a Winter Words Crossword -- also a dud. I got two Holiday Spectaculars and I'm 2/2 with $10 on the first and $25 on the second. Got another $10 one but can't remember the name -- it was blue and I think had "millions" in the title. Regardless, it was a dud. Debating on trying one of those $30 (!) tickets when I cash those in, or just go for more $10 ones. We will see.

  94. Canada’s housing market is poised to post one of its best years on record
in 2015 despite the Canadian economy being hit by a significant
negative shock (plunge in oil prices) and a spike in condo completions.
Low interest rates continue to provide substantial stimulus for housing
    demand at this stage.
 Strong momentum is not equally shared across the country, however,
with home resale activity plummeting in oil industry sensitive markets
(Alberta and Saskatchewan) contrasting with record or near-record
levels in Ontario and British Columbia.
 We continue to expect a cooling in housing activity in the period
ahead, although this should be seen as ‘event driven’ rather than ‘time
driven’. The main ‘event’ in our view will be a rise in interest rates.
 Our base case scenario is that interest rates will rise gradually starting
in 2016 (in the latter half of the year for short-term rates but before
then for longer-term rates), thereby causing housing activity to slow
    down modestly nationwide next year.
 A full normalization of interest rates over the medium term would
apply intensifying downward pressure on homebuyer demand with
most of the effect being felt beyond 2016.
 The risk of a market crash is low under our base case scenario of a
gradual pace of interest rate increases and continuing growth in the
    economy.
     A prolonged slump in Canada’s economy—and resulting rise in unemployment—would
magnify downside risks materially for the housing
    market

  96. The good news: It has 40 prizes of $5,000 or more and it's the #1 game on odds to win $5,000 or more. It ranks in the top 5 in 4 of the 5 top $ categories. The bad news: it's below average on odds for small wins of $25 to under $100. Uncover a “Jester” symbol, at odds of 1 in 6.97, win 2x your prize, with more than 1 symbol possible on a ticket. Doubled prizes may include bogus $2 and $3 prizes. You can win up to 12 times on this ticket. Winning twice comes at odds of 1 in 19 (53% $10, 28% $15, 19% $20), 3 times: 1 in 36 (78% $12, 19% $25, 3% $50), 4 times: 1 in 144 (83% $25, 10% $50, 7% $100), 5 times: 1 in 169 (85% $25, 15% $100), 7 times: 1 in 138,261 $1,500, 10 times: 1 in 127,232 (92% $5,000, 8% $25,000) and winning in all 12 games: 1 in 127,232 (92% $5,000, 8% $25,000). I rate $5 WILD CARD 66/100 making it #2 out of all 27 games and as the #1 $5 ticket.

  97. $77k winner from Crystal 7's was bought at Josephine st. Macs milk wingham ,, interesting this same store sold a $1000 per week grandprize for an older CFL game maybe around 4 or 5 yrs ago. .
I live in rural south western Ontario and I guess I see things opposite because I notice a bigger portion of winner tickets from the GTA..
Just a rough estimate I figure the GTA should receive half of the scratch ticket grand prizes because I figure almost half all tickets are sold there. .
How big is the GTA. .I thought it went from Milton /Oakville too maybe Whitby on the east and Newmarket/Bradford to the north. ..lol maybe my idea of GTA is different from other's

    Gl everyone

    1. The Greater Toronto Area is defined as the central city of Toronto, and the four regional municipalities that surround it: Durham, Halton, Peel, and York.[6] The regional span of the Greater Toronto Area is sometimes combined with the city of Hamilton, Ontario and its surrounding region, to form the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.[7][8] The Greater Toronto Area is the northern part of the Golden Horseshoe.

  98. Well, my neighbor won $50K on a scratch ticket. I personally know two other people who won 100K on encore, 8K on lotto max, a lotto max main prize win, and 1K on scratch ticket. When the hell is it going to be my turn to win something big, all these people around me winning lol. Anyways, I have been playing extreme millions like crazy, $50 was my biggest win, mostly just winning $40 and $20. I bought one CFL and won $20 yesterday. Nothing exciting on my end.

  99. $1 Hit $100 - Review

    Top prize: $100
    Low level prizes: $50 / $20 / $10 / $5 / $2 / $1
    Number of tickets: 3,010,000

    Odds to win:
    any prize - 1 in 4.47
    $2 or more - 1 in 8.77
    $5 or more - 1 in 71.76
    $10 or more - 1 in 184
    $20 or more - 1 in 291
    $50 or more - 1 in 408
    $100 - 1 in 588

    Out of all 30 games:
#8 on odds to win $100+
#9 on odds to win 8-10x your $ or better
#22 on odds to win 6-8x your $ or better
#23 on odds to win 5x your $ or better
#25 on odds to win 4x your $ or better
#30 on odds to win 3x your $ or better
#21 on odds to win 2x your $ or better
#30 on odds to win any prize

The good news: none. The bad news: everything. It's a $1 game, you get what you pay for. It's odds of 1 in 4.47 to win any prize are the worst out of all 30 games. It has terrible odds of 1 in 72 to just win more than $2. This is also the worst of all 30 games on odds to win more than double your $. Uncover a “LIGHTNING BOLT” symbol, at odds of 1 in 498, to win $10. I rate $1 Hit $100 20/100 making it 2nd worst out of all 30 games. $1 Red Hot $50's is the worst at 17/100. If you must play a $1 ticket, your much better off with $1 Lucky Lines Express, which i rate as 32/100.

  103. I need to rant. I'm sick of hearing about those powerball winners, invited to be on live talk shows and special invitations to events etc. Just loving the media attention. When I win the $55 million jackpot, I guess I will be on the Kardashians tv show, appearing on Oprah winfrey, and singing songs with Justin Bieber, probably appearing in a movie or two with George Clooney.

OLG needs to put out new scratch tickets......holiday spectacular, OLD CFL, Instant GP, Classic White, all have 1 GP remaining and no one gives a **** about them. NEW CFL LOST ANOTHER GRAND PRIZE. Guess I'm buying $300 worth of Lotto max/encore for this week. RANT OVER.
