Thirty-one of the Top Prizes for Fruit Explosion were claimed this past week but not the sole remaining Grand Prize of $75,000. Two second prizes and one third prize also remain outstanding but the estimated size of the ticket float left is only 9%, +/- 2%. Posters have informed us all that the OLG has instructed retailers not to activate any new packages of tickets. I won't belabor the point but that took place some time ago so there are likely very few of these tickets left to be found. I would like to know with certainty how the print runs are ordered. It makes no sense to me that the OLG would be sitting on 200,000 printed and paid for tickets in the warehouse that they then have to destroy. It seems more likely that the print runs come in tranches of 10%. If that is the case, then the fuel gauge is already below empty. Sadly, the second rated game is Cashingo and it is in much the same status as Fruit Explosion. One final warning - if you are buying either of these games make sure that you check with the retailer before you do. There is only one Grand Prize remaining for each game.
As of today, the OLG is selling tickets for six games for which there are no Grand Prizes left to claim. As we watch what happened to More Lucky Lines and we face the imminent retirement of the two top rated games, they have no problem flogging these other games. In no particular order, they are: Crazy 8's, Crossword 3205, More Lucky Lines 1794, Scrabble 1799, Cross Tripler 1766, and Win Take All 1800.
Wild 8's was introduced. It's not a bad $1 game. Six Grand Prizes available of $10,000, a sprinkling of other Top Prizes, and a somewhat high number of tickets where you win back your $1. Prize breakdown is as follows:
1.9 % of revenue to Grand Prizes - 2nd of 5 in group.
.2% of revenue to prizes > $100 and less than Grand Prize - 4th of 5 in group
45.3% of revenue to prizes > $1 and < $100 - 3rd of 5 in group
12.5% of revenue to prizes of $1 - 2nd of 5 in group
40.1% of revenue to OLG
Float = 3,150,000
While in England I purchased a 2 pound Instant Game. The link to the game is here:
https://www.national-lottery.co.uk/games/instant-wins/250000-red .
The tickets are sold in retailers in rolls such as what is available south of the border. But, one can also establish an account with the British Lottery folks and then purchase your ticket on-line. You then scratch the ticket "virtually". Without doing a full work-up I note that the chances to win a Grand Prize of $250,000 pounds is just under 5 million to one. There are 8 Grand Prizes available. That means the ticket float for the game is a massive 40 million tickets! Wow!
I am unable to find an "Outstanding Top Prize" list and I wonder how that would work given that some tickets are hard copy and some are virtual. Take note as this is direction the OLG is headed. Robert Benzie updated the status in this article: http://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2014/10/11/three_bidders_vying_for_ontarios_prized_33b_lotto.html
When the Lotto function is privatized one of the consequences will be less transparency as successful bidder will be a private company and therefore exempt from Freedom of Information laws.

DeleteShannon,
DeleteWow! I have yet to win a $100 prize on any game, ever. Congratulations!
Doug
That's cute shannon..best of luck ..
Deleteits weird cuz the very first time i ever started playing scratches, just bought 1 5 dollar crossword tripler and won 225. i guess thats what got me into them. sometimes winning could be bad X)
DeleteThis privatization push is never in the interest of Ontarians. Do we need a company from Italy to run a service in Ontario? I guess it will go well with the Spanish running the 407. How the heck is Rogers in there? Other than to rob us. And the Teachers Pension Fund? Well at least the robbery will go to someone other than a CEO and their cronies.
ReplyDeleteAnd what's going on with playolg.ca and Spielo? Is that dead now or do they need another 5 years to make a web site?
Oh, I did buy a CFL and won $12. Helps calm my nerves.
Jay,
ReplyDeleteThe Benzie article says that Rogers has a subsidiary in this line of business and the Teachers Pension Fund owns a similar company.
The problem I have with the plan is that it will result in the elimination of lower paid jobs at the OLG whose replacements may or may not be in Canada. How is this good for Ontarians? The OLG also projects that this will allow them to increase the money they return to the provincial coffers. Well, after the successful bidder invests, the OLG projected, $1 billion in infrastructure how will that bidder recoup their investment? If you follow the theory, they will sell so many more tickets that the OLG's smaller cut of a much bigger pie will result in an increased return. Frankly, I don't believe it and once its done - it's done. Your reference to the 407 is not out of line.
Mr. Godfrey was canned by the premier and Mr. Phillips later jumped to Post Media (where Godfrey is the chairman). Somehow, the plan remains in place.
Doug
My results from buying the first 15 and last 15 tickets from a fresh pack of bonus CFL was dismal..
ReplyDeletespend $120 win $52---43%return
Win on 5 tickets ..
But on the upside I picked up 11 more random bonus CFL from another store and did decent. .it balanced out for a more acceptable return. .
spend $44 win $50--profit $6
..overall return from 41 tickets is 62%
..thnx for updates Doug. ..
Virtual scratch tickets. .hopefully not here in Ontario. .
Industry insiders estimate OLG could make up to 25 per cent more money off the lottery by boosting online and smartphone ticket sales and expanding its customer base.
ReplyDeleteIf they start virtual scratch games I certainly hope the returns are increased for the players..they'd be saving so much from printing/ handling costs and commision...But oh yeah it's the OLG why give the players a break. .the money all goes to benefit the people of Ontario they claim..
Hi Doug
ReplyDeleteI went to a convenience store today to buy cashing and the guy said the Grand Prize was claimed, on the print out I got it doesn't say that and this dude said he was notified this morning and told to pull the tickets so can anyone clarify this for me please...
Fruit's are impossible to find in my neck of the woods....lol
Good luck to all.
ooops sorry I meant Cashingo. When I went to another store he said he was not notified of this but then again he didn't have any Cashingo tickets either..
DeleteI guess we may have to wait till tomorrow's unclaimed prizes to see if he was being truthful with me.
Prize claim page says 1 grandprize remaining for cashingo..
ReplyDeleteretailers seem like a pretty uninformed bunch..lol..they can all have different answers too the same question. .
Well I don't have a clue why he pulled the tickets then since I'm sure I was the only one buying them...Is Horseshoes a good buy? I'm sure the answer is somewhere way back in one of Doug's comments. It's pretty sad when the store owner lies to you its my money. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for the answer Darth Vader
Kinda does look like you were lied too..it seems like a grey area about retailers selling tickets too cancelled games..some stores empty the trays and entire inventory while others continue too sell leftovers from previous activated packs...this benefits us informed players if they continue too sell are preffered games.
DeleteI'm not a buyer of horse shoes right now..I guess it's not a terrible choice but im all about bonus CFL right now..
At least we all know which games to avoid right now..

ReplyDeleteDoug commented about Jack's are wild being cancelled. .I wasn't so sure it was, so I picked up today's report and oddly enough its not shown on there at all..and theres a new keno game released with no warning. ..lol..strange days at olg..
how dare they release new games without informing Darth. .
...along with 3 Christmas games being released on Nov 03 , the new report shows another $10 game for release on Nov 10..
1816 spectacular
GL everyone
Darth,
DeleteI just go by the outstanding prize list. It is not unusual that the OLG has a lag of a day or so with their information between reports. They could easily avoid that but I suspect that they don't think that there any any kooks like us out there checking this stuff.
Doug
I was told yesterday that when they send back unused tickets it takes OLG a entire month to give them a credit and the owner wasn't too happy about waiting so long.
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought the CFL at all so I may have to start. Thanks again Mr Vader.. :0)
Shelley,
DeleteAlways learning something here. Thanks for that bit of info.
Doug
Reality hits close too home..thoughts and prayers with the family's of the victims of are parliament attacks.
ReplyDeleteDitto. What a sad day for our country and for those involved - specifically Cpl. Nathan Frank Cirillo.
DeleteHope all of the other local folks in the city are doing ok and are safe and sound.

Sorry folks, that i have not posted for awhile. I have been quite busy the last week and just haven't had any spare time. My usual posting of "number crunch odds', will be back as soon as i can get to it. I have been out of Doug's blog for a week now, so i don't know what "the talk" is here, as of late. Scratch "news" for me, occured today, when i checked the OLG page, and a few negative things i noticed...
ReplyDeleteThe new $3 Super Bingo game has almost 1/3rd LESS top prizes than the current $3 Bingo offered upon it's release - the new game has 26, the current game had 37 - even the odds to win smaller prizes have changed considerably - to win $50 or more, the current game, at it's release, had odds of 1 in 796, with the new game, it's now 1 in 1,143 - to win a lowly 5$, it was odds of 1 in 22, now it's 1 in 28 - this is not due to a reduced amount of printed tickets either, the new game has almost 10.3 million tickets, which is 7.5% more tickets than the old game.
I have not fully reviewed the stats on the upcoming new $2 Cash For Life game, but i did notice the odds to win just $4 are 1 in 26.5, the odds to win $4 on $2 Royal 7's is 1 in 11.6, thats quite a difference.
The upcoming new $3 Keno game has a DRAMATIC diiference in noteworthy prizes, There has not been detailed information released, as of yet, just a posting on the OLG unclaimed prize page. The current game offered, at it's release, 230 prizes of $1.000, the new game is offering only 10 prizes of $1.000. It's not due to an increase in larger prizes either. The current game, upon it's release, offered 6 $50,000 prizes and 16 of $5,000. The new game is offering the same prizes, just now, there's 5 of $50,000 and only 5 of $5,000.
This is a troubling sign in my view. Is it possible that we may be looking at an all around reduction in what you can win with scratch tickets??? :-(
New $3 Keno - wtf?! 0_o
ReplyDeleteThere still is no full info on the new coming $3 Keno game, but the game is listed on the OLG unclaimed prizes page. The prizes for this game, shown there, can be compared to the current Keno game. The total of all prizes of $100 or more, upon it's release, were $662,000 with the current game. The total with the new game is almost HALF of that, at $355,000. IF the game has a ticket run half of the current version, that would explain this difference, but that seems unlikely. The "red flag" with the new game is the 10 prizes of $1.000, while the current version had 230 at it's release. As of 1 week ago, the current game was the 2nd worst on oods to win $50 or more and had the worst chances of all games at winning 2-5x your $. IF the new game has ben changed to allow MUCH better prizes under $100 with greater odds to win such, it might explain why there are only 10 $1.000 prizes. If the amount of tickets printed for the new game is the same as for the current game and there is no change with small prizes and the odds to win such, then this new game is one to AVOID. The current game is a much better play than this new one, based on it's known info, while the current game i rate as only 59/100.
I noticed that about the new keno also..puzzles me ..must be a drastically reduced float or a lot more prizes under $100..
ReplyDelete$2 CFL. .I never even knew about that..I cant wait to grab a few..im looking forward to Doug and CL's breakdown on these new games
I wonder if the buy out for $2 cfl is $67,500 ..although the float is big that's a good prize for a $2 ticket. .but the mid level prizes are poor just like $4 cfl.. (top heavy)
ReplyDeleteCL ..what happened to your $100 k and up category? I don't wish too put more work load on you..just saying I liked that category..thnx
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend E1

Finding lots of fruit explosion..I've been rolling lots of little prizes into more tickets .not hitting anything great just $12 and under wins..so far just hitting above a 60% return. .
ReplyDeleteThe odds are 119.33:1 to win anything more than $12 on this game, while $12 and under is at decent odds to seemingly encourage further play.
DeleteAww you spoiling my mojo CL..just finding lots in stores I don't often go into. .and getting them for less than half price. .

All Cash For Life games are "top heavy", that is, a larger than average grand prize. To accomdate such, means a lesser amount of other prizes. It also means a larger than average amount of tickets will be printed. This game offers only 3 prizes greater than $50, while $2 Crazy 8's and $2 Royal 7's both offered 12. The ticket run for this game will be 7.87 million, which is 2.5x as many tickets for Crazy 8's or Royal 7's. With the 5th worst odds out of all games on winning any prize and odds of 1 in 205 to win $12 or more, you won't win often, and if you do, it's most likely $2-$10. You get the chance at $100 a week for life tho, just, the odds to win that are 1 in 787,250. I rate this game as 35/100. For $2, Royal 7's is a better play. If "Cash For Life" appeals to you, your better off with $4 Bonus Cash For Life.
The new $3 Keno ticket is out. It is the same as the current "blue" ticket, except it is green in colour and prizing has been slightly restructured. There is printing on the ticket saying "New Prizing", which is just the addition of a $15 prize and the elimination of the $6 prize. A "highlights" page has not yet appeared on the OLG site, so full information on this game is not yet known.
ReplyDeleteYeah it appears the $4 bonus cash for life is far better value..verses. $2 cfl..10 times bigger grand prize and currently a largely reduced float..
ReplyDeleteThe keno sounds like it's another butt ugly ticket..wonder what kind of numbers it's going to have..lol..likely less player friendly.
..I still have about 40 remaining fruit x to work on I'll post my weeks results maybe tomorrow..

Ranks 4th on winning any prize
The new game reverts back to the previous version. There are 6 "cards" instead of 4, as on the current game. By doing so, this elimates the Fast $15 2nd game on the current ticket. Besides this, the prize structure is the same as the current game, tho with changes in the quantity. The top prize of 10 x $50,000 is the same that was offered with the current game, upon it's release. The 2nd and 3rd top prizes, of $25,000 and $10,000, have been lowered down to 4 of each, from 7 of each with the current game. The 4th prize of $5,000, are now 8 instead of the 13 with the current game. This reduction has been passed on, as an increase to all other prizes compared to the current game. There are 10.3 million tickets for this game, which is 7.5% more than the current game. Expect game play to be the same as the current ticket. I rate this game as 42/100.
CL66,
DeleteI was checking the OLG page and cannot find a game sheet for this new game. Where did you get your information from?

They finally cancelled crazy'8s on Oct 4 th it remained for sale for around 2 months with no grand prizes available. .sad
Along with the Christmas games coming soon today's report shows the return of the $5 game 20x lucky on Nov 17..and on Nov 10 the $10 spectacular .
I went to get some $2 cfl today and couldn't find any..I picked up a couple new keno and $1 wild 8's just too satisfy my curiosity. .
..GL everyone
Theres no mention of Jack's are wild on this report either. .it doesn't say cancelled or on sale..just vanished. .strange
ReplyDeleteI was looking at the New York and Quebec lotteries, and was surprised to see that Quebec already does online lotto purchases.
ReplyDeleteYou can actually buy them online, or print a barcode with your selection and then pay at a retailer.

Same goes for Atlantic lotto. Saw a 649 commercial about it an hour ago while having dinner. I prefer getting my tickets in store, but it seems like we are getting behind pack on this one
DeleteItchy,
DeleteThanks. I'm going to take a look to see how much their lotto sales have increased since they began selling tickets on line.
