DeleteUnfortunately, in gambling (and perhaps even more so at the slot palaces where in order to maximize revenue and profit, the machines are sometimes placed ridiculously close together), strabismus (ie., cross eyes) is quite common since it's "always" the guy next to you who's playing the machine that's hitting!
Actually I've done pretty good at the "Slot Palaces". Only gone maybe 15 times max. and only because I get dragged there. However I've won $135, $250, $400 & $700. I always leave as soon as I either win or drop $40 so I'm way ahead. My problem is I hate all the noise and wall to wall people so I avoid going there as much as possible.

Also after a few weeks off of scratch games I picked up 18 of the15× tickets and did decent on small prizes. .
spend $54 win $50....almost break even.

At last look, despite quite a few straight flush winners (10% of the pot), it's still in the decent $170k area. Worth a play or two for sure.
I found your blog recently and as a regular scratch ticket purchaser, I like your strategy of playing the odds based on what prizes are still available and how many tickets are outstanding. I've changed my buying habits and have started to buy based on your recommendations.

DeleteYou are quite correct! Bought 15 more 15X tickets today with a portion of my winnings and those tickets returned a measly $12 ($3 + $6 + $3). That tempers hopes!
DeleteBought a pack of 15x the other day. Out of the 70 tickets I got 17 winners for a grand total of $115. Sadly, this is only half of the pack's cost.

DeleteI have the SPPB for #1840 15X The Money, based on 200 games, of a hit rate of 25.2% and a payback of 51.74%. Your results of 17/70 (24.3%) and $115/$210 (54.8%) are more what the typical (unless you happen to be very lucky) player experiences so don't feel too bad about it.
Thanks for reporting the results and percentages of your play. I'm often interested to see how it compares to the theoretical SPPB and good/better luck in the future.

Both the new tickets were available at my corner store this morning - the Sweet Cash ticket's game board has a fixed layout just like Fruit Explosion did - that is, the symbols on it are in the same position on all tickets - i prefer this method as it makes continued game play easier.
ReplyDelete$10 CLASSIC RUBY was retired today - i beleive due to poor sales as it had 6.85 million tickets upon it's release on January 12th and retired with an estimated 35% of tickets unsold - in the one month after its deactivation it sold only 1.5%.
ReplyDeleteAfter being on the market since April 17th 2014, $20 200 MILLION$ EXTRAORDINAIRE was finally deactivated last Friday - it's end was coming with the news of the release of $20 EXTREME MILLIONS - It's also set to retire with an estimated near 50% of it's tickets unsold - that's a massive 7.5 million tickets!
If they market it the same as "M.E." - the new $20 "E.M." is set to be around till near December 2016! 0_o - in my opinion too many of the interprovincial $10+ games are overproduced and on the market for too long and i usually don't rate them well - i almost always rate OLG only $10 games as better - i beleive a shakeup is needed with interprovincial games.
I would expect the next tickets to be deactiviated as $10 100 MILLION$ FORTUNE and the "X The Money" family of tickets - Fortune has been around since September 1st 2014 and the $3/$5 X tickets are near an estimated 85% sold and are now hard to find in my area of Scarborough.
The only new ticket with a confirmed release date is $5 "500 Frenzy", for this coming Monday - i still do not have any details about this game, if i receive any before it's release, i will post an update.

Well, someone claimed a 15X prize making it a little less attractive at this point, assuming you can still find tickets.
ReplyDeleteI have the SPPB for #1840 15X The Money, based on 200 games, of a hit rate of 25.2% and a payback of 51.74%. I didn't do too badly with this game finishing with a hit rate of 25.0% and a payback of 81.67%. Time to move on.

ReplyDelete$18 worth of poker all in for yesterday returned a free play and managed to hit 3 cards on one ticket and 2 cards on the other for a $30 win on the night draw..I'm happy with that.
I just picked up 6 -15x the money tickets which only returned $3..I should have checked the unclaimed prizes page or here first because I would've passed on them..I'm thinking it's a pass on that game for now..

ReplyDeleteLloyd mentioned A&8's. It's also a game I managed to have zero wins, well at least so far. Super Bingo and Fast 200s (yes, I was tempted by Scott's wins) have also produced zero wins for me. Granted, I haven't been playing too many of the above and winning on ZERO (head shake goes here) games dosn't encourage it either.
Most of this is luck of course and winning early on changes our perception of how 'good' a game is which is of course nonsense. Still, I do say to play the games you enjoy playing AND are lucky at.

ReplyDeleteI'll report in with some of my recent stats.
I too, was encouraged to try the Fast 200's and have actually broken even on them, winning some with $4,$6 and $10. In fact, when I buy those in conjunction with something else, they are often the only tix that yield any kind of win!
Because I love them the most, I play at lot of crossword triplers...but trying to break through the $20 win barrier is not easy! I often win just $5, sometimes $10, and several times the match 3 $20. But honestly with how many I've played I would expect to have won a bigger prize by now. The most move won on the 15x was a 2x $5 for $10. Thank you, but where oh where could the 15x be?!!? ;)
The one thing I'm starting to consider is that I may be overriding my sense of intuition when it comes to picking cards BECAUSE I read this blog and use the statistical information to guide my choices. Maybe I should just go back to winging it in the moment and allowing my heart to pick rather than my head?
I also notice I enjoy the hunt for rarer tickets more than buying ones I know are in mass abundance. I guess I'm convinced that the fewer there are available, the better my chances at a grand prize. For example, if I went into a store today and saw some pink cross triplers beside some blue ones, my heart would skip a beat with excitement and I would surely grab those pink rare creatures...expecting that they would yield a prize more readily than those very common blue ones.

After a losing streak on aces & eights I tried sweet cash and won $9 on the first, so I stayed on them and got zip on the next 7 or 8 tix. I even tried a $20 Extreme and zip again. Absolutely zero on Poker All In, 6/49, Max, Lottario and Ontario 49. So I'll just chalk it up to one crappy and expensive weekend.
DeleteI don't mean to boast, but there isn't any tickets i`ve been playing lately that sucked - i always go with my head on what i play - a few years back i always went with wishful hope and never did well - I have done well in the last 3 weeks with numerous tickets - today was the best result in awhile with a $150 win on crossword tripler blue - last sunday was also $150, on a poker lotto all-in full house - other wins: cash blast $50 and a $75 / 15x the money 3 $15 wins of 5x$3 + a $20 win and one $25 win of 5x$5 / $20 on an older bingo / 3 $10 + 2 $20 wins on aces+8's / but crystal 7's i've seemed to have had bring the most results, nothing significant, just many 7-20$ wins - sorry in that i have no pics for proof at this time, but regulars here know my word is good, and i will post pics of some of these and hopefully other wins at another time.

ReplyDeleteI have to ask...are you winning with every ticket you buy...or are there some losers in the mix too?! Do you buy more than one ticket at a time? All from the same few places in your area? Just curious! I'm on a Go train on my way to visit my mom in Ancaster for the day, and for the ride I purchased 2 blue crossword triplers and a cash blast (being inspired by your post) from the union station depot...scratched 'em all and NOTHING! Such a tease- each triplet gave me 3 red words....so close but not nearly close enough...:(
I do stick to a budget and a routine. I only tend to buy $10 tickets when i`m cashing in $30+ in total wins. I only ever buy at 1 place 2 at the most with $3 tickets that i like playing, just a single ticket with all others. I will make a list before i go out with what i would like to get. I fully trust my "number crunch" in deciding what to get. If a place has sold, say a significant $5 prize in the last half year-ish, i'm hesitant then to buy $5 tickets from there and i have more than a few places near me so i could go elsewhere. I`m seeming to win on 1 in every 3 tickets i get. If my budget has extra, i will buy from more than 1 place. I tend to scratch my tickets over a few hours instead of all at once. I know more about scratch tickets than retailers and even most OLG employees - lol, so i have an advantage which has helped me win more than would be expected. My beleif in karma, i feel has also helped, as i`m only too willing to share or answer here all that i know. (^_^)

My knowledge is 60 tickets for $5 games Dan, I wouldn't spend $300 on a pack when the grand prize is only $500..however I'm biased on such games with a low grand prize. I seldom ever play them not a big enough bang for the buck $...I'm starting to consider $3 sweet cash as its approaching 80% float left and the top 4 tiers of big prizes are untouched..

SPPB (560 games): Hit rate of 21.6% (1-in-4.63) with an expected payback of 62.14%, the highest on the list. Of course, this is just one aspect of the game. Like Darth mentions, the top prize is $500. The hit rate is probably one of the lowest so they'll be a lot of losing cards. But because the top prize isn't in the six figures (or even in the four figures), a lot of that cash is available for smaller churn prizes, hence the higher small prize payback.
DeleteA 1-in-56 chance of hitting a 3x prize and especially a 1-in-70 chance of hitting a 10x prize contribute to the high SPPB.
Looks like a souped up Fast 200s, yes, the one I had ZERO hits on. At most a few "for entertainment purposes" (as my science teacher, Ms. Cleo, used to write on my test papers).

DeleteHow ever I can understand the pain if that $5 crossword was your targeted game and you bought many of them at that retailer ..I would almost feel entitled to that prize and my poor wife would have to listen to me bicker about it for a couple weeks. ..Good luck to you..know your limit play within it. .
I budget $30-$40 a week for scratch tickets and usually have rollover money to keep playing all week. But yesterday bought a few of the $5 500 Frenzy instead of the usual $5 Crossword which like I said clearly was a mistake. And scratch tickets are a great way to kill time on your break at an office job lol :)

ReplyDeleteA quick calculation shows 5.64M (approx) tickets left. The odds can vary greatly since this is an inter-provincial game. Ontario gets roughly half of the initial issue and therefore may (or may not) get half of the initial top 7 prizes. It depends on your estimate of how many of the remaining 6 top prizes are still in ON. If it's one, the odds are 1-in-5.64M. If it's six, the odds are 1-in-940k. If it's three, the odds are 1-in-1.88M of hitting the top prize. Good luck.
